Three Counts of Agg Assault on LEO = 35 Years

Madison-Rankin District Attorney Bubba Bramlett issued the following statement.

District Attorney Bubba Bramlett announced today that Jonathan Santino Gray, 30, of Jackson pled guilty to three counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, felony evasion, motor vehicle theft, and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. He was sentenced to serve thirty-five years in the custody of MDOC.

On September 28, 2022, Jonathan Gray stole a work vehicle from a contractor working on a home in Silverleaf Subdivision. Officers quickly located the vehicle in the city of Madison and attempted to stop the Defendant. He refused to stop - going over 90 MPH as he drove south on Highland Colony Parkway until he entered the city of Ridgeland. He rammed several officers vehicles in attempts to further elude police. As Gray changed directions and headed towards Ridgeland High School, officers made the decision to disable the vehicle before he could reach the school. Officers with the US Marshall Service were able to both disable the vehicle and take Gray into custody. Officers found a 9 mm handgun located in Gray’s possession after he was taken into custody.

Gray had been previously convicted out of Hinds County for the charge of Armed Robbery in 2014.

A Madison County grand jury indicted Gray on several charges including three counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer by use of a deadly weapon. District Attorney Bubba Bramlett stated, “When someone uses a vehicle to intentionally hit officers – whether they are in the cruisers or not – that is an aggravated assault by use of a deadly weapon. It is a miracle that no one was injured in this matter and that officers were able to stop the evasion before it got any closer to the high school.”

Bramlett continued, “Officers from the Sheriff’s Department, Madison PD, Ridgeland PD, and the US Marshalls Task Force were all involved in the capture of this dangerous man. Jonathan Gray had absolutely zero regard for anyone else as he sped down Highland Colony during the middle of the work day. He drove into oncoming traffic and caused property damage to both local business owners and the police departments’ vehicle. Let this case be a warning to anyone thinking of running through Madison or Rankin Counties and using your vehicle as a weapon against our officers. We will not take that lightly and you will face serious prison time for your actions.”

Kingfish note: This is probably a 50% crime so in reality he will probably serve 17 years.

Too bad they didn't shoot him before he was apprehended. Now, us taxpayers have to support his sorry ass for however long he's in prison.

Jackistan thugs never learn not to do their deeds in Madison/Rankin. He no doubt was trying to make his way back to Jackistan where he would receive a "get of of jail free" blessing card. Right?

Oh, it's "Marshal," or "Marshals," not "Marshall," nor "Marshalls."

Good bye Santino. Enjoy the rest of your miserable life in the pen.

Commits the crime, apprehended, indicted, has day in court and is sentenced less than 7 months. You know it didn’t happen in Hinds County!

"This is probably a 50% crime so in reality he will probably serve 17 years." If this is the case my only question would be did the judge give him the maximum sentence for his crimes. When he gets out he'll go right back to being a dangerous burden on society.

We need a law requiring truth-in-sentencing.

That’s a sweet deal fir someone who committed that many felonies. The three counts of aggravated assault on a LEO alone carried a combined possibility of 90 years.

not sure what the school has to do with the story? I doubt the guy was on the way to the school to pick up his kids.

Always with the neck tats

When you come across a local with neck tats and a hoodie, lock and load.

If you are carrying correctly, you are already “loaded and locked” - assuming you carry a weapon with a safety. Otherwise, you should just be loaded already. If the thugs come for you it is not likely you will have time to load. I know that “lock and load” is a common expression, but it is a backwards description and irrelevant for the reasons stated above.

"The Yazoo City Police Chief was also assaulted recently by a City Alderman's daughter and brother after the Police Chief Hampton found DOPE in her car". Please somebody come to Yazoo City and Clean these people's house"?

10:24. We had a short period of “truth in sentencing “ about 1995. Then the do gooders said the prisons were costing the state too much money. The legislature cut DOC’s budget causing deficit funding for many years. Then legislature decided to start awarding extra good time for victimless crimes and that worked so well. They decided to raise the threshold for thefts and many other crimes. That worked so well the legislature decided more offenses should be able to get good time. County and city jails started filling up and crime started to increase. Now with wringing hands and furrowed brow the powers that be increased some penalties that were lowered after the truth in sentencing laws.

Some day people will understand that public safety comes before social programs. Certainly the programs have a place but not at the expense to public safety

All of human history demonstrates that when deterrence is lax crime increases. Yet people refuse to acknowledge it.

@2:27 - there has to be a balance. Sure living in a police state with no privacy would lead to less crime, but who really wants to leave the USA for a heavy handed police state like China? There are a lot of costs associated with housing large portions of the population in prisons and not all of those costs are purely financial.

I'm 1 of the Taxpayers who doesn't mind paying Taxes if it means "Lock them Up", I understand trying to rehabilitate, trying to lessen the cost of incarceration etc, etc. Humans only respect the loss of Freedom & Justice Administered quickly. I believe we're failing at both of these situations. it's time to spend more to keep Them In Jail-like serve full sentences brought forth by a Judge-Not an Economist.

Meanwhile, crime in the capital city is drastically decreasing according to the latest figures from the current Chief of Police.

Just look at the stats, right. Numbers don't lie, right.

@9:11AM (1)

WE taxpayers, not US taxpayers. Take the word taxpayers out and it’s either WE have to support or US have to support. Simple as that.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
