Guest Appointed to Appropriations Committee

Congressman Michael Guest issued the following statement.

Congressman Michael Guest (MS-03) has been recommended by the Republican Steering Committee to serve on the House Appropriations Committee for the 118th Congress. The Steering Committee recommendations will now go before the Republican Conference to be ratified. Congressman Guest noted the long-standing tradition of Mississippi Members serving on the committee.

“I’m honored to join a distinguished list of Mississippians who have served our great state on the Appropriations Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives. Since the late Congressman Jamie Whitten, a Mississippian has served on Appropriations, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue this important tradition,” Congressman Guest said. “I plan to devote sincere attention to the priorities of our great state and to tackle some of the most important issues facing our nation by using the power of the purse. I am committed to advancing the Republican efforts to create a brighter future for our state and nation while promoting fiscal responsibility in the House of Representatives following four years of excessive spending led by our Democratic counterparts.”

“Given the reckless spending we’ve seen over the past few years, our Committee’s work will be at the forefront of the national debate. Fortunately, we have assembled a strong team to fight for fiscal responsibility. Members on our Committee represent all aspects of the conference – politically and geographically. I am confident that our new Members, who bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise with them, will provide valuable insight to the Committee,” Chairwoman of the House Appropriations Committee Kay Granger said.

“Since taking office, Michael Guest has worked tirelessly to represent his district. This new position on the House Appropriations Committee will give him a powerful hand in advancing Mississippi’s interests in Congress. This is good news for our men and women in uniform, our research universities, and our city and county officials. I look forward to working with him and the other members of our delegation to support our state,” Senator Wicker said.

“I am confident my friend, Congressman Guest, will serve on the House Appropriations Committee with distinction and honor, just as he has since Mississippians elected him to represent their best interests in Congress,” said Senator Hyde-Smith, who serves on the Senate Appropriations Committee.  “I congratulate him on this new committee assignment and look forward to working with him.”

“I enthusiastically support my colleague and friend, Michael Guest, in his new assignment on the Appropriations Committee. Michael is a results-driven fighter for Mississippi’s Third Congressional District. Strong, conservative Mississippi representation on the Appropriations Committee has been vital for Mississippi Agriculture, which helps feed and keep the nation secure,” Congressman Trent Kelly said.

“Michael and I both have a background in law enforcement, and we understand that a strong team is the key to success. Our state and our conference need Michael on the Appropriations Committee because he understands the importance of working together to get things done,” said Congressman Mike Ezell.

Prior to his selection to the Appropriations Committee, Congressman Guest served on the Committee on Homeland Security, the Foreign Affairs Committee, and the Ethics Committee in the 116th Congress; and the Committee on Homeland Security, the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, and the Ethics Committee in the 117th Congress.

Woo Hoo! How great will this be? Someone who's done so much during his time in Washington that I've never heard him mentioned by name in the media or anyone else (well, unless you consider him being called by name in a negative way - when he voted to empanel the J6 committee. And, of course, I'm fully expecting the "oh, but he didn't REALLY vote for that....he was really voting for something his constituents just didn't understand, so he's ok" crowd to come alive). What a win for Mississippi and the rest of the country! I can see that all of his fellow backslappers are just as impressed!

I had such high hopes for this guy. You know, like being the next Trey Gowdey or something. What happened? Did Gregg Harper and/or Roger Wicker get to him and advise him how things "really work" in Washington?

I regret to say I had low expectations of Guest as a congressman and he’s met them.

Welcome to the looters and pillager's club ye without character.

Like Harper before him Guest's only focus is kissing party leadership booty. Harper voted so many times with Pelosi you'd swear he was elected as a Donkeycrat.

Chip Pickering = Greg Harper = Michael Guest , no difference in anyone of them, nobody outside of central Mississippi remembers the first two and no one will remember the third. All they are is Check cashiers , all three of them. No meaningful legislation from any of them.

Fair enough, but Mr. Guest, do not vote yes again to send our tax dollars to Ukraine! USA First!

Anonymous said...

1:35 for the win.
Amen.

Anonymous said...

He better not send any money to Mississippi!

He better vote to cut all aid to Mississippi!

Fuck Mississippi!

Thank you, Congressman Guest, for not being a grand-standing, publicity-seeking pile of human debris pandering to the cameras and mouth-breather trumpians. Thank you for working diligently for your constituents. Pay no attention to the naysayers. Keep working hard. The effort is noticed and appreciated.

Looks like his loyalty to the deep state has paid off.

lol @ all the belly acres in here. Guest could’ve been appointed chairman and y’all would’ve bitched about it. Ain’t no pleasing the bitching crowd, always something to bitch about but not actually do anything other than that.

@3:33
No belly aching here.
Just reminding Judas how he got his bag of silver.

I'm celebrating this. Good for Michael. And good for Mississippi.

I don’t want to argue, but I’ll take bait chummed by 3:22 and 3:33. Please make the case for Guest being a good Congressman. I already know he’s a clean cut, conservative guy.
I promise not to rebut whatever you write. I’m open minded and would like to be shown wrong about our congressman.

Guest rides the RINO trail to Wicker's Senate seat? Insider trading, legal in the Senate, "is f'ing golden".

"Chip Pickering = Greg Harper = Michael Guest"

Let's extend that a bit, into home territory.

Pickering = Harper = Guest = Shanks

I hear that Shanks and Guest are cousins, both being lightweights having dreams of significance.

Meanwhile, Rome burns as they gather for breakfast.

Guest may be a social conservative but MS hasn’t had a financially conservative representative in decades!

Mississippians love them some PORK!!!!

Anonymous said...

Hope he does more to help the country than he did on the Home Land Security committee....anyone seen the southern border lately? Guess sure hasn't...
"MS Values"...lol
Being Bennies butt boy is all he did on the Home Land 'security' committee..

PS 3:08, 3:50 hello Mrs. Guest...how are you?

Who is going to challenge Guest in 24? And Wicker too please?

Feel free to name one state that doesn't. Go ahead, don't be shy. Name a state that would rather not have the bacon brought home, that would reject federal projects or grants, etc. Go ahead. I'll check back in the morning to see your list.

Jealousy!!
I’m sure all the cats who have everything figured out would actually make a drop in the bucket in DC!
Btw Matt Gaetz was on the the House floor cozied up with AOC trying to cut a deal! So think about that next time you want to believe those 20 rebels were actually fighting for you and not their bank accounts.

Anonymous said...

What ever happened to the transplant that attempted to challenge Guest last election? Has anyone seen or heard of that guy?

Anonymous said...

January 12, 2023 at 11:09 PM, how do you know they were cutting a deal? Are you privy to the conversation they had?

To be perfectly frank with you, I don't real care if the holdouts accomplish anything, or not. It may have been a dog, and pony show for all I know, but it was good to see something besides the status quo.

Anonymous said...

@11:09 pm

who's bank account is really high, what is it now 9,10 million that he reports? Public service really pays off.

Matt Gaetz is recognized because he stands for American citizens rights and works and fights for American freedoms.
Mike is invisible and unremarkable.

And the 'jealousy' is real.
Both from you because you know this is true about Mr. Guess and from we as voters because we long for strength and leadership in taking a stand for American rights and freedoms like we see from other representatives outside of MS.

Since you have all the inside scoop from the floor of the house, who has Mike been 'cozied up with"?

Anonymous said...

I thought he was supposed to be the Chair for Homeland Security? He was second only to the Congressman from NY who retired.

What happened?

Also, wasn't he supposed to be the head of Ethics?

Anonymous said...

What happened?

Pork. When given the opportunity to dole and direct pork Mississippi federal representation always throws their conservative talking points, er, principles right out the window and runs crazy mad direct for the pork.

Anonymous said...

January 13, 2023 at 9:51 AM, I'm going to help you out here, because you ain't too bright.

The prostitutes, sorry, I meant politicians, in D.C. have proven without doubt that they are going to give away money.

It is my position, as well as all others intelligent enough, to recognize this compulsive behavior, by D.C. politicians, is that if money is to be given away, and rest assured money will be given away, that money should be given to the states that the federal government has subjugated. Not some foreign government.

Yes, I know, that is a long run-on sentence, but it's one helluv a sentence. We want all the pork that can be delivered. If you want, you can write welcome to Ukraine on the welcome signs coming into the state. Send the pork, baby.

Does nothing then shows up a couple of months before election talking tough about the border. Wish there would’ve been more people paying attention during the primary to get him out first go around before the RINO-Brigade charged in to lead him across the finish line for another term.

Anonymous said...

8:14, both seen and heard. What’s your point other than appears you drank a big jug of the RINO Kool-aid?

Anonymous said...

With a bachelor's in accounting and a law degree, he can do a good job on appropriations if he chooses to put "Country" first.
I voted for him and have my fingers crossed he has the guts to "do the right thing" despite the politics of the moment.

Anonymous said...

@11:19, your skepticism is noted.

Anonymous said...

“Four years of excessive spending “ which you voted for in lock step with the Democrats! Ballotpedia even defines him as “leans right” , yeah he bends over alright.

Anonymous said...

putting the country first he must lead these imbeciles to raise the debt ceiling before everyone's 401K bottoms out.

Wow said...

That majority of these comments affirm for me why I strongly believe in a Republic and not a direct democracy. Alas that property ownership and tax requirements have long been eliminated as a prerequisite to vote.

All the Backwoods Mississippi peasants commenting on here wanting our congressman to be some type of publicity-seeking, activist congressman that gets on TV but actually accomplishes nothing for our state is laughable.

We are a state of 3MM people. I am grateful that instead of loudmouths, we have a history of crafting a federal delegation that goes to Washington to work and get things done for our state.

The republicans put 14 old Men and 3 Old Women at Chairmen of their committees. That’s really looking to the future of the party . Eleven voted to not certify the most recent election . Which should be a disqualifier, fortunately Guess was not. He has served honorably.

1) Michael is not worth 9+ million dollars . When he was DA he drove a used Saturn !
2) As far as the bulk of analysis on Gaetz, never meet your hero’s

It is going to be fun, watching the republicans piss on themselves for 2 years .

I was wondering, didn't we have someone from MS on the Homeland Security committee that was a MS values guy?

"In his latest review of the Twitter Files, a supplemental to drive home the importance of what is visible – and what was kept hidden, Matt Taibbi focuses attention on the activity of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI), and how they monitored public comments on Twitter and gave instructions to the platform on what content should be removed and/or controlled.

Pause for a moment and think about that."

Someone once said, 'never meet your hero'. I'd add especially an invisible one.

Anonymous said...

It must include 1950's sideburns.

@2:20 pm—Backwoods Mississippi peasants may be an under statement. I think these bashers of all things are Alex Jones believers and Orange Man worshipers..I wish you haters would start your own party and quit embarrassing us RINOs and losing us votes from the moderates and independents. Maybe the haters could join up with the Congressional Progressive Party and form their own party and go scream at each other. A good name may be the Nuts Party.

Anonymous said...

Shouldn't the prior Twitter regime be investigated for possibly interfering with a federal election? Regardless of their right to censor comment since not subject to the control of the first amendment.

And surely our House majority will result in widespread investigation of this criminal conduct on the part of our federal agency employees. If not, we will see how spineless, gutless and ball-less the republican party is.

I’m so glad we have a conservative (lol) accountant degree on the appropriations committee!

Here is an idea, assets vs liabilities= what we can afford.
Bring in X spend X…not CTZABX

Not enough $ for Mobama walking trail? Cut
Not enough 569 mill forNGOs to traffic illegals ? Cut
Not enough for Ukraine Paris shopping trip? Cut

“ Really? How about some simple things like if you’re going to increase the borrowing authority, add more debt to the nation’s — to our nation’s bottom line here, why not at least have a budget that you have to put in place?
“ At least tell the American people, here’s what we’re going to — we’re going to borrow more money that we don’t have here’s at least how we’re going to prioritize the spending of that money. They don’t even want to do that. So, I just do not get this….
we can’t do anything different other than just borrow more money, spend more money.”

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
