14th Child Dies from Covid

The Mississippi State Department of Health issued the following statement.

Today, the Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) is confirming its 14th COVID-19 death in a child under 18.

Since the first cases of COVID-19 were identified in Mississippi in March of 2020, the MSDH has reported the following pediatric deaths per year:

  • 2020
    • One death in the 1-5 year age range
    • One death in the 6-10 year age range

  • 2021
    • One death in an infant under 1 year of age
    • One death in the 1-5 year age range
    • Five deaths in the 11-17 year age range

  • 2022
    • One death in the 1-5 year age range
    • Three deaths in the 11-17 year age range

  • 2023
    • One death in an infant under 1 year of age

MSDH State Epidemiologist Dr. Paul Byers said this latest death serves as a stark reminder of the importance of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and up to date on boosters to protect vulnerable individuals we have contact with who may not be eligible for vaccine.

“Vaccination not only protects you, but it also protects those around you who may not be eligible for vaccination or who may be at higher risk for complications due to age or underlying health problems,” said Dr. Byers. “It is important to stay up to date and receive the most recent bivalent booster when eligible in order to provide the best protection against infection, hospitalization, and death from COVID-19.”

Vaccination against COVID-19 is recommended for everyone 6 months of age and older. Vaccination and boosters are especially important for adults 65 and older, children and adults who have weakened immune systems, and anyone with underlying health problems. Anyone 6 months of age and older should remain up to date on COVID vaccinations including the bivalent booster if eligible.

COVID-19 vaccinations are available at no cost from county health departments. Vaccinations are also available at numerous pharmacies and private providers throughout the state.

Appointments can be made through covidvaccine.msdh.ms.gov or by calling the COVID-19 hotline at 877-978-6453.

Kingfish note: It would be useful to know if any of these children had pre-existing conditions.

This should be in the fine print of this press release:

“This statement is fully supported by Pfizer and Moderno. The long term effects are not yet fully understood. It is in the best interest of our shareholders and politicians that all citizens continue to support us by taking our jabs every six months.”

Without doubt, the families must be enduring absolutely horrible grief. Losing a child must be the worst nightmare known to mankind.

From a public health perspective, I agree with your note Kingfish. It would likewise be helpful to know if they died with Covid or from Covid. Reporting of those numbers has been somewhat unclear from the outset of the pandemic.

How it's reported to our Health Dept. is what they require.

Dr. Byers again pulls the trick of overstating the vaccine and it is the kind of exaggeration which turns people off to the public health community:

“Vaccination not only protects you, but it also protects those around you who may not be eligible for vaccination or who may be at higher risk for complications due to age or underlying health problems,” said Dr. Byers.

Vaccination absolutely helps those vaccinated. It greatly diminishes the risk of severe disease and death.

Vaccination does not protect third parties. The vaccinated are still infected. The vaccinated still transmit the disease to others. So vaccination does not help the "innocent bystander." And to claim that it does is false.

Report Dr. Byers for spreading dangerous medical misinformation here: https://complaints.msbml.ms.gov/Complaint/begin.aspx

Contact MSDH about Dr. Byers here: 601-576-7400.

Enough is enough. What the hell is Tater allowing to happen over at MSDH?

Vaccinations reduce the risk of severe disease or death by lowering the viral load. A lower viral load means less exposure to other people, which includes the unvaccinated.

Y'all calm down.

Please enlighten us by stating the TOTAL pediatric deaths in Mississippi for the same time period-

@ 1:19

What does total peds deaths during the same time period have to do with anything? I am assuming you are trying to draw a parallel between deaths overall and some sort of misguided hypothesis that covid did not significantly impact that number.

To say that is to also say a few more child deaths isn't a big deal and statistically these deaths were "expected"

I surely do not believe in your effort to sound like you know what you are talking about that is what you intended to say, is it 1:19?

Did you intend to say that this virus didn't statistically raise the number of child deaths so meh.........?

I hope you didn't reproduce and pass on those genetics

Another misinformed liberal spreading misinformation. Even the CDC Director stated viral loads were similar in the vaccinated and unvaccinated - https://www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2021/s0730-mmwr-covid-19.html.

Btw, What booster shot number are you on? #4? #6?

Is it just me, or do the "experts" telling us these things, tend to come across as people who'd naturally view Americans as fair game and prey?

When I saw the title, I clicked on the story to laugh at the anti-vax nonsense that would inevitably appear here in the comments section. Y’all didn’t disappoint. Don’t forget to change out your tinfoil hats every couple of days, and remember that lizard people are real.

Not even China would allow mRNA vaccines to be given to it's people. Check it out for yourself.

I've worked a local hospital through this whole thing, including when we were COVID overflow. During the worst parts, about 10% of those were actually suffering from symptoms, the rest just tested positive when they were in the ER for something else. Make no mistake, people were dying, but even at the worst and with all my co-morbidities, I was still statistically about 3 times as likely to die in a car crash on the way to work than of COVID.
The only hospitalizations of COVID now are vaxxed, make of that what you will.
I'm seeing weird fungal infections of the brain like you typically only see with end-stage AIDS patients in the young and healthy, as well as "mystery" cases of disability due to nerve damage, endless blood clots and turbo cancers in also otherwise young and healthy patients.
All of these I've taken care of were vaxxed. Again, make of that what you will.
I'm now about 10 times more likely to expire in a car crash than of COVID, and I've certainly never considered giving up driving, so COVID is something to watch out for like all the nasty SuperBugs than only live in hospitals I'm exposed to, but not a cause for panic. We're all gonna die anyway, so my advice is to LIVE while you still have the chance. None of the dying ever said they wished they spent more time at work or cowering in fear of all the things that will kill you, they ALL wished they'd chosen to spend more time with family.
Stay happy, healthy, and as safe as practical brothers and sisters!

We have somewhere north of 697,000 people in Mississippi under the age of 18. So that's something like .002% of that population being killed by COVID. People are bad at weighing those kinds of risks and total deaths do help people put it in perspective. If 14 people under the age of 18 died from car wrecks in the same period, that would help people conceptualize that it's terrible, as that's one of the leading causes of death for that age group and we just essentially added a new cause of death that is basically as deadly as the one of the most common causes of death. (the actually number would be north of 200; not sure what it would be). Another relevant comparison would be there have been something like 2 pediatric flu deaths per year for the last dozen years. So having 14 die in less than 4 years indicates it's ball park 50% more deadly in those under 18 than the flu.

Of course the real number you probably want is at what rate those under 18 have adverse reactions to the vaccine shots, and also probably a breakdown of the health of those that die from COVID, so you can make some sort of educated decision on whether or not to vaccinate a healthy child under 18. But those numbers are hard to come by.

children dead from covid. instead of thinking 'wow, lets pray for the family of the deceased, or for the deceased' some of us choose to draw a political line and voice an opinion.

when did we forsake compassion for the altar of snark?

Your citation is from 1.5 years ago and referred to the Delta variant. “raised concern that, unlike with other variants, vaccinated people infected with Delta can transmit the virus.”

Zero Hedge is now including all the latest sudden cardiac deaths of vaccinated young people around the nation. So many are athletes too! These are cheeseburger fatties!

Although I disagree with 3:07, they aren’t citing a government website out of context and using it to try and substantiate their claims. Feel free to educate him yourself.

January 16, 2023 at 2:53 PM, I'm not against traditional vaccinations, but I am against this experimental gene therapy they are passing off as a vaccine. The covid vaccine fits the definition of gene therapy, not a traditional vaccine.

Never estimate the power of denial; remember that as we go forward. When will the tipping point occur?

So, to recap: A 91-year-old man with heart problems, obese, extremely high BP and Cholesterol, Afib and suffering also from diabetes is admitted to have a gangrenous toe amputated.

He dies post-surgery and cause of death is shown as Gangrene.

Would this be an appropriate parallel to the 'Covid' debacle?Especially if hospitals were paid five times the going rate for 'gangrene deaths'.

Kingfish:

I was told by someone VERY close to me working at UMMC in the Children’s Hospital through COVID that in at least two of these cases, including a recent one, that the child had other illnesses in addition to testing positive for the Wuhan flu. They are still reporting “dying with COVID” as “dying from COVID”.

The authorities are still lying and pushing a dangerous shot on us. To tell people to have children jabbed is unconscionable. Our state health officer obviously cannot be trusted.

It’s amazing that despite all the evidence to the contrary, some people still trust these authorities and continue to take dangerous “boosters” and call others “conspiracy theorists”.

Anonymous said...

Wait, there is really somebody trying to argue in these comments in 2023 that the COVID shot prevents one from getting COVID? What planet are you living on?

Anonymous said...

We do know that the number of COVID caused deaths were vastly overstated according to a recently released study. Simply being COVID positive didn’t mean the cause of was the cause of death, but that is how many deaths were reported. We also know that a number of experts on infectious diseases are not fans of vaccinating young people because, according to them, the benefits of vaccination do not justify the risks for healthy young people. Blanket calls for vaccination of healthy young people should be viewed with a healthy dose of skepticism.

I’ll soon be 70 years old. The LORD could take me in a millisecond before I type the next character of this email. I humbly acknowledge that fact and am NOT crowing about my current health – on the contrary, I am MOST thankful, the LORD has allowed me to travel this path this far and hope and pray to serve him better with each breath.

Now, that being said, I will add that the LORD has led me to spend a great deal of non-deductible / non-insurance-reimbursable funds on vitamins and supplements in a nutritionally preventative effort toward good health and to desperately avoid medical doctors. There are however a handful of medical doctors and professionals that I respect and admire. In fact, I from time to time schedule an appointment (when my family doctor has the time from others in need) mainly just to talk and/or confirm a particular self-diagnosed temporary malady or to get a few stitches from my physical labors.

This article and this statement by MSDH State Epidemiologist Dr. Paul Byers is totally irresponsible and ludicrous. Anyone with half cranial capacity can see there is something desperately wrong with this so called “vaccine” of mRNA nature – especially the administration of same to children. I totally agree with “Kingfish’s” postscript note:

“Kingfish note: It would be useful to know if any of these children had pre-existing conditions.”

I’ll go a step farther and question whether any of these unfortunate children were subjected to this glorious mRNA “vaccine” which is an admittedly gene altering chemical compound.
Wake up folks. It’s a racket to enrich the pharmaceutical industry and to develop and implement a true “weapon of mass destruction”. I wonder why MSDH State Epidemiologist Dr. Paul Byers is obviously of a different opinion?

MSDH State Epidemiologist Dr. Paul Byers, this man should be removed from his position, post-haste.

9:45 - So should 1:56 and 4:00/5:56. These know-it-all egg-heads who swill bourbon while reading medical journals are to medicine what organized religion is to Christianity. Both will be the downfall of that in which they muddle around.

1:56 here, I do enjoy bourbon so that was absolutely spot on

I am not sure about the "downfall of medicine" but I mean its only Wednesday so we'll see how the rest of the week shakes out.

Over 3M people in MS.
2-3 yr timeframe and 14 kids "die from cv19
So kids have a 0.0001% chance of dying from cv19?
Any pre existing conditions concerning these kids?
Then let's look at rate of side effects.

Let's have some perpective here instead of yelling " FOR THE CHILDREN !!!!"

And we wonder why "Science " and leaders of such have lost so much credibility during this....

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required.
