Kenneth Stokes had the last laugh on the Mayor as he announced at a press conference this afternoon the FAA told the Jackson Municipal Airport Authority to eject all Richard's Disposal garbage trucks from Hawkins Field.
Mr. Stokes held the presser at the office of the Martin & Martin law firm. (Start at 6:00). Richard's Disposal is leasing parking space for its garbage trucks at Hawkins Field. The JMAA lease agreement states the Crescent City company will pay $69,000 for the lease.
The City Council and Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba reached an impasse over awarding a new garbage contract so the Mayor awarded an emergency no-bid one-year contract to Richard's Disposal for garbage collection at the end of March when the Waste Management contract expired.
The City Council objected to the parking of the garbage trucks at Hawkins Field in an April 13 resolution.
Mr. Stokes charged the Mayor with practicing environmental racism by placing the garbage trucks near Jackson residents.

What about all of the oil the trucks are leaving all over the city? Garbage trucks making a hell of a mess.
Can Richards just GTFH
Chucky aint gonna like this.
Race card incoming in 3, 2, 1...
It appears by the language the FAA used, that Mr. Brown sent a request to the FAA about leasing standards asking their opinion. "The collective" won't be happy about Mr. Brown bringing attention to their wrongdoings.
Miles of land exists on highway 80.
Put them there….improve part of it
Where will Richards go now, since New Orleans cancelled their contract...
SO what KF? The FAA ain't gonna tell the Mayha what he can and can't do; hell, he will call his buddies up at Haaarvard and get them to educated those bureaucrats at Biden's FAA. And if that don't work, he will use his direct line to the Chairman of the Homeland Security Committee (God, that's a scary thought just to write it) and get him to explain that those garbage trucks are a priority security issue and that his boy mayor can't take the embarrassment of taking another kick in the arse over his doubling down with Richards.
Let's see how 'expeditiously' Richards gets those trucks off the property at Hawkins Field. Bet it won't be done this month. Any takers?
Richards (and by extension Lumumba) about to get slapped by the Federal hand.
They're planning to move them to the Convention Center.
"As expeditiously as possible" means nothing.
So the FAA is now racist !
Chok is an environemntal rascist.
That major award from Havard is looking more and more like Jackson's raw boo boo.
Pay the cowboy to park them at the fairgrounds, as it won't be used for anything anytime soon. Bwa ha ha ha.
It's an FAA funded airport, so the FAA can cut-off funding and more if the boy mayor doesn't comply.
4:16, try to keep up. The Homeland Security Chairman isn’t doing a potential congressional opponent or heir any favors. The Chairman is more Big Jim Eastland than embracer of the Collective’s “leader.”
Of course, there is also no doubt the Chairman will say he tried to help the Mayor.
But Antar told us the FAA had agreed with the arrangement with Richards Disposal.
Citizens: "Mayor Antar, this city has a lot of problems with water, sewer, streets, schools, and crime. The only thing that seems to work efficiently in this city is the garbage pickup. You need to fix that."
Mayor Antar: "Okay. I fixed it. Now the garbage doesn't work either."
Citizens: "That ain't what we meant."
Hey, 4:54, if they parked those big ass trash trucks at the fairgrounds, there would be the twin benefit of having something for fair-goers to hide behind during the inevitable gang warfare cross-fire.
But Antar told us the FAA had agreed with the arrangement with Richards Disposal.
That's exactly what we were told.
Keep tearing Jackson down while people work to bring Birmingham, Little Rock and Shreveport up. Most of you ain’t no better than His Honor much less Stokes who you trash all the time.
Move it to the zoo. Nobody goes there
5:20 gets post of the day and 5:33…you beat me to it.
3:52. Look on the bright side. All that oil tamps down the dust from the pot holes. Blessings aboud!
Using the city's airport for overnight storage of garbage. That's gonna look good in their ongoing case about the board. Isn't it still pending at the FAA?
Reeves won't care. He will give JMAA/Jackson what it wants in court, force state, to appeal, state wins appeal, plaintiffs create new issue, rinse, repeat.
Just put the garbage trucks in the Metro Center parking lot, as long as they don’t interfere with the giant Ferris Wheel and the Go-Kart track
5:47 PM
Remind me again what happened to the zoo, Melvin.
5:20 post of the month
What is the status of the airport takeover? How long has that been going in? Seems like a decade. State just needs to pony up.
Hey 5:47 rabid dogs always eat their own.
5:47 it would be different if the Mayor would do something positive for the City. Those other cities must have competent leadership. You should be banned from thinking. Or, at lest banned from typing.
The STOKES hat question is the most important question.
Thanks KF, that video was beyond priceless.
Ms Rita Brent should now have more new material for two more hit tunes.
(Stokes catching tadpoles and making mud-pies ...
raccoons & possums' on the runway ... birds causing plane crashes
in NYC).
Key and Peele could not come close to such acts.
If I were him, I'd close the airport just so I could keep my sacred garbage trucks.
He gone make sure they get paid so he get paid
Stokes is running for Mayor.
He needs Rita Brent as his campaign manager!
I heard the Richards trucks run on pure raw boo boo to help the environment.
Were they were flying the garbage @ Hawkins on a charter flight every night to Tijuana and bringing guns and dope back on the return flight?
Richards Disposal is far better than WM. They show up when they want to, put most of the trash in the truck, fill our air with fumes, and it takes three rings before the call to complain gets dumped. Three whole rings!
Use the trucks to cover up pot holes!
MetroCenter here they come !!! Like a bastard stepchild.
@7:27 AM - Cover up? Hell no, use the trucks to fill-in the potholes. Start with the ones that have their own zipcode.
@8:15 AM - Yes! Park them at the Metro Center. The shoppers could drop their garbage off while shopping at Jackistan's flagship retail venue.
I have to believe 5:47 is a troll. Or Melvin...which is basically the same.
Verbal insults are the reason Jackson is not Birmingham?
You type that with a straight face?
How moronic can one voting block be, to STILL not be able to properly assign blame?
If Lord Chuck took a jack hammer to the skreets he still would not be to blame for the new potholes, right?
Also, I ordered a Stokes black trucker hat off Etsy for less than $20 and will be wearing it unironically.
5:47 - pointing out the various ways the mayor is making the city worse isn’t “tearing down Jackson.” It’s calling out the mayor for his constant failure. The first step to Jackson looking like the cities you mention is getting competent city leadership and people should keep pointing out the mayor’s incompetence.
9:15 : Until our local MEDIA go after him daily in person and on nightly broadcasts there will be nothing. Honestly I believe the MEDIA wants him as mayor and may even fall for his act.
As far as I can tell, there are three areas the mayor took a personal in interest in managing himself:
1. JPD
2. The zoo
3. garbage collection
It's time to just this mayor by the results of his actions, not his intentions or his rhetoric.
Chokwe will veto this letter.
Hey 5:47........
Telling the truth isn't tearing jackson down.
Guess you don't understand crime statistics that has been on all three news stations since Sunday morning. Guess you're like the boy mayor. If we don't talk about it, then it didn't happen.
You can talk about all the "come back" of the cities, but it isn't going to happen in jackson in your lifetime.
Just remember, dumbazzes being removed from the gene pool isn't a bad thing!
“They [JMAA] did require, and they did achieve and receive approval [Richards' usage of Hawkins facilities] from the FAA for the term of one year.”
