Bennie Thompson: Insurrectionist Supporter

Congressman Bennie Thompson chairs a House of Representatives investigation into the January 6 riots. However, the Bolton Congressman supported a group of insurrectionists and cop – killers in 1971. John Solomon reported in Just the News on October 4:

Rep. Bennie Thompson, the Mississippi Democrat who chairs the congressional commission investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, has been a vocal critic of an event he deems an insurrection and offered his sympathy to the police officers injured that day. He's even gone as far as to sue former President Donald Trump for responsibility for the melee.

But as a young African-American alderman in a small Mississippi community in 1971, Thompson placed himself on the opposite side, openly sympathizing with a secessionist group known as the Republic of New Africa and participating in a news conference blaming law enforcement for instigating clashes with the group that led to the killings of a police officer and the wounding of an FBI agent. Thompson's official biography makes no reference to the separatist RNA....

By 1971, RNA was under constant FBI surveillance as it sought to move its "capital" to a 20-acre plot of farmland in Thompson's hometown of Bolton, Miss., with an adjunct headquarters in the capital city of Jackson, Miss., where RNA members threatened to renounce their U.S. citizenship and create a separate New Africa country in the U.S. Southeast.

In spring 1971, Mississippi law enforcement got a tip that a member of the RNA wanted on an outstanding warrant might be traveling in Bolton in a stolen car, the memos show.  A squad of officers encountered the RNA members and arrested many of them for hindering the investigation. The fugitive and car weren't found, but many of the group's members were held on bond.

Thompson and a state lawmaker held a news conference after the arrests, one captured on video and preserved at the Mississippi Department of Archives & History. Thompson took the lead in bashing law enforcement for pursuing RNA, claiming officers were "often times beating and kicking those who emphasized their constitutional rights."

"My utmost concern in this matter is to see that people who reside or pass through the town of Bolton are treated fairly and given every opportunity afforded them by law," Thompson said in the archival news footage. "This was not done in the case of the Republic of New Africa. They are charged with obstructing justice. ... I believe this is an attempt on part of law enforcement officials to stop the Republic from building its community."

Thompson suggested the group be left alone if it was law abiding. But by the time Thompson had uttered those words, the FBI had already determined the group had engaged in multiple violent crimes, and posed a national security threat with its stated plan to take over the states of Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, South Carolina and Georgia to create a secessionist new country for African-Americans.

The sheriff who led the arrests told a far different story than Thompson's, saying officers who went to execute an arrest warrant were met with resistance and that officers found a large cache of weapons and ammunition inside the group's facility.

"They started slamming doors in our face and running against the doors and cursing us, and we advised them we was the law, we had to come in," Hinds County Sheriff Fred Thomas is quoted as saying on the archived videotape.  "...They didn't want us to carry out our duties. So we had to make arrests upon these people. And in the meantime, we recovered numerous amounts of guns, ammunition, radio equipment, and a good many more things."....

A few months later, a more tragic clash ensued when FBI agents and Jackson police raided a home where RNA members were holed up in August 1971. The police were met with gunfire, which killed one officer and wounded a second officer and an FBI agent....

An Associated Press article published Aug. 28, 1971 in The Greenwood Commonwealth newspaper in Mississippi under the headline "Blacks Accuse Police" reported Thompson joined some black community leaders in Jackson to announce the formation of a justice group to support the RNA in the aftermath of the fatal shooting (The article is posted below.)... Rest of article

Kingfish note: Check out the glowing revisionist biography written by the Clarion – Ledger's "investigative reporter." This is not the first time the Congressman has talked out of both sides of his mouth when it comes to January 6. He wanted to prosecute his fellow members who voted against certifying the election http://kingfish1935.blogspot.com/2021/01/flashback-friday-when-bennie-voted.html. Of course, the so-called investigative reporter ignore that little fact.

Kudos to all who contributed to the ground-pounding that exposed all of this on that worthless bastard(Thompson) and the last 2 mayors of Jackson.
Most people don't even know who the RNA were or what they were trying to do, and many are simply too young to remember. Credible sources tell me that Jackson FBI severely underestimated how heavily armed/fortified that bunch was when they killed JPD Lt. Skinner and wounded an FBI agent in that shootout on Lewis St because JPD couldn't possibly have an informant that knew more about it than them becuase "We're the F B I...." IF they had listened the whole thing might have had a different outcome. Imgagine that. The JPD training academy was subsequently named after Lt. Skinner in his honor.

It's ridiculous to cite the Clarion Ledger for "facts" relating to race in 1971. The Baltimore Sun called the Clarion Ledger prior to the arrival of Rae Hederman in 1973 "the most racist newspaper in America". Even with all the race-baiting reporting I see no mention of a warrant at any time. Much is made of the presence of guns and ammuntion, both protected by the 2nd Amendment, if you were White in 1971 in Hinds County. Today the Castle Doctrine would have automatically protected the RNA members from prosecution. Finally, all should note that the RNA was an actual country just as much as the CSA.

If the “Insurrection” in January had not been a carefully orchestrated Alphabet Agency honeypot then the “Insurrectionists” would’ve all been strafed by gunships instead of allowed into the Capitol Rotunda. Since 9/11, violent protests only take place when they are permitted to do so for the cameras and for the benefit of the police state.

There has been a well documented Continuity of Government response plan in place since the Cold War and none of the SOPs took place during that Crisis Performance that took place.

It doesn’t matter to the special needs crew, Jan 6th and Orange Man Bad! is all they can repeat.

Thompson has found his calling.....he is now Nancy Pelosi's poodle.

Fetch, Bennie, fetch!

The Republic of New Africa (RNA) was an African American nationalist organization that sought to secure lands in five southern states. At around sunrise on August 18, 1971, a shootout erupted during a police raid at this location, and Jackson police officer Lt. Louis Skinner was killed. Why don’t they state who the Republic of New Africa murdered Lt. Louis Skinner with 3 small children one of which was Former Judge Bill Skinners’s father. Hatred breeds hatred! Let’s be perfectly clear!

Something some Democrats did. The only real thing I can tell this mope has done is make money off of his elected position. Sure as shit hasn't done shit for his constituents since being in DC. If so, lets she some links for ALL the so called work he's done other than sitting on his ass.

May Be? He's been a millionaire since his third year at the Fed Trough!

3:08, so please enlighten us on his new worth.

Alec Baldwin has killed more than all the Jan 6 protestors combined.

Has Bennie’s home town even got a grocery store and a traffic light? He’s really done a lot for his voters! Lol

"as a young African-American alderman" So just to be clear, race doesnt matter if we are talking about a white person, but when its a black, we need to include that for clarity...is that the rule???

78% of the revolving economic income/outgo in Mississippi Congressional District II is transfer payments. Bennie is happy as a pig in shit.

At one time he was strong-arming the catfish processors in the Delta for donated product to satisfy his annual fish-fries. He may still do that. Not sure.

This brings to mind the old, often mis-attributed saying (paraphrased, obviously, for the circumstances): if you aren't a rootin' tootin' protestin' liberal in your 20s you have no heart but if you aren't a crime-fightin' done-made-my-money conservative by 40, you have no brain. Oh, and another one: it ain't hypocrisy if you don't mean none of it no-how...

Hmmmmm
KF, where the old newspaper clippings showing armed RNA members guarding the premises?
Chowkey’s daddy was a minister in the cabinet of a copkilling band of insurrectionists ?

As per usual let’s shoot the investigator, I guess all sins of 1/6 should be forgiven of the congressmen and women who6 aided these criminals who attacked the capitol. Shame on you kingfish, it you want to be like Kim Wade I am sure supertalk has a show for you sling whatever bs you want.

The racist bigot still will not "fly"/post the Mississippi flag outside of his Washington office where where he has no white staffers.

When did the RNA commit an act of insurrection? They were armed and advocated for separation and independence but were always being raided or attacked by the authorities. There are plenty of armed militant groups today who parade around with firearms. Attack them and they will probably shoot back. Just sayin'.

Anonymous said...

Wow! So if you support resistance to vaccine mandates it's the same as supporting an insurrection? Or if you celebrate Independence Day you are an insurrectionist? Bennie has been a shill for the ultra-libs but this argument don't fly.

Anonymous said...

8:03, that is the point. The folks at the Capitol on Jan 6 were not insurrectionists either. He was against the police harassing groups they don't agree with politically until he was for it.

Jackson FBI Agents had audio recordings in the late 1980’s of Bennie Thompson taking bribes (Operation Pretense) along with Louis Armstrong and his son to re zone the city for strip clubs when he was first elected to Congress. DOJ blocked the indictment because they thought it would be racist to indict a newly elected black democratic congressman from Mississippi. Armstrong and his son served federal time while Bennie became an elected millionaire. Ain’t life grand?

In his previous occupation Bennie was a high school teacher. I'm sure he just saved that $20 million by living frugally while he was teaching. Quite a few K-12 educators have amassed similar fortunes. After all, many get second jobs during their summers off. That money adds up fast.

10:05 Your point is probably well taken. KF's and Solomon's not so much.

Hey Bolton, this is what 100 dollars and some free BBQ gets these days ? Oh wait, I mean gets for the last 20/30 years. Quit taking Bennies bribes and vote this turd out.

Anonymous said...

Bolton is a dump. I hunt around there and come through all the time. A few years ago I saw Bennie driving a silver Landcrusier with Georgia plates. Can anyone confirm he still has residence in Mississippi? Does he "stay" here or Atlanta?

Anonymous said...

12:12 : Bennie flies in and out and only goes to Bolton for the yearly BBQ and bribe parties put on by Uncle Ted.

Anonymous said...

@1:36
That’s pretty common. You don’t see Michael Guest around town anymore either. Once you’ve spent time in DC, it is really hard to stomach this backward shithole of a state.

Anonymous said...

Only person with better enunciation than Bennie is Babs Blackmon.

Anonymous said...

Fact Here: At one time, the Jackson International Airport (plus whatever else the rest of its name was) hosted a well lit, marked-off, front-row parking for Bennie right at the front door. That's where he parked his antique truck between flights. He probably parks in an underground bunker now with Chokwe standing by with an umbrella.

But, as to the Land Cruiser, all of them drive rentals, most with Georgia plates, but I doubt the others rent that kind of ride when in town. Phil picks Cindy up in a buckboard.

3:34 After his lack-of-judgement vote FOR the January 6th commission, hopefully 'ol Mike's going to get the chance to move back here permanently next year!

Anonymous said...

Seems like RNA got their way in the long run, at least as far as Bolton and Jackson go.

Anonymous said...

8:12 is one of the Guest has nothing to worry about, a lot of folks are going along with the crowd saying this stupid stuff, but the majority in this country knows better, Mississippi will remain in the minority for the foreseeable future because of this kind of thinking as the country moves in a progressive direction Congressman Thompson will be a gate keeper and the state’s Savior. Guest will at least get to knock at the door.

Anonymous said...

Bennie is an embarrassing, barely-literate buffoon. Full stop.

Chokwe, The Elders, plan would have been a huge success had he simply limited it in scope to what is now the Second District. The man was a visionary like no other.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
