Carlos Moore Sanctioned for Tantrum at Hearing

The Mississippi Workers' Compensation Commission sanctioned Carlos the Clown in 2017 after he threw a temper tantrum at a hearing.

Carlos Moore, Esq. represented  the mother and minor children of Kendrick Murray. Kendrick, was a car hop at a Hattiesburg Sonic Drive-In.  He began suffering seizures after he fell and struck his head at work.   An ambulance took him to the hospital.  Paramedic administered several drugs to treat the seizures.  A neurosurgeon diagnosed him with a blood clot in the brain and a cerebral contusion with herniation (parts of brain are squeezed past the skull).  He died on September 12, 2015.  He was 25 years old.

His estate filed a petition to controvert with the Workers Comp Commission in December 2015.  Ms. Murry retained Carlos Moore and the Moore Law Group.

Mr. Moore signed and submitted a petition to the Commission that stated he was representing "Adrian Murry,.. on her behalf and on behalf of her minor children."  A Commissioner told Mr. Moore that he would have to obtain approval from a Chancery Court for settlement of the minor's claim.  The Grenada attorney said he "only represented Adrian Murry and not the minor children."  The fun began when the Commissioner responded:

The Commissioner was still addressing Counsel and explaining that the minor children needed representation and Chancery Court approval of the settlement when counsel stood up and walked out of the Commissioner's office. The Commissioner then stated, "Excuse me, I am still talking about the settlement;" and counsel responded, "What do you want?" in an abrasive and unprofessional manner. Counsel made this representation even though the settlement paperwork he signed clearly indicated1 recovery was being sought "on behalf of' Adrian Murry's minor children. Counsel informed the Commissioner he would resubmit the settlement paperwork and have it reviewed by a different Commissioner. Counsel then stated that he would request and make sure he would never come before this particular Commissioner in the future.
The Commission fined Carlos the Clown $250 for his tantrum and making assertions that were "contrary" to the specific language in the documents filed.

The sanctions and punishments  continue to pile up against Mr. Moore.  How many penalties have been levied against Mr. Moore? Let us count the ways.

* The Mississippi Court of Appeals ordered Carlos Moore to pay sanctions of $27,467 after he failed to appear in court for a trial because he had a "speaking engagement" in Texas. Earlier post.

* Mississippi Bar reprimanded him in 2020 for ignoring an assignment of a Client's funds and providing the funds to the client. Earlier post.

* Federal judge in North Mississippi sanctioned Moore for $3,000 in 2017 for fabricating statements, memos, and not responding to discovery.

*  U.S. District Judge Carlton Reeves sanctioned Moore $500 in the Belhaven case after he found Moore's client destroyed evidence in 2017.  Earlier post.

*  The Tennessee Bar censured the Grenada attorney in 2019 after he placed a lien on a client because she rejected a settlement offer he recommended.  Earlier post.

Problems continue for the attorney.  Ms. Murry sued him (pro se) last week in Forrest County Circuit Court for alleged legal malpractice in this case.  Earlier post.

Mr. Moore is the President-Elect of the National Bar Association.

It's been said many times before and I'll say it again: How in the heck is this disgrace to the legal profession allowed to keep his law license? When will the courts step up and do something?

It really illustrates just how low the reputation of Mississippi is with lawyers outside the state. Carlos can claim that because of his "activism" he is being constantly persecuted by this racist state judiciary. The black lawyers around the country naturally believe this crap. After all, it IS Mississippi. In the meantime Carlos waits for the big one that will make him really famous.

I don't expect the MS Bar to do anything to Mr Moore. After all, the MS Bar did nothing to Dickie Scruggs until after the Feds handled the case

The problem lies with the people who continue to hire him.

Because the Mississippi Bar has no spine.

Has Carlos paid these sanctions?

Dickie Scruggs is an American hero

With all those sanctions piling up, it is obvious now why Carlos needs that $300 he is trying to collect from the Magnolia Bar Association.

This guy should be disbarred, unless the bar is just going to have no standard of conduct at all. When people tell me that lawyers should be among the exceptions to eliminating vocational licensing requirements in the state, this type of thing flies in the face of that argument. The only reason anyone would ever hire this clown is because think "license to practice law" is some sort of threshold of competency. It is not.

Absolutely @10:25. And attorneys wonder why they have such a bad reputation. Here's Exhibit No. 3,584. You may say that this individual's bad actions shouldn't reflect on all of you, but the fact that he's still allowed to practice should. Pressure could be put on the Association to have him disbarred, judges could refuse to allow him in their courtroom.

The Bar is scared of being called racist. If Carlos were white, he'd be gone already.

One who brings an action under the Wrongful Death statute, Miss. Code. Ann. § 11-7-13, does so for for the benefit of all wrongful death beneficiaries. Also, chancery approval of minors' settlements is the rule, not the exception.

Sounds like old Carlos needs $. Probably living beyond his means!

He does have a $27,000 judgment he is going to have to pay because the Supremes will probably uphold it.

He should have been at least suspended for the Belhaven case.

KF you are not even a lawyer.....just stop

Like 9:47, I'd like to know if he has paid those sanctions that are not currently on appeal. If not, those parties/courts are failing in their responsibilities to hold him accountable through contempt proceedings.

Sounds like Chokwe The Elder? How many times was he sanctioned for pissing off judges? Carlos is a clown, just not the original.

10:43 You hit the nail on the head with your comment.
KF- Can you add a emoji for the best comment in a tread?
This would really add a lot. Competing for the best tread would add a lot of electricity to JJ.
I like reading all the blogs finding the best thought of the day, especially since I can hardly put two thoughts together myself.

3:49 Chokwe the elder was a pretty good lawyer. He may have pissed off a few judges but so have most of the best defense lawyers and he's not accused of half-assed representation. Politics be damned but a pretty good lawyer.

The best attorneys I know, actually all the attorneys I know personally (and that's quite a few), would be embarased to be held in contempt of court or otherwise sanctioned by a judge. It's certainly no badge of honor or right of passage, and is not indicative of "speaking truth to power."

Is this the same Carlos Moore?...of Grenada?...June 14 2020

Supposedly her Attorney's were filing a civil suit against the sheriff's dept.

Mississippi woman, Kaileigh Schmidt, 21, spends a night in jail after saying her father and step-mom were racist in Facebook posts and sharing their phone numbers with Antifa and Black Lives Matter activists leading to them receiving death threats

Schmidt, a former Jones College student who identifies herself on Facebook as JCJC’s most beautiful in 2017.

Video of Press Conference...
The rumor that she may be in trouble surfaced Friday afternoon on the steps of Jones County Justice Court, when attorneys Carlos Moore of Grenada and Javaron Buckley of Chicago organized a press conference to address questions about the unusual case that made national headlines. Chantelle Dunn, Schmidt’s biological mother, appeared alongside the attorneys in support of her daughter; a family member named Cody Abadie opposed the attorneys, calling Moore a “lying piece of s#&t.”

8:02 - Pay attention! The subject here is sanctions, not who you might consider a 'pretty good lawyer'. If you think 'most of the best defense lawyers' have been sanctioned, you're nuts. Being sanctioned in court is not something most lawyers brag about when they gather for coffee and a biscuit at McDonalds.

The Mississippi Bar is a joke and their inaction in regard to Mr. Moore’s conduct shows it is a paper tiger despite all the puffery about ethics and the sanctity of the Bar between drinks at the convention in Destin. If I could withhold my dues I would.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
