Do NOT, repeat, do NOT try this at home.
Read through the replies to the tweet and the actual homeowner tells the rest of the story.

Yep seen it happen before. OUCH!! Appears to be a landscaper based on the blue trailer in the video; better home he has some good ‘surance. I don’t do tweeter - what did the homeowner have to say about this incident?
You can hire a guy that has cut down 1000 trees but he cant control gravity or the wind. That's why you only hire the guy that is LICENSED BONDED and INSURED.
Cut from top, down. No insurance needed. Just a pair of spikes.
Nature has a funny way of getting back at people
That SUCKS but I cant stop laughing. Where was this?
That guy didn't have a clue as to how to bring down a tree that size....obviously. I'll bet he disappears off the grid soon.....
So, exactly where did this person think he was going to fell this tree? If he was a professional at this he would have climbed it, delimbed it, then cut it down in sections. Anyone can see there was no where to lay that tree down. The fall radius on all sides were too small
Waited as bit to hear a gunshot, but never came. Loved him dropping the chainsaw like, "It wasn't me man".
A tree that size would have hit something coming down in that neighborhood. Something and anything.
I watched a professional tree service company take down a pine tree just about like that one in my neighbors yard this past Friday. They had a 90 ft. man lift that a guy was working out of. He cut the limbs as he lifted himself up towards the top of the tree. Once he reached the top, he cut 6-8 ft. sections and just let them fall at the base of the tree. He knew exactly what he was doing, and it took him maybe 30-45 minutes to bring down the whole tree. Very impressive work.
And this my friends is why you dont do it yourself or take the cheapest quote.
Ruins the video that they didn't catch him saying "hold my beer and watch this" just before he started the saw!
I watched an idiot/unlicensed tree trimmer at the the top of a same sized tree
all most kill himself.
He sawed off the branch his safety lines ropes were attached to . . .
Dude fell to Earth like a lead balloon.
Thank God he didn't get hurt too bad, but the owner that hired
that crew almost had a heart attack.
Our neighborhood had never seen so many ambulances arrive at one house.
They agreed on a price of $1200 for this? I had a guy take 5 trees out of my yard a few years ago, and with climbing, cutting, sawing, removal and stump grinding it was about $2000 and this guy didn't come anywhere close to hitting my house.
If you watch real tree cutters, they have a crew including a climber and a cutter and guys who pull the rope that the climber ties up high so the tree comes down where they intend it to. They also take it down in pieces, starting with the top.
This is Bugs Bunny type tree removal. At least it was funny.
This happened in Houston.

It looks like the guy on the bottom was trying to pull a rope but he didn't have enough weight. As he's running away it looks like he's letting out the rope, and you can see what looks like a rope swinging from the trunk as it topples. My guess is they were hoping to pull it diagonally toward the bottom right of the frame, right in the middle of the street. Good thing they failed because a car drives by right after it hits the house. Had he been "successful" he might have killed the people in that car.
This could have been a "WAY" to get a new roof without having to wait months until the next hail storm...I knew a guy back in the 70s, he had a great insurance agent. Had (5) FIVE houses burn within sight of each other over a 12 year period. & they were always out of town. He always got junked appliances from a dump site, stoves, refrigerators, freezers, water heaters, air conditioners....took the working ones out, put the junk ones in..."They were working before the house burned"...
