State Auditor Shad White issued the following statement.
State Auditor Shad White announced that Megan Berry, former Caledonia Park Commission (CPC) Treasurer, has pleaded guilty to one count of Embezzlement. Berry took public funds that came into her possession by virtue of her employment with the CPC and pocketed the money for her own personal use.
“I’m grateful that we’re able to work with prosecutors around the state on cases like this,” said State Auditor Shad White. “We will continue to work on cases big and small to ensure your money is spent properly.”
Berry was prosecuted in Lowndes County Circuit Court. Berry was sentenced to five years with five suspended and five years post release supervision and has been ordered to pay $12,256.65 in restitution and $600 in fines.
