Attorney Corey Ferraez spent the night in jail after Perry County Chancellor Sheila Smallwood took him to the woodshed yesterday in Chancery Court.
The Pine Belt Chancellor ordered his incarceration after he failed to deposit $450,000 of a wrongful death settlement with the court.
Posted below is some lagniappe in this case: Judge Smallwood's amended incarceration order, transcript from Judge Smallwood's questioning of Ferraez's paralegal, and some other stuff.
Ferraez's former law partner posted this message and pictures on Facebook. Ferraez is under indictment for allegedly embezzling funds that were supposed to go to the firm.
Today marks 3 weeks since Attorney Cory Ferraez has been under an order directing his immediate incarceration related to funds belonging to an estate in the amount of $450,000. Details below. Cory remains a fugitive at large. Sadly the victim and/or alleged victims list continues to grow. When Cory went under investigation in 2021 he drastically changed his appearance dying his hair bleach blonde. Below are some different photos. Please help share.

where was he found?
"Took him to the woodshed" lmao
It is hard to feel sorry for victims who would hire a guy with that hair.

Former partner indicated there may be other victims: “and/or alleged victims list continues to grow”. This sounds similar to the financial crimes committed by Alex Murdaugh. What kind of oversight and accountability is there to ensure that personal injury attorneys do not keep a bigger piece of the pie (or all of it) than they are entitled to.
It isn't just personal injury attorneys. It is all attorneys who handle any funds belonging to clients that need to be monitored very closely. The Mississippi Bar is supposed to provide monitoring and hold attorneys accountable, but it doesn't. In fact, it does very little for attorneys, and even less for the public. It is a complete waste of an organization.
