Once upon a time, Hollywood produced award-winning "art movies" such as Lust for Life. The Vincent Van Gogh biography was nominated for four Oscars as Anthony Quinn took home the award for Best Supporting Actor. However, it was Kirk Douglas's performance as the tormented artist that deserved an Oscar.
Douglas should have won the award for Best Actor but the Academy instead gave it to Yul Brenner for his role in The King and I. The picture below show the actor's eerie resemblance to Van Gogh. Indeed, an elderly woman freaked out when she saw Douglas walking to the set in character in the town of Arles as she remembered the famed artist when she was a child.
The movie is posted below although Youtube saw fit to slap it with an age-restricted label. The tech gods are fickle indeed.
