Topgolf Coming to Ridgeland

 Topgolf issued the following statement.

Topgolf Entertainment Group, a global sports and golf entertainment company, has set plans in motion to introduce its technology-enabled golf entertainment experience to Jackson, Mississippi, in what will be the state's first Topgolf venue.

Located off Interstate 55 in Ridgeland, northeast of the Renaissance at Colony Park, Players at the future Topgolf venue will soon be invited to enjoy the brand's signature experience where they can play in point-scoring golf games in an energetic and fun environment.

"We are thrilled to be joining the Greater Jackson community and look forward to welcoming those in and around the capital city," said Topgolf Chief Development Officer Chris Callaway. "As a company focused on enabling more people to play the game of golf, we feel the Jackson area is a perfect place to kick off our growth within the region."

The two-level Topgolf venue will feature 60 climate-controlled outdoor hitting bays, chef-driven menu items, top-shelf drinks, music and year-round programming. The Topgolf venue will be fully equipped with Topgolf's proprietary Toptracer technology to accurately trace the flight path of golf balls. Toptracer technology, which offers an interactive experience and includes fan-favorite Topgolf games such as Angry Birds and Jewel Jam, is the most trusted ball-tracing technology used in the golf industry and is the same technology seen on TV while watching major golf tournaments.

Beyond entertainment, Topgolf's Jackson venue will employ approximately 200 Playmakers – aka Topgolf Associates – further strengthening the region's economy.

Follow @Topgolf on social media for updates on Topgolf's progress in Jackson.

Right or left side of 55?

Don't see how in the world the area is going to support two of these venues literally within a few miles of each other.

Whoo who 100 part time jobs, now that economic development !

Anonymous said...

When it folds in 5 years they will seek to Re zone it for apartments

Anonymous said...

@11:03--it can be both-

Anonymous said...

Wow!

The new Golf World and The Park....

Anonymous said...

More PPP money sloshing around the economy...

Love this. The competition between the two virtually identical facilities should bring out the best in both of them.

I want everyone to save that YouTube link and set a reminder for five years from today to re-watch. Then KF can post a new thread to compare and discuss the authenticity of that promotional video.

11:03 - what direction are you driving? Try using East or West. That might help.

11:09 agreed and who owns the TopGolf franchise that’s coming here. The one in Austin cost $15 million. That’s a very risky amount to invest in this area.

Anonymous said...

Sounds like a Top Golf mini. The one in Baton Rouge holds far more.

Anonymous said...

That’s a great addition to greater Jackson area. I’ve been fortunate to pass on hundreds of donated golf clubs, balls and bags to Jackson Public Schools Athletic Department to support golfing.

Anonymous said...

Two venues? Not sure who the second is but they better pull the plug. Top golf is the real deal. Can’t wait.

Too expensive for broke Mississippi. If it ever opens, it won't last.

Cue all the jealous Jacksonites who don’t have running water!

Anonymous said...

Great,
Just what we need more NE Jackson stuck ups in this area. Stay in your own River hills country club 30-A area
Leave us alone out here.

Anonymous said...

Where is the other one located near this one, and is this Callaway kin to the deceased golfer Charlie Callaway?

Anonymous said...

"climate-controlled outdoor" hitting bays. That is an oxymoron.

Anonymous said...

11:09, I agree. Golf Suites in Madison will make it, as Top Golf in Ridgeland is too close to all the "drama" in/from Jackson.

Anonymous said...

Hell yes!!!!!

Love some top golf.

Anonymous said...

one of them will fail. but hey-if its near renaissance, the gatherings at walk-ons can just go right up the street and hit a few balls before the night is through!

Anonymous said...

Happy to see more innovative entertainment for the tri county area. Wishing it the best.

Anonymous said...

I'm booking NOW. I went to one in New York City on the Hudson River. Loved it. KF, do you want me to sign you up?

Anonymous said...

So 2 driving range companies within 5 miles of each other?

Anonymous said...

They will need a gun tower or two to repel the Jackistan gangsters who will inevitably show up, right?

Anonymous said...

11:20 This development with Top Golf has been in the works for well over 5 years.

Anonymous said...

So will golfsuites and top golf be across from each other? Ha one will not make it. Seems a bit of poor planning.

Anonymous said...

Sounds like a lotta sour grapes from voters who actually thought 'Freeing the Land' would result in more business development.

It makes me sad that Jackson has willingly removed itself from all viable economic progress.

Oh well.

Golf Suites is DOA. Pull the plug unless you are spending Covid money. Top Golf is proven and is awesome. And they won’t have to invest in brick columns. I was at Top Golf Saturday in Dallas. Love it. Madison is soon to have a giant eye sore of the magnitude of New Orleans Six Flags. Kill it now.

This is a good thing, and TopGolf has the brand recognition. These are great venues for business - team building, customer entertainment, employee incentives, etc. Can be pricey, so having 2 could help keep the lid on with competitive rates and off-peak specials, etc. The Ridgeland and Madison LEOs will need to help keep it safe.

Anonymous said...

Interested in a reasoned explanation of where these two facilities will be. For instance, if driving North on I-55, will they be on the left (West) side or the right (East) side? The Renaissance is on the West side of I-55 and this says North East of the Renaissance. So does that mean on the right side of I-55?

Anonymous said...

Topgolf (Ridgeland) VS. GolfSuites (Madison) should be interesting. We go from none in Mississippi to two right near each other.

Anonymous said...

Ive been to both of them in various cities. There are only four GolfSuites (2 are being built) but they have a great facility and I thought the food was better. TopGolf has the name recognition though. Like others, I don't see how the area will support both. Nashville, Birmingham, etc. only have one.

My guess is that the first one that gets dirt moving wins and the other ones pulls out.

Anonymous said...

Truly doubt they both get built. Not if private money involved.

Anonymous said...

Probably not going to help the apartments nearby got shot down. Don't see this happening anytime soon given the economic climate.

Anonymous said...

Golf Suites is just a knock off and has repeatedly tried to raise funds from small individual investors (just Google it). Top Golf is owned by Callaway Golf and two top tier private equity firms. Who you betting on?

Anonymous said...

2:27, they will both be east of I-55. TopGolf across Colony Park Blvd from Ridgeland High School, and GolfSuites on Galleria Parkway north of 463.

Anonymous said...

Are you telling me that TopGolf denied Lumumba's bid to place TopGolf next to the Zoo?

Anonymous said...

I think both can survive. I mean there are 34 c-stores between the two locations.

Anonymous said...

Some of you are the most negative people. You can't be happy about anything. TopGolf will benefit the entire Metro. We need as many entertainment venues as possible in this market.

Jackson My Northeast Ass said...

Imagine a crossroads and quadrants. Northeast defines the section north and east of 55, which would be east of the interstate and north of Renaissance.

Why the hell was this article approved mentioning Jackson three times? That's embarrassing.

Earlier today I read an article about the Mississippi Braves being located in a Jackson suburb. That was equally as embarrassing.

60 hitting bays! Wow! More mini rental apartments for Ridgeland.

map maker said...

I give it 2 -3 years max. Someone got conned. Real investors would never locate in this area.

County Cletus said...

Enjoy the first month then POW….

(1) some of you will complain about literally every single thing posted on this site.

(2) most of you never waste an opportunity to disparage Jackson in some way, even though it is the population center and absolute anchor for this part of the state (#obsessed)

(3) most of you have no clue how investing, development, or any of this work. Go back to your grass cutting job.

Anonymous said...

TopGolf? It’s coming to Jackson? But it’s going to be in Ridgeland?

Anonymous said...

They both tried to go into New Orleans, something happened and neither project got off the ground.

Anonymous said...

These comments are so salty.

July 20, 2022 at 5:49 PM & 9:41 PM

This is not a news article. It is a press release by TopGolf, whose HQ is in Texas. Most outsiders have at best, only a vague knowledge of Jackson, so you have to assume the metro or tri-county area in the reference. And, for many outsiders, it's Jackson - the capitol of the land mass between Alabama and Louisiana.

Anonymous said...

7:45 gets angry at mean Jackson comments, when people are openly opining how they wish Jackson was still in the running for such because nobody in the burbs really wants y'all to be the failures that you are.

Yet 7:45 will be the first comment on any Madison/Rankin drama to make fun of them and attempt to compare that to the blight in Jackson.

Anonymous said...

5:49 and 9:41...only people in Madison and Ridgeland thinks the rest of the world knows the difference between their burbs and Jackson. To the rest of the world, its Jackson. I know that kills you, but you live in the Jackson area.

Anonymous said...

@12:03

That is today’s society in America. Only a millennial would write those words

Anonymous said...

8:15 the rest of the world doesn’t even know or care that Jackson or the outskirts even exists. It’s a very small part of this “Land Mass”. Jackson ain’t even a major U.S. city and never will be.

Anonymous said...

8:49 is right. Except that elementary kids have to memorize the state capitols.

Anonymous said...

one will make it and thrive. one will be a vacant eyesore. the metro can absolutely support one of these. and does it really matter that it’s smaller than baton rouge? nope.

Flowood strikes out again.

Is the non-Top-Golf-branded thing going to be in Madison-the-City or in Gluckstadt? Please clarify.

Anonymous said...

6:09. Can you read?

Anonymous said...

7:34, apparently not. Where is the Non-Top Golf place going?

Anonymous said...

Merriam-Webster Definition of suburb
1a : an outlying part of a city or town
b : a smaller community adjacent to or within commuting distance of a city
c suburbs plural : the residential area on the outskirts of a city or large town
2 suburbs plural : the near vicinity : ENVIRONS

Hate to tell all of you Madison and Rankin posters but you live in the Suburbs of Jackson. No two ways around it! No matter what Mother Mary tells you, Madison is a small town. So is Pearl and Brandon. Gluckstadt? Don't even go there.

Anonymous said...

Surprised this post is still going, but once the Madison vs everybody thing starts, nobody wants to surrender the last word. Anyway, just look at Google images of the Baton Rouge Top Golf and the Baton Rouge Golf Suites and you decide who the favorite is in this one.

Anonymous said...

I think ol' @1:54 has got a point there. Match to TopGolf.

Anonymous said...

Nice try 1:54. That Google Earth image is 18 months old. Golf Suites just opened last month at that location. Do a little more digging and photo interpretation next time. Thanks for playing.

You guys are so funny. Madison, Rankin, and Hinds trashing each other is so lame. We are the only people who thinks we are better than each other. The rest of the country thinks Mississippi as a whole is a dump. And instead of us trying to improve the state and get off every shit-list known to man, we are busy holding ourselves down. Quoted from Michael Jackson, we all need to "look at the man in the mirror" and change our ways.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.

Kamikaze will perform his new song F*** Bush, he's still a _____. Did I mention there was no referee? Dr. Heddy Matthias and Lori Gregory will face off in the undercard dueling with dangling participles and other um, devices. Robbie Bell will perform Her two latest songs: My Best Friends are in the Media and Mama's, Don't Let Your Babies Grow up to be George Bell. Sid Salter of The Clarion-Ledger will host "Pin the Tail on the Trial Lawyer", sponsored by State Farm.
