"You Don't Go Do It in Madison"

Street racing continues to get out of control in Jackson.  Two vehicles struck each other as they raced down North State Street Sunday.  Unfortunately, the two idiots didn't just wipe each other out but also struck another car that had a woman and her child.  WLBT reported:

Sunday was supposed to be a night of family fun for Kansas Smith and her daughter.

After making a stop at her mother’s house, Smith was planning to take her eight-year-old out for pizza, followed by a trip to the trampoline park to burn it off.

Instead, the two spend much of the evening at the hospital, where they were treated for minor injuries after being hit head-on by who she said was a street racer.

“Accidents happen, (but this) was not some regular accident,” Smith said. “They were speeding. They were racing. And my child was in the car.”

Smith was heading north on North State Street when she noticed two vehicles heading toward her. She said those vehicles, a Dodge Durango and a Ford Mustang, were racing each other side by side and the Mustang was in her lane.

Those imbeciles almost swiped me racing on Northside just West of I-55 on Northside at about 930pm Sunday night. We had our windows down and surprise, surprise a strong smell of marijuana smoke was coming from the souped up Honda. I can't wait to move from this damn poorly run City. I swear a group of 5th graders could do a better job.

JPD doesn't care, Mayor doesn't care, City Council doesn't care....until someone is killed this will continue.

Why does every illegal stracing event involve a douchebag in a mustang?

@ 1:50 mark in video Kansas Smith succinctly defines the Lumumba incompetency.

Things are only getting worse on Jackson's streets. It has become apparent to young people who seek to live the thug life that Jackson is lax on traffic offenses like everything else. They also have cell phones and knowledge of the police whereabouts before they decide to take over a city street. These young people have no respect or regard for other people's lives or their property and the city administration does not take the matter seriously, so drive Jackson's streets at your own risk.

KF - spend some time in the downtown business district on a Sunday afternoon. Corvettes, Mustangs, Chargers, etc. all over the place racing loud engines, speeding, and running red-lights on occasion (all within blocks of JPD headquarters). There are at least three "clubs" open on Sunday afternoon: two on Capital street and one on Pearl street. Cars are parked in the middle of the street, on sidewalks, etc. It is a carnival atmosphere with racing cars.

I would say no more than 30% of Jackson residents that own a car have insurance. You should have to show proof of insurance to get a license and a tag.

@2:00 a Mustang with a V6 at that...

I was sitting at a stop light on State Street the other day. my light turned green. as I pulled out, two racers ran the red. never touched their brakes. its bad.

This young woman is the face of the citizens of Jackson that have been betrayed by Lumumba's "Big Payback" radicalization of the city. She's lucky she wasn't injured severely, but if JPD was allowed to do their job she wouldn't be out of work.

Lumumba is bending over backward to keep the Murder Bar in business, but this young woman can go jump in the lake as far as he's concerned.

Hey people need their recreation and besides JPD say they’ve got it under control. I always thought that driving without insurance was against the law. But I guess if you’re bringing your drag car to the street there’s no need. One things for sure Chokwheat will have to crack down on lawbreakers. I’m sure like the JPD he’s on it and will decree racism as the cause. You know anyone with half a brain, some cash and a bit of land could do a fine business by opening a drag strip where these youngsters could blow off steam legally.

Interesting that these nice cars have owners with no liability insurance.

I propose a city ordinance that in order to have a loud, souped-up car or a loud stereo, you have to build it yourself. That will probably cut down on a lot of the bullshit.

I take some solace in the knowledge that the GM 3.6L that's in a lot of Camaros can burn a quart of oil in less that 1,500 miles, due to the PCV system. So at some point I expect there will be a lot of them with blown engines due to broken timing chains from premature wear, or just running out of oil.

fed up in Jackson said...

if I was her, I would sue the shit out of Jackson, and personally same the mayor and the chief......concerning that in downtown Jackson, to this day, I do not understand what the fire marshal is doing.....no way a fire engine could make it down Capital Street.......and all this legislation for patrolling I-55 in Jackson by multiple agencies......whatever, the reckless driving has gotten worse

Anonymous said...

Come on folks, they were late for church.

Anonymous said...

People have died because of this street racing. Maybe not directly from a car wreck, but indirectly from the shootings that follow based on bad beats, smack talk and money being wagered.

Unfortunate situation for her. She has the worst luck, she was also shot at the M Bar about 15 months ago. That shooting was kept very quiet.

Stop it WLBT and Kingfish! Y'all are just trying to make me thankful for the pothole infested ROUGH roads I travel on to reach my home, grocery store and work.

All the PD is doing writing citations is issuing blue toilet paper. They need to be arresting these idiots and towing their ride for Reckless driving, speeding, DUI other substance or alcohol etc. No DL and No Insurance is also most likely an issue, but writing a ticket and letting them drive away (Laughing their assess off) is useless.

That young lady is sharp; no excuses, no BS - so if someone reading this knows her please tell her we would love to have her as a neighbor living with us in Madison!

Perception of competent city government

Anonymous said...

3:08 You obviously haven't had much contact with these young "adults". They are not looking for some secluded private dragstrip. They want to do their thing in public, so that they can be seen and heard and even felt. The street is their playground, schoolhouse, clubhouse, and forum. In any event if they did go to some private spot it would fast become a killing field and gunsmoke would fill the air more than exhaust fumes.

Anonymous said...

May I suggest that this lady run for mayor?

Anonymous said...

So, what exactly is JPD supposed to do exactly? They can't chase misdemeanor violators. If the violator doesn't run, they can write them a ticket, but can't arrest them because there's no room in the jail. If they don't have to pay the ticket and they can't have their DL suspended for failure to pay fines. You also can't arrest them for failure to pay. Thanks ACLU.

The M Bar. Isn't that the Mayors after hours office. That's where the real work of Governing takes place.

Jackson voters problems

2:14 - I'm sure it was that so-called "medical grade marijana" that you smelled, although I am not sure how one is supposed to tell the difference. But get ready, more is to come to a neighborhood near you. Soon.

Anonymous said...

Glad to know that JPD is assessing the situation and working on it. Recon they might have a proposal to show the city council (in executive session, of course) before the next group is up for reelection in 2025?

Kingfish said...

Write them tickets and then impound their cars. Those impound fees add up quick.

Reckless driving is a felony, right?

The gated Madison kids do their racing out in the boonies in Madison, Yahoo, and Holmes counties.

The gated Madison kids do their racing out in the boonies in Madison, Yahoo, and Holmes counties.

Since you know, where specifically? Name the roads.

Anonymous said...

6:16, I don't think you realize how very few "gated Madison kids" do any "racing". Yes, there are a few affluent White Trash families whose kids haven't gotten the memo that "racing" is for the cognitively sub-par. But Madison kids are no more likely to "race", than their parents are to watch NASCAR. (Madison people MAKE FUN OF people who watch NASCAR)

There are idiots who try to race cars and sport bikes on I-20 and S.Pearson Road in Pearl. Pearl PD handles them quickly.
It’s really nice to live a city with competent leadership. It’s good for business and good for our property values.

They were just trying to get to the crayfish boil at the fairground. Shooootz they just being profiled

Anonymous said...

Do like some city's if caught racing they seize car and crush it

Anonymous said...

Wait, did you hear? They bought fifteen more radar guns. That’s really going to make a huge difference in stopping these things from actually happening.

Broken windows.

Old Canton Road in Jackson and Lake Harbor in Ridgeland are just as bad.

I drive an old Volvo with a stick shift. I got a speeding ticket on High Street shortly after proceeding from a stop light. I fought it all the way to the city judge where I showed that my old clunker couldn't accelerate to that speed in such a short distance. The policewoman showed up and took the witness stand against me. I asked her how many tickets she averages a day. Based on the current speeding ticket fine she agreed that she generates over $250,000 annually to the coffers of Jackson. The judge agreed that I made great points but added it was my word against hers and he would side with the officer. I'll add that the judge seemed to be a nice guy and he did let me make all my points.

So this JPD officer scams innocent people a quarter million dollars annually yet these thugs race cars and endanger people without concern. Par for the course for Lumumba's "most radical city on the planet."

Voters get the government they deserve.

Jackson residents voted for this.

Choke on it.

Anonymous said...

Are you seeing the police presence on Ridgewood Rd. Giving out at least 20 tickets per hour for 5-10 mph over the speed limit, and it's the right area of town where they know they'll get paid. No need to target those going 100mph in 45 mph zone. Too much work and city knows they can't collect those fines.

Anonymous said...

Re: 9:51’s Jackson Police Department’s Ticket scamming –

When paying a ticket in Jack/Scam town - be sure to make them give you a receipt for payment in full - and store it for a later date.

In addition to adding “no insurance” to your moving traffic violation ticket - without telling you - and after you have provided them with proof of insurance -

The clerk that take your money will call you back and say the ticket remains unpaid - i.e. come pay it again.

Anonymous said...

Broken windows theory in full display in Jackson.

Anonymous said...

8:10 am

I'm on Ridgewood Rd every day and many evenings.

I'm not seeing police ticketing.

So what time are you on it?

I suspect you just like to make up things or else or having hallucinations.

Anonymous said...

They (racers) should be ticketed, arrested (if outstanding warrants, which is likely), and fined. In lieu of monetary fines, a court ordered and law enforced supervised sentence of picking up liter in the city of Jackson (which is horrible); and in the south Ridgeland area, where the problem of liter is increasing. While the racers may like to showboat their dragracing escapades on social media, I assure you they will not want to be focused on a police website picking up trash

Kingfish said...

Around Newland. Been there a bit recently.

Anonymous said...

Exactly right KF, taking the vehicles is the best way to stop this. In Gulfport (back in '08-'09) if you were stopped and had no insurance and no valid license your car was probably getting towed, because it wasn't legal for you to drive it from wherever you were stopped. These racers aren't coming to court or paying fines, but take their ride and they'll get the point.

Anonymous said...

So we’re either of the criminals arrested or detained? Didn’t say in the video?

Anonymous said...

Ms. Smith for Mayor.
Mr. Ross for Police Chief.

Tell David Kenny to actually specify the intersection, not just refer to it as "this intersection." The street sign shown in the video was unreadable even when blown up to max size.

I have a student who is among these kids racing. He said Jackson is the only place where the police sit and watch them. He sat all other police officers make them stop.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
