Bill Maher had enough of the pandemic porn and called it out Friday night:
It's about damn time as Mr. Maher said some things that needed to be said. National Review followed up today by pointing out CNN's latest fear-mongering:
A minuscule number of those who are fully vaccinated for COVID-19 — less than 0.008 percent, to be exact — end up subsequently catching the virus.
Rather than placing these “breakthrough cases” in their proper context by noting their proportion relative to the vaccinated population, CNN simply reported the total number of breakthrough cases in a Thursday article, generating more fear and more clicks.
“So Far, 5,800 Fully Vaccinated People Have Caught COVID Anyway in US, CDC Says,” read the Thursday headline. So, what should be good news — 5,800 breakthrough cases out of 77 million vaccinated — becomes yet another reason to stay locked down or keep your kids out of school.
They didn’t include the full context in their headline, that happens. Maybe they got to it in the first couple paragraphs of the story? Nope, first they had to tell readers about those breakthrough cases who ended up in the hospital.
“Some became seriously ill and 74 people died, the CDC said. It said 396 — 7% — of those who got infected after they were vaccinated required hospitalization,” reads the second paragraph.
Readers have to get through the first five paragraphs of the story to be finally told that “the total represents a very small percentage of those who have been vaccinated” and that “breakthrough cases are expected.”
CNN’s fear-stoking strategy, long apparent to anyone who is paying attention, was revealed publicly last week by Project Veritas, which got a technical director to admit on camera that the pandemic has been “gangbusters with ratings.”
“Fear is the thing that really keeps you tuned in,” he said, adding that CNN president Jeff Zucker would call the different CNN shows to tell them to keep the network’s COVID-death tracker on-screen.
CNN is not the only culprit when it comes to pushing COVID panic porn. The wider media has done a less-than-stellar job communicating to the public the rarity of blood clots associated with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, after the rollout of the shots was paused in the U.S. last week due to six reported cases of a “rare & severe type of blood clot in individuals after receiving the vaccine.” However, over 6.8 million doses of the vaccine were administered, with fewer than one in a million people found to have developed a blood clot. It is still unclear if those rare blood clots were directly caused by the vaccine. Rest of article.

Interesting you talk about Fear-mongering when you just posted information with the headline
"Foreigners Busted w/Narcotics in Madison"
When those "Foreigners" were Lousiana residents...
This presents an issue where anti-vaxxers and pro-freedom, pro-vax people can unite. The outrage at having no comparative advantage of being “fully vaccinated” is real. It is no doubt sourced in part by media folk who want us inside 24/7 glued to the tube. We locked down citizens make for great tv audiences.
What Americans have been given since March 2020 is all stick and no carrot. Wear a mask until we flatten the curve, wear a mask because you may be asymptomatic, wear a mask until we get a vaccine, and now it’s “wear a mask until we say so”. I’d be tempted to get a vaccine if it made my life different in anyway whatsoever.
Notice how you don’t hear that cliche “We live in the greatest country in the world!” anymore.
Uh-huh – and Maher is just another click baiter criticizing another click baiter in order to get more clicks -
Since the same can be said of hypocrite Bill Maher with race hustling - and many if not most leftists so-called journalists including those with their articles posted on this site re Emmitt Till, etc.
CNN’s fear-stoking strategy re Covid is just another version of their, and Maher’s, and almost every other leftist so-called journalist’s race hustling divide and conquer strategy designed to get clicks and win elections since accentuating the incredible progresses made are not self-serving.
Why you continue to post shit from Bill Maher is beyond the reasoning scope of an ordinary human mind. Is it that you can't find clips of Rosie O'Donnell or Michael Moore?
"What Americans have been given since March 2020 is all stick and no carrot."
So you need a liberal carrot to get you to do one or two little bitty things to keep yourself and your loved ones alive and well? Moron.
Maher is right on this one, but you also have to take into account American's attitudes. Way too many of them are incapable of thinking critically and instead only make black-and-white decisions. Give them the slightest bit of good news (vaccines greatly reduce the chance of YOU getting sick, but we don't yet know if it stops you from infecting others) and suddenly they think everything is back to normal.
Why can't Americans understand that we need to get to a decent level of individual immunity before they can stop doing things that protect others. They are simply very, very selfish and don't think beyond the end of their own noses.
Once everyone that wants a vaccination can get one then it will be reasonable to say we can't expect the public to continue to look out for those that won't look out for themselves, but until then we need to follow the science which says even vaccinated people can get infected and pass the virus on.
8:35 AM, and pray tell when does it end? Notice any difference in your life post-vaccine?
I try to be reasonable in general and see things from all sides before forming judgements.
I do understand that folks who don't want to wear a mask to protect others in public can be justifiably called selfish.
I also realize that people who are scared of the virus can be labeled the same for expecting healthy people to protect them, instead of them limiting their own exposure through their own decisions.
I cannot decide which group is most deserving of the selfish moniker but I do know that I have never changed my opinion on any subject because a person was yelling and calling me names.
In this country today we are conditioned to think that everybody is either all right or all wrong. You are are a communist radical dope-head or a racist illiterate dope. On every issue we're being divided into camps. But really, there are actually people who are well-informed enough to know that their personal health is vulnerable enough so that a vaccine, as questionable as it might be, is still a good option for them. There are also people who are well-informed enough to know that their personal health is strong enough, according to the information and statistics, to allow them to abstain from an unnecessary vaccine and still have a great prospect for survival. Who is right? They are both right. And if they turn out wrong it's THEIR life.
The main thing is being WELL-INFORMED. That's what matters.
Funny how he railed against mis-information and lying to sensationalize while he lied to sensationalize and spread mis-information. President Trump NEVER made the statement to in-jest bleach and yet there it was in his monologue. This was one of those big-media lies that made it’s way around the world before the truth could get of bed stories similar to how Sarah Palin said she could see Russia from her house. Big-media make up lies. That’s just the way it is. Question everything, if it doesn’t make sense, question it!
lol Bill Maher is a clown and I can’t take clowns seriously.
Folks, This is one of many steps that are being taken to absolve you of your freedoms. This started many years ago with small steps that most did not notice. The "pandemic" that "paused" our god given rights for the last year is a huge step. We will likely not recognize post pandemic life. a good 25% of people will strap the useless masks to their face from now on and hate those that don't. Understand I'm not stupid. Maskes worn correctly might actually help. Cotton masks that are constantly touched, thrown in purses, hung over rear view mirrors and washed only when the stink to bad to wear do absolutely nothing. Common sense Dr's will tell you that a cotton mask is like trowing marbles at a chainlink fence. 98% of the masks being worn are nothing but for looks. at this point 2 groups are wearing them. Those that want to virtue signal and be rule followers and those that are scared t make the first group mad.
And be ready, pandemic number 2 is headed our way. Joe Biden said it the other day. research that. The second one will have much stronger lock-downs and will most certainly destroy the economy. But don't worry the government will be there to help you out. This is a path to communism. I used to say we are headed to socialism but i think we will pass that at 100 MPH. It makes me sick how people are so accepting on having other people tell them what to do and what is safe for them. Live life and thirst for your freedom. A majority of people in the country seem to think that the governments job is to give them their freedoms. God gave us our freedom. We have to stop the government from restricting it. Remember that next time you are told it's for the good of the people. Sheep. I am more scared of living without my liberties than dying from a virus that has a 99.5% survival rate. If more people don't wake up we are done in 5-10 years.
Some of you long winded commenters need to start your own blog.
Also, you geezers do not sound nearly as smart as you must think.
10:12 am
When did either the Constitution or God give you the right to harm others or their property?
You seem to have no sense of the fact that with freedom comes responsibility.
I didn't "give up" my freedom which required to get a polio shot. I helped erase polio in this country for decades. Those with TB were isolated in sanatoriums. We remained a "free" country.
But, then enough of the country understood the word "rational" and seemed to be able to tell a " ration" person from a nut case or "know it all". And, they understood there's a wide margin of choices between panic and sticking your head in the sand.
I am happy to be vaccinated and yes, my life has improved. I can hug my vaccinated friends and children and grandchildren and I can travel some places without concern.
I continue to wear a mask out and about to make sure I don't unknowingly pick up a mild case and pass it to someone like you. I cannot understand why some of you are so whiny and complain. I wear an N95 and it's agreed in my family that is more comfortable and convenient than a bra or necktie.
And, I follow the CDC protocols based on the best available science from actual scientists in the field because it's our best economic solution.
Please study Australia and New Zealand and study what happened economically here in the 1957 pandemic that with a virus that was far less serious.
But, clearly, some of you want to be ostriches or more likely, can't admit to yourself you had the bad judgement to trust and for someone that lied to you. Then you'd have to question your judgment about other things and people.
To all the “Chicken Littles” who mock those that deny masks work, know this...
The city of Tokyo just announced their third Emergency Lockdown. That means that business are shutting back down and the remaining residents of Tokyo (many have fled the city) will not be able to go back to work or leave home for another 3 months.
And you all repeatedly cite Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea as the models of Covid-19 Restrictions Submission. Japan has the vaccine and everyone wears face coverings. It has been good manners for sick people to wear a face covering in Japan for 20 years. They don’t have a problem with face coverings.
They simply don’t work.
Thecca @8:53 , that seems to be a little tongue in cheek comment as the KF routinely makes snide comments about Lousy-Annans, coonasses, and couyons.

Must have stepped on your spotless rule following shoes there. If you are a dude I bet you pee sitting down. Just let them inject you with whatever. I am positive its good stuff. You should not have any issues with it. A vaccine that was produced and distributed in about 1/4 the time of normal vaccines ad the makers were given immunity from lawsuits. Its people like you who accept statement like
"If we do this together, by 4 July, there is a good chance you, your family and friends can get together in your backyard or in your neighborhood and have a cookout or a barbecue and celebrate Independence Day,"
Get ready rule follower you will get some stricter ones soon. But as long as its for the good of the people you will wrap yourself in the rule.
The lock-down has changed fear into a virtue. people like you believe they're better than those who are not fearful and will subconsciously look for ways to multiply fear, because its your virtue.
11:46 Do a little research. The polio vaccine took years to develop. By some accounts 50 years. Some of the early "testing" resulted in children dying. This was rushed through and will most certainly cause issues. The Johnson and Johnson may be the tip of the iceberg. Taking an experimental vaccine into your body for a virus that has a 99.96% survival rate is just plain foolish.
11:46 You had me at "I follow the CDC protocols" Wow. read a little about the CDC, WHO and Fauchi.
@11:48, Polio was real, TB patients were quarantined, not HEALTHY people, nor did we destroy the economy over it at the behest of Klaus Schwab of the World Economic Forum, nor did any billionaire eugenicists invested in the vaccine run pandemic scenarios prior to TB outbreaks.
Side note: you could’ve hugged your loved once’s vaccine or not, if you haven’t gotten COVID by now, you are IMMUNE, like most of the population
It is interesting to watch the liberals starting to push back against government overreach. Fauci may have to answer some real questions before it's over with.
@11:21am Sorry Chuck if you're used to communicating in short texts, acronyms, and emojis - and because reading hurts your head.
