John Morgan Dowdy was once again busted for drugs. Ridgeland police arrested Dowdy Thursday for trafficking, conspiracy, and selling controlled substances.
Byram police arrested Dowdy for trying to obtain drugs with a phony prescription in 2019. Dowdy is the son of former Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics Director John Dowdy.

Appears that Dowdy as director of the Bureau of NARCOtiCS was about as an appropriate choice as that of Ronnie Musgrove when he put Frank Melton in that position.
Stupid is hard to fix. A son of the former heard narc won't do well in prison.
Slow learner.
You don't go to prison for attempting to pass off a fake prescription.
I hope no one takes the completely incompetent legal advice posted as 5:59.
Prohibition Works!

Goodness gracious, and you people liked it. Frank talked loud why shaking a stick at the "thugs" in Jackson.
5:59/7:08, It looks to me like "attempting to pass off a fake prescription" carries 1-3 years in prison, according to Miss. Code Ann. § 41-29-144:
(1) It is unlawful for any person knowingly or intentionally to acquire or obtain possession or attempt to acquire or obtain possession of a controlled substance or a legend drug by larceny, embezzlement, misrepresentation, fraud, forgery, deception or subterfuge.
(2) It is unlawful for any person knowingly or intentionally to possess, sell, deliver, transfer or attempt to possess, sell, deliver or transfer a false, fraudulent or forged prescription of a practitioner.
(3) Any person who violates this section is guilty of a crime and upon conviction shall be confined for not less than one (1) year nor more than five (5) years and fined not more than One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00), or both.
4:58 - First Offense. Jail time suspended. Probation. Place your bets at the window.
PS: A father is not responsible for the transgressions of his adult child. That applies to YOU, ME and Mr. Dowdy.
5:26 What part of "shall be confined for not less than one (1) year" do you not understand? That's a mandatory minimum of one year.
Your original statement was "You don't go to prison for attempting to pass off a fake prescription." Are you now saying that only applies to a first offense? I'm damn sure not betting on your opinion, and anyone else would be foolish to do so, as that would require reliance on a judge not following the law.
12:14 - Notice now this is not his first offense. My bad. He will go to jail. You may not know it, but 'shall be' does not preclude a judge suspending, sentencing to time served, plus...or monkeying around with 'confinement'. Confinement is not defined as 'going to prison'. Bone up, bone-head.
5:03 So, you acknowledge you were mistaken, but end your acknowledgement with a personal insult directed at me. Classy.
