The city of Jackson issued the following statement.
The City of Jackson has officially received clearance to lift the precautionary boil water notice on its 16K well water connections. This primarily impacts residents in South Jackson and the City of Byram.
The precautionary boil water notice for the City’s 43K surface water connections is still in effect. Timing to begin sampling on the surface water system remains to be determined. A setback at the plant on Sunday, March 7th delayed this process and the City is working with the Mississippi State Department of Health to determine when sampling can begin.

It is a great relief to know that our mayor no longer has to flush any of the 5 toilets in his private gated 4300 sq ft Eastmont mansion with a water filled bucket. The hardships he has faced have been staggering. We can only hope that he'll be able to ride out the 100 inches of rain and blistering heat we've still to negotiate during the remainder of 2021.
I told y'all that it would soon be water under the bridge. Mayor Chocolate Lumber has saved the day. Woo hoo.
Great reading comprehension skills for the first two commenters.
It's advisable to boil any water in Jackson on a good day.
But I have friends in Belhaven that actually get violent
should I casually ask if they still plan to remain in Jackson.
They have a lovely old house that was wonderfully renovated, but toting buckets of water up their polished stairs just to flush "raw boo boo" seems to negate the benefits of living close to "The Fondren".
@5:22 PM - "sarcasm" - look it up and then come back and apologize.
10:00 pm Giving the bizarre things people believe these days, especially the Q folks, it's hard to know when someone is being sarcastic.
