It's generally not a good idea to prank an armed robbery for a Youtube video in public. NBC News reported:
A man was shot and killed in the parking lot of a Nashville business Friday night after a robbery "prank" for a YouTube channel went wrong, according to police.
When officers got to Urban Air in the city's Hermitage neighborhood about 9:20 p.m., they learned Timothy Wilks, 20, and a friend approached a group of people, including David Starnes Jr., with butcher knives as part of the prank.
Starnes, 23, told detectives he was unaware of the prank and shot Wilks in self-defense, the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said Saturday in a statement. Article.
Idiot. Such a prank took place in Richland three years ago but thankfully, no one was shot. Richland PD posted on Facebook on January 10, 2018:
On 1-9-18 at 4:20 pm we received a 911 call of a possible car jacking at Walmart, fortunately there was an off duty Police Officer nearby and our other Officers got to scene very quickly. Within a few minutes of talking with all the subjects involved Officers determined the 5 individuals were shooting a video of a fake car jacking to post on YouTube to boost their social media accounts. All 5 individuals where arrested 2 adults and 3 juveniles, they where charged with disturbing the peace. The video is an interview with Chief James and WJTV.
Play stupid games....

More like Idiot of the year.
This is about the colossal pile of crap youtube has become
with some fool brandishing butcher knives in a make believe
robbery and dying for his stupidity.
Sometimes you just have to let nature run its course.
So we are to believe this guy was going to rob someone Then he is going to give the money back. I for one am not buying this for one second.
So now the world has one leas dumbass.
What is that saying, Stupid is as stupid does? Now comes all the attached Civil shit and name calling.
If ever the statement, 'Play stupid games, win stupid prizes', applied to a situation, this is a textbook example. All those close to him, his family, friends, etc, will all wail and cry and moan about what a good guy he was, how he was just having fun. No he wasn't...he was a fool. It's terrible he was killed. And the sad part is, for what? Likes? Upvotes? Go to the linked Youtube channel and see for yourself. All you 'upvoters & likers' to this kind of behavior are nothing but enablers. Bad behavior is bad behavior. To borrow a phrase, 'Well, are you entertained, now?'
I feel so bad for the guy who shot him because his life and his family's has been forever changed. So unnecessary.
I'm actually kind of surprised it took this long for that to happen. There's a lot of 'hood prank' videos on youtube--most of which are white men acting like idiots to black men on the street.
come at someone with a knife-fake or not-self defense. 100%. even if it was an illegal gun with no permit.
I read this on Fox News online and thought, what a bunch of dumba$$es. I am glad you choose to feature this story. Kinda like the idiots who lean to far off the cliff's edge to get their photo shot and end up dying. Wow, who knew social media would end up ruling the lives of our kids.
This is the modern day version of bringing a knife to a gunfight. This guy found out the real world isn't make believe YouTube crap.
It reminds me of those "sovereign citizens" who live streamed themselves walking into a Michigan police station wearing ski masks and tac gear while carrying weapons, including an AR-15. Luckily for them they didn't get killed.
HOLY!...OK, so, all the Jackson homicides are just prank videos gone bad. I'd been wondering about this.
