Hamil's Keeps Hope Alive

 Hamil's is going to open today and tomorrow.  Don't believe me? Maybe these pictures of Mr. Bob clearing the parking lot will change your mind.   The thought of those ribs makes one wanna believe in something.

I applaud him. But it’s hamils.

Not great food or service

Local family owned restaurants and stores have been open. But Mcdonald's, Wally World, and Chick Fil A have not figured out how to use a shovel. Wally World sells shovels, salt, and cat litter but world's biggest monopoly can't figure it out. Pathetic corporations.

Every 300lb Bubba with a 4WD pick-em-up will be headed there, with 275lb Tammy Sue riding shotgun, for three Heapin' Helpins of deep fried everything.

Nice looking tractor. Wonder where his and others like that were over the last few days. Maybe cities need to dust the snow off of theirs and get them out doing the same, but then again, they'd tear up the shitty streets we have around here.

@9:08

Blasphemy! May mama Hammil have mercy on your soul.

@9:08,

Mama (not Hamil) always said "If you can't say something nice the keep your mouth shut."

Mama's been gone a long time but I'm sure she would tell you the same thing.

Lol what a troll at 9:08. Food and service are excellent

Anonymous said...

That is one steep hill!

Anonymous said...

@9:08, you won't be missed.

We've had Mama Hamil's cater company lunches several times. They don't miss a beat feeding 400 people in 60 minutes, with fresh and tasty offerings. Family-owned, local restaurants really need our support.

Long way to drive for ok food. Choice of 3 sides aint much when you can only choose from four. Believe I'll stay in Jackson, plenty of good restaurants here with as good or better food.

Lots of ribbing going on here. Corny?

Anonymous said...

Attn 9:08. Since you are an expert, share your favorite dining establishments with the common people, knowing we problem can’t afford to eat there..

Come on y'all, it's just an opinion. I agree with 9:08 - it's much overrated.

Went to high school with the Hamil boys and Bob’s wife. Good family who always supported public education and the Madison community - back before it was a trendy suburb. Family is same now as they were decades ago (except they no longer grow crops along that stretch of Hwy 51). Let’s applaud efforts to survive Covid and now nature, not trash them.

I tried to post but believe I deleted the whole thing. Trying again. I am an “uppity lawyer” who loves fancy food from time to
time. And, I’ll be the first to say Hamils is great. Have eaten there for years. If you need to hate, just go elsewhere. They have been long standing taxpayers of the Madison area. Their chicken livers and gizzards and meatloaf are second to none. And local businesses need help now more than ever. No one going there thinks this is vegan food, although you are right that certain patrons might do good
to try a salad once in a while. But I would rather them patronize Hamils than McDonald’s. If I ate there every day I would easily get “too big fer my britches” but it’s still a great clean locally owned buffet. Why can’t you trolls be nice sometimes. I have used them for work catering events and always been pleased. Have a nice day.

with all the 908 badgers, y’all are doing “cancel culture” when someone disagrees. bunch of snowflakes

Mama Hamil's - keeping endocrinologists employed for decades.

I love hamil's Good food and all but I have to say you would think for the price they charge he would be driving a John Deere and not a crappy Kubota knock-off Branson tractor. :)

Let me guess. 9:08 is constipated after his soy boy diet backed up on him. He set out for some Whole Foods arugula to fix it, in his Prius, but slid off the road.

He declined a tow from an ICU male nurse in a pick em up truck, and was late for his math racism activism meeting.

His only hope is that an Amazon drone will soon deliver a new pair of recycled skinny jeans to his tiny house, powered by diversity. You can find it under the rainbow farted out by AOC and her unicorn flying over on the way to the Socialist utopia.

The smell of solar powered air fried synthetic steak approved by Bill Gates will be thick around the not so happy little camper.

I like Mama Hamil’s. I also like Berry’s down in Florence. But what the Metro needs is a good Korean restaurant. Preferably serving North Korean cuisine. All jokes aside, even the southern Koreans will seek out North Korean cuisine.

@4:35 PM,

You get the Grand Prize for Friday, February 21, 2021. I just hope you have or will go and get some Mega Millions tickets. You are sure to be the winner!

4:35...dang fella, you sound like me on the Fox News comment section at the bottom of each news story! You nailed it ON THE HEAD!!!!

I'm going to wobble my 300 pound fat --- up there this week to get me some greens, and smoked chicken. I don't have me one of them nice "Pick me Up Trucks." I drive a old beat up Pontiac.

I've had lunch at Hamil's many times over the years.
I've never understood the hype. (especially about their ribs)

The old Pyramid BBQ in Jackson had the best ribs in the South.

Can't move three inches of ice with a box blade. But nice photo op. Get a Mahindra.

@1219. This is 908.

Where would I go? Not to a place where the menu hasn’t changed in 20 years when they were in the log cabin at the top of the hill.

I’d go to Trace Grill - the ribs are better, primos - their food and menu are better. If I were brave, I’d drive (not in my soy filled Prius) to Fannin Mart.

Hamils- greasy fried chicken and sides.

12:44pm - supported public education but sent kids to private school....?

8:06 - I was behind you on State Street just the other day. Now I know why that old Pawntiac leans to the left. I thought it was a wore down shock.

Don't think anyone here says or thinks Hamil's not a great Madisonian... he, and they, are.

Proud he exhibits his support for our great city. Of course, he loves to host political stuff like "grips n grins", and Mary, but that in itself doesn't put their establishment on top of their market.

They are a good "choice" of many restaurants here in the area.

Thanks Bob.

There is actually only ONE main attraction to Hamils, and, that, due to our over-indulgence, slopping like pigs eating habits, is the unlimited amount of food you can pile on those little plates. Plus you can waddle back to the buffet often.

I watched one woman open her purse, pull out a plastic container and fill it with fried chicken livers. Yep, the Hinds County license plates have discovered the place.

I guess folks want to argue about something. Politics ain't enough - let's argue about food. Good Lord.

That being said, I have to agree Mama Hamil's isn't everything folks say it is. I have a wonderful wife who learned how to cook well, and I judge all other food against that very high standard. I also grew up eating "dinner on the grounds" after church on Sundays cooked by old-fashioned Southern ladies, many who are long gone now. I suspect many folks have either forgotten what really good Southern food is supposed to taste like due to eating too much processed food, fast food, etc., or they just have never eaten as good home-cooked food as I have.

All that being said, I'm glad the Hamil family has done well and that folks like their food. Beats the hell out of Picadilly anyway.

Anonymous said...

6:20 - At Picadilly, you point to what you want and an employee spoons it onto your platter. No seconds. No double helpings. What you liked about church 'dinner on the grounds' is the fact that you always brought paper plates to the gathering but loaded a plastic tray high with seven courses and six deviled eggs while chatting with your mouth full. No wonder you wore ties covered in mustard and sat on the back pew.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.

Sonjay Poontang and his band headline the night with a special steel cage, no time limit "loser must leave town" bout between Alan Lange and "Big Cat"Donna Ladd following afterwards. Kamikaze will perform his new song F*** Bush, he's still a _____. Did I mention there was no referee? Dr. Heddy Matthias and Lori Gregory will face off in the undercard dueling with dangling participles and other um, devices. Robbie Bell will perform Her two latest songs: My Best Friends are in the Media and Mama's, Don't Let Your Babies Grow up to be George Bell.
