Where Does She Live?

Ward 2 City Council Candidate Angelique Lee tried to dispel questions over her voting record and residency on JSU-TV Sunday.  Ms. Lee won the special election primary and faces former Hinds County Sheriff Tyrone Lewis in a runoff election on December 8.

Ms. Lee voted in Ridgeland as recently as March.  She voted in Hinds County in the November election.

Madison County voting records show that Ms. Lee voted in several Madison County elections:

March 10, 2020: Democratic Presidential Primary

November 5, 2019: General Election

August 6, 2019: Democratic Primary Election

November 27, 2018: Runoff Election

November 6, 2018: General Election

However, she did vote in Hinds County prior to the 2018 general election:

August 7, 2018: City of Jackson school bond issue

November 7, 2017: Hinds County Prosecuting Attorney

May 2, 2017: City of Jackson Democratic Primary

November 6, 2012: General Election

November 2, 2010: General Election

Ms. Lee registered to vote in Hinds County on October 19, 2020, 17 days after Mr. Priester announced his resignation.

The primary winner said in the interview (posted below) she was living at her childhood home. She accused the media of making her a stranger in the home where she lived.  Um, that's not true Ms. Lee.  The media is questioning where Ms. Lee lives because she is voting repeatedly in another county while claiming to live in another one.  Period. Ms. Lee continued to defend herself: "This is where I lay my head, this is where I raise my children."

Well, she also raised her children in Ridgeland because she was named the 2015 Parent of the Year at Anne Smith Elementary School in Ridgeland - while voting in Hinds County. Check out page 22 of the March-May 2015 edition of Ridgeland Life magazine.

Where was Ms. Lee voting in 2015? Hinds County.  She voted in Hinds County from 2010 to 2018 while she was making Mom of the Year in Ridgeland schools.

Kingfish note: The interview raises another question. Is Ms. Lee living with her parents? Does this mean she does not live on her own?  The Woodhaven home is more than large enough to house two families but this means Ms. Lee would be the only City Council member who does not live on her own.

By the way, did anyone notice the dig she took at Bennie?

So where is she paying taxes? Hinds or Madison? What does he drivers license say? This seems like it shouldn’t be that hard to determine.

Watch her body language. She is posing like this is a damn beauty contest, and is running for one reason.....self promotion. She wants to be "noticed".

Baby, don't worry a bit about where you live. It has been proven that is not important anymore.

eh. county commissioner anyone?

What difference does it make where she lives? She can inadequately represent that district just as good as Tyrone "party time at the training academy" can.

Did she move into a David Archie property ?

If so . . . did she keep the grass cut ?

Kf, she did not "win" the primary election. If she had, there would be no runoff election. While she might prefer your terms it would confer the word winner on her, the proper terminology is that she "led in the first primary election and will proceed to a runoff".

Cut and dry. She may be hot, but she is also a liar.

So Archie living NOT in his supervisor district is no big deal, but this woman and a stupid city council position is newsworthy? By the way, one Neighborhood south contains the nightly residence of the esteemed Ed and Barbara Blackmon who sleep in Jackson but represent where, Madison, Leake, Holmes (honestly don’t know where they represent, but its not Jackson)?

Mississippi has long had loosely goosey residency rules for running for office. Will the Supreme Court address? The Legislature? Probably not, and so the gotcha residency news will continue.

Time for some Kingfish Nog!

Can someone explain why both Willie Simmons (page 3) and Jennifer Riley Collins (page 4) would send money they owed Angelique for campaign work to a residential address in Ridgeland if she has been truly living in Jackson all along?

Why do I give a damn what’s happening in Ridgeland?

Jackson, ride or die!

The answer is simple: where does she stays?

Anybody but Tyrone, who cares where she lives

3:35 -- neither of those 'facts' matter. Neither determines residency, particularly voting residency.

One could own property in multiple counties and therefore paying taxes in multiple of counties. One could also have lived in Olive Branch, MS three years ago and renewed their drivers license at the time. Two years later, moved to Gulfport and was now a resident of Harrison County, but since the drivers license is good for four years there is no election requirement that they change the license address.

The test for residency is "Where does the voter lay their head down at night", or put another way as our former SOS Hosemann used to say, "where does one feed their dog". Either determines residency for voting purposes.

It is possible for someone to have dual residencies, but if that's the case (they live in Madison County where they own a townhouse three days a week due to work) but live in Alcorn County three days a week were they own a single family house and spend most weekends) and the seventh day they could be at either, or neither, place. In that factual situation, they could claim either one or the other county for their voting residence, based on the above definition.

But to Ms Lee's situation, it appears that she has a much deeper prolem than whether she meets the residency requirement to run for this office. She has admitted to election fraud by stating that she has lived in Jackson for two years, while the records show that she voted in Madison County during that period. Same may be true for the period while her children attended Ridgeland schools and she was 'claiming' a Jackson residency by voting in Hinds County.

Watching this I wondered why doesn't she simply shut up? The more she speaks, the more incriminating she sounds.

Democrats have a different set of laws than the regular person has.....prove me wrong

Anonymous said...

Obvious she was gaming Madison County schools for her child(ren).

Anonymous said...

Who cares. Voters should know their candidates well enough to decide if they want that person to represent them. If she is what Jackson wants and she makes a decent case that she lives there a few nights a year, not my circus.

4:13 - What's a 'county commissioner'? Check your residence - are you living in Chicago?

Anonymous said...

Obvious to me she only wanted to get her children out of Jackson Public Schools.

Anonymous said...

MS. Lee has a problem. It is called Jackson Public Schools. She is a parent and she wants to represent a Jackson ward without sacrificing her children. Unless she owns a vacant house in Jackson, or private school money, she has a problem. It is not uncommon. Bite the bullet, move on.

I want to be the next mayor of Starkville. Since residency rules don't matter do y'all think I can run next year while still living in Flowood? It's only a short drive up 25 to get to work. I could always just say I'll stay at my mom's house in Starkville during the week if elected.

2020 - The year everyone should have woken up and realized that the voting system needs better security.

I hope she is not paying for legal advice. If so, she might want a refund. Her original intent was obviously to save her children from JPS which she was doing successfully. She now faces the distinct possibility of losing everything. Oh well, there's always St. Joe or St. Andrews.

Anonymous said...

Could her daughter not get into Obama/Davis Magnet? Apparently, that is one of the best, if not the best elementary schools in the state. That would have solved her JPS issue.

"Obvious she was gaming Madison County schools for her child(ren)." See this all the time in the car rider line at RHS and also in the others schools when there to pick up my remaining public school kids. If the parents don't want their kids going to JPS or CPSD I can understand that. What we need to do is find a way to charge some sort of fee or collect that from the other area taxes to pay for the child attending an out of area school.

Me thinks that Ms. Lee and Senator David Blount have a lot in common. JPS for thee but not for me and mine.

Anonymous said...

Why is she even worried about where her kid goes to school. If the picture is accurate, she could have some sugar daddy take care of her and the kid could be going private.

Works for the Mayor of Edwards, Marcus Wallace, who lives full time in Madison's Calumet neighborhood.

She may be black, but she ain't Jackson black. She seems to have more in common with the black girl in Clueless than anyone in MS. Like Melvin, she won't last in a city that prefers Stokes type leadership over 'privileged' blacks.

And yes where her children go to school matters. Just like the new DA, and Blount and all her hypocritical Dem. friends on Facebook, it matters. Like the shell game, she is doing for her residency. She will be just like the other Dem's who will tell you to stay home, then dine in the glow of Jeff Good's Bravo's.

Assuming she wins, I will be cleaning myself up from this covid lockdown and volunteering my services to her...

In a time long, long, ago. In a land that seems far, far, away we advertised ourselves as a nation of laws. Ain't that a hoot?

Anonymous said...

3:13 we are still a nation of laws, but "some people" are allowed to ignore them with impunity.

Well then, looks like we need some enforcers for those laws.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
