Ronnie McGehee Named to Board of Education

Leftenent Governor Delbert Hosemann issued the following statement.

A former educator with more than 40 years’ experience in Mississippi schools has been selected as Lieutenant Governor Delbert Hosemann’s appointee to the State Board of Education.

Dr. Ronnie L. McGehee of Madison has been selected to serve an eight-year term ending in July 2028, pending confirmation by the Mississippi Senate.

The Mississippi State Board of Education includes nine members from across the State, with two appointed at-large by the Lieutenant Governor.  The Board oversees the State Department of Education, working with the State Superintendent of Education to establish statewide education policy ranging from curriculum to accountability.

“The key to our State’s future success is ensuring all of our children have access to a high-quality education,” Lieutenant Governor Delbert Hosemann said. “Dr. McGehee will do an excellent job in this position because he has vast experience in the field, he has the trust of our public educators across the State, and he has the heart to do the hard things we have to do to help our students and schools achieve.”

McGehee is the current Executive Director of the Mississippi Association of School Administrators and Mississippi Association of Secondary School Principals.  He previously served as Madison County Schools Superintendent, leading the district to achieve and maintain an “A” rating, and upgrading technology and Internet access in schools.  Prior to that position, he served in various administrator, teaching, and coaching roles in the Madison County, Rankin County, and Hattiesburg School Districts, and in several private schools.

“My parents were not formally educated, but they always instilled in me and my brothers the determination to achieve the best education possible, and then go out and help others do the same,” McGehee said. “I am looking forward to working with the Lieutenant Governor, the Legislature, and others to continue working toward that goal.”

McGehee earned his bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Southern Mississippi, master’s degree in administration from Mississippi College, and doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from Mississippi State University.  He has been married to Jodie Poole McGehee for 40 years, and they have one daughter, Jessica Faye McGehee.

Not that Ronnie McGehee isn't qualified because he most certainly is a great selection. But this is also Hosemann lining up Madison County votes for the 2023 GOP primary.

Good job Delbert. An early Christmas present for Nancy Loome and the liberal education establishment.

Why is Ronnie McGehee’s home address listed as the old central office in Flora, what use to be the old Flora High School? He seems to make money on kickbacks from property he obtained for the school district. Also, I hope he loses the “marbles” that are in his mouth when he speaks. None of us can understand him.

What a great pick. Someone who actually knows something about education!

Stellar choice. Sue Jones, Mike Kent, and Ronnie McGeehee and their work in creating one of the best school systems in MS have been the cornerstone of Madison County's successes. Sadly, the Canton School District is the anchor that is sinking Canton. And they shouldn't be combined, as Canton needs to get its own house in order.

Canton school district gets $1.2 million from Nissan every year. Where’s all the money going because it dang sure ain’t going to the schools.

Very good choice. Now add Mike Kent and make a great choice.

Please don't count Sue Jones among any group credited with building the Madison system. McGehee and Kent, yes. And I spelled McGehee correctly. For those who don't know, the hee is not pronounced. Gene is the goober - Ronnie is not. Good choice. Probably should have selected to run Ole Miss instead of that classless JuCo veteran.

8:45, close, but no cigar.

This is Hosemann lining up Democrat votes for the 2023 general election. Just as his Vice-Chair of Education, and his representative to the PERS Board has been.

But why should we be surprised? Just showing his true colors.

12:50, if you don't want them combined, you best keep your trap shut with all of your Canton bashing. Cleveland is a good example of what awaits.

Last I heard, Kent was doing work for the Education Department. Not sure if that is a conflict of interest. But so is claiming the old central office as your legal address. These two and many more were a part of the good ole boys in Madison County.

Where's the conflict of interest? Kent is retired. More than half the employees at the State Ed Department are retired or prior school district personnel The state education board has no requirement that one live in a certain district or town. McGehee's hometown is Natchez. He lived in Madison County for many years. He may live in Ecru or Woodville now, for all we know. You can piss and moan all day long, but you can't deny the interest in education of either of these men.

If you want the status quo defender of all things government schools McGehee is your man.

December 17 at 7:09 you just nailed it. He’s as liberal as they come and hides behind a republican facade.

7:09 and 4:05...Provide evidence of what you claim. If you don't like the man for some reason, fine, but why lie about him? Step up or step out.

7:09 - Public Schools (you call them government schools) are required by the state constitution. Please get woke.

Uh 7:53 - try holding a residential 16th Section lease in Madison County. Delbert and the SOS legal team gave McGehee a lot of rope to run with - and run with it he did. Del and McG say they did it for the "school children". I still have yet to meet tax paying "school children".

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
