C19 Update: Record Deaths, Bad News All Around

The Wuhan virus picture darkens in Mississippi set yet another record was set for deaths caused by the virus. The Mississippi State Department of Health reported 2,191 cases of Wuhan virus and 79 deaths today.   However, 56 of the deaths took place between December 12 and December 21.  The total number of cases is 197,691. The virus has caused 4,490 deaths.  Nursing home deaths comprise 40% of overall Covid-19 deaths in Mississippi. There are 154,669 recoveries.   The charts below are worth several thousand words.

I tend to ignore the chart that graphs the number of cases.  It can be skewed by variables such as reporting and testing.  However, the charts for deaths and hospitalizations provide a better idea of the severity of the pandemic. The first chart covers the last three weeks.  The second chart tells the whole story.

And, no word from our governor....asleep at the wheel? (and that is not the band based in Austin, Texas)

It is inevitable that we have already exceeded our 7-day death average that was set back in July. It takes a couple of weeks for the data to be complete, and the number is going nowhere but up.

Where will it stop? I remember when 3,000 dead Mississippians was viewed as absolutely unthinkable, now we will probably double that and nobody seems to care. This is going to kill 2 out of every 1,000 citizens in less than a year's time. 1 out of 100 will have wound up in the hospital.

The real tragedy is a proven safe and effective vaccine is already here and there will be at least 1,500 more Mississippians who will die needlessly as they wait helplessly for production to ramp up while covidiots continue to party like nothing is going on.

Those Obama death panels are arriving at Mississippi's rural hospitals that have closed or will soon close due to refusing to allow Medicare funding of the state's poor. With no one at the the front line hospitals to determine the cause of death other than county coroners the dead will all be considered to be victims of coronary failure and won't that be a great relief for the anti-maskers and Kung-fu fluers.

Mississippi's slow motion downfall continues to be the "us against them" racial divide. This pandemic is just the most deadly and undeniable result so far. And the poor white people are obviously easily expendable to the majority of voters as long the death toll of Blacks is significantly higher in comparison.

Thanksgiving deaths/hospitalizations starting to show up. We’ll likely see a small reprieve for a week or two and then a big ramp up after Christmas and New Years. People will travel and ignore preventive guidance, as usual.

Kingfish this has to be FAKE NEWS because numerous numbskulls have vociferously said so many times before on previous posts.

Alabama has been under a mask mandate since July 16.

https://www.tuscaloosanews.com/story/news/2020/11/05/alabama-mask-mandate-gov-kay-ivey-order-extended-december/6175275002/

Mississippi's mandate came August 4 and expired September 30, with select counties since.

One would think that the case rate in Alabama would be much better than ours?

Dr Hobbs said in the press conference this afternoon, "They didn't have to die." Well, Dr Hobbs apparently has some sort of magic that can keep people alive.

Since most people don't have any knowledge of history, many more people died during previous epidemics. In comparison with such things as bubonic plague or spanish flu, the numbers are much less now than then.

Take your precautions, it is a good thing. But expecting that wearing a mask is somehow makes you immune is more BS spun by HollyNews. If you don't contract the virus you still could die in a traffic accident, or even get hit in bed by a falling tree.

"They didn't have to die"? Hello empty brains, we all are going to die. Unfortunately this time is nature sending a illness. Can we stop nature? Heck, the virus itself is starting to mutate.

Take care, take precautions, and be wise. But stop thinking you live in a fairy tale world where you will live forever if you don't get a kiss from mother nature.

The death numbers are deceiving as they imply that they are yesterday's deaths, until you read the fine print that they were earlier in the month due to the constant late reporting.

Of course this has been going on since day one.

However, the state's talking heads use these numbers to scare the public - "worst day since...."

I saw people at a local big box store walk in not wearing masks, get handed free masks at the door to enter the store, then take them off as soon as they got in the door. Employee said there was nothing they could do and company policy was not to confront customers.

I wish someone tracked LTC recoveries

2:58 Alabama has 50% more people than Mississippi and about the same number of deaths. I'd say they are doing much better than we are. Of course, a mandate only works if there is punishment for not following it. The people in Alabama are generally no more educated or willing to help others than people in Mississippi. It is not surprising to see deliberate ignorance of infectious diseases in both states causing a higher effect from COVID.

And now I see where Guv Tater Tot has issued a mask mandate for all counties, with the exception of 4. If you're going to have a mask mandate, why not make it for ALL counties?! I'll be the first to admit that I hate wearing these fucking masks, but I'm trying to do my part in this pandemic.

@ 3:46 PM

Comparing the total number of deaths for 2 states with different poplulations is the whole point. The chart normalizes the difference by using #/million in order to make a comparison between the 2 population sizes.

Maths is hard!

If we were only as smart as the enlightened liberal states that have mask mandates, strict lockdowns, and well-educated citizens this pandemic would be well under control. What's that you say? These shitholes are having an increase in covid cases, too. That can't be. I was told in no uncertain terms that this was only happening in Mississippi or other redneck places. The covidiots that get on here and slander the good people of this state are the most ignorant, self-loathing, hypocrites that breathe God's good air.

For a supposed medical doctor to say these people didn't have to die is nothing less than fear-mongering. Does this clown think he's God? Regardless of the advancements in medical knowledge and expertise, people will continue to die. That is an appointment we will all make.

@2:40, why is it the governors job to keep YOU safe from a virus?

@2:42, “proven safe?” Gene therapy disguised as a vaccine that’s been tested on virtually nobody and actually killed animals in past trials when they were exposed to the real virus and has only had a few weeks trial run? Ignoring long-term consequences? Sign me up!

@2:47, YES! This is fallout from Thanksgiving, literarily a month ago for a virus that allegedly has a 14 day incubation period!

@3:15, you are correct. In fact, confront me and the last thing you’ll need to worry about is COVID

@3:46 PM - Exactly! When Gov. Reeves and others compare Mississippi to Alabama and Louisiana regarding face mask mandates and the number of CV19 cases, they conveniently omit any discussion that mentions the differences in populations and the number of urban areas in those states.

3:55 you ever been to Issaquena County?

Or Sharkey, Perry, Green?

I don't know which four counties are not included in the mask mandate, but I'd bet on Issaquena, and can probably name the other three given a few misses. (Wilkinson, Amith, Sharkey, Green woule be on my early lists)

Lack is masks is not the issue. Kids in the teens and 20s partying every night and then bringing it home to mom and dad and grandparents is the issue.

Never take the word of MSM at face value. One local station reported in the 6PM Sunday newscast that over 195,000 Mississippians had died from COVID thus far. (I shit you not). They never retracted it.

Man, are we tough or what? At least two rustics on this thread are going to beat up anyone who asks them why they’re not wearing a mask. I hope they both work at Tractor Supply in Hazlehurst.

I think 2:45 gets the award for cramming the most political/social hot buttons into two short paragraphs:

Barack Obama (just his name is sufficient to inflame passions)- check
Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")- check
"death panels" - check
healthcare reform - check
Medicare reform - check
rural poor v. everyone else - check
misreporting of COVID-related deaths - check
maskers v. anti-maskers - check
racism - check
classism - check
more racism - check

It's almost like a troll farm fed a bunch of propaganda points into a computer, which then spit out an online comment.

Alabama? Well, me and my Ginny ate at a sit down seafood restaurant in my hometown of Bayou La Batre just about 3 weeks ago. Full capacity, nobody, not even the wait staff wearing a mask. Well, me and Ginny, we were wearing our masks. I thought they'd at least put a mask on the life size cardboard standing Nick Saban in the corner.

Years ago I enjoyed finding tough guys like 4:17 driving on I-55 and taunting them until they dared me to meet them at some truck stop. They would identify their truck and when I showed up with a couple of car loads of friends to laugh at them they'd make lots of threats and a few of the wannabe badasses pulled guns but luckily they weren't so stupid they would fire. Their are plenty of tough talkers around who think they impress someone other than themselves.

For those idiots - this is real. After 3-4000 hours - yeah, 80-90-100-plus hours a week over the last 40 or so weeks - dealing with this while hearing from morons, fuck it. If we can figure some way it will only kill the dumbasses, OPEN IT UP! For the rest, please, please, just do the few simple things, like wearing a mask, distancing, washing you hands, etc. Pretty please?

Well, anyway, merry motherfucking Christmas.

Does anyone ever think of the “we’re all gonna die anyway” poster as The Angel of Death?

Food for thought. I mean, it’s just there almost gleefully pointing out that we’re all going to die.

Anonymous said...

"Take note, Fauci took the Moderna NOT the Pfizer". I'm betting it was saline.

"Does anyone ever think of the “we’re all gonna die anyway” poster as The Angel of Death?" Think he/she is stating many folks feel they have control over when and how they will die. None of us have that type of control. I learned at an early age, rather quickly, I did not have that control so I gave up worrying about it.

Death is part of life. Only the faithless fear it. One way or the other death is only an exit from this existence to another. The lack of faith by the individual doesn't change these truths. I suggest you make peace with these truths, or you can continue to live in fear.

8:48 - People say I don’t have a faith yet I am not faithless. I am also not afraid. I just don’t find pleasure killing other people... I go every day with my mask to my job, in which I have close contact with dozens of people. I go shopping for groceries, use countless shopping opportunities on the net. I do not go to parties or restaurants. Some see that as punishment/prison/lack of freedom. I disagree. Countless new recipes to cook, books to read, movies to stream. Exercise equipment wants to be used, too. Zoom and Meet keep me connected to my loved ones. So, please stop portraying everyone who disagrees with you as faithless or scared. We are fine. We just don’t agree with you.

Anonymous said...

8:48 We can't avoid death altogether, but we certainly can do things to postpone it. That is why we have laws regarding DUI, murder, pollution, dangerous drugs, seatbelts, childhood vaccinations, etc. It is also why we have spent so much time and effort over the centuries developing treatments for things that can kill us. Why do you think physicians have always been one of the most respected professions throughout history?

Inevitability of something is not a reason to simply give up all hope and do nothing at all. Postponement of the inevitable can be a good thing for society and for the individuals if you can let yourself think beyond today.

Anonymous said...

8:48 must have hit a few nerves. One says they have faith, but neglected to say in what. With a quick pivot, comes in with a passive/aggressive move indicating 8:48 wanted to kill someone. How that came into play is a mystery. Then for some reason begins to describe their daily activities proving, what?

The other listed laws passed by men and men. If you can't see that these laws were passed for fear of death, I don't know what to tell you. The fact that doctors/men were respected for the perceived notion that they somehow postponed death requires you to be simple-minded. Do doctors defeat death, people die in hospitals every day. So, you tell me.

Death is certain, the only question is the timing. Is the Christian Bible correct when it says that death is an appointment with the time being known only by our creator? The Bible made this claim many years ago, can you disprove it?

Anonymous said...

If your Christian bible says that “death is an appointment with the time being known only by our creator”, then why do people go to the doctor at all? Why do they start cancer treatment, why do parents bring their children to the pediatrician, why do they want everything done in their last days, tubes, catheters, resuscitation, instead of signing a DNR instead of waiting peacefully at home for their appointment? Are these people all non-Christians? Or are they all Christians who don’t believe enough or correctly? How about baby proofing your house? Maybe your baby was meant to but her little finger into the electrical outlet? Telling your teen to buckle up in the car? Maybe they were meant to die in that accident? What are you doing?

Ecclesiastes 9:11 - 11 I again saw under the sun that the race is not to the swift and the battle is not to the warriors, and neither is bread to the wise nor wealth to the discerning, nor favor to the skillful; for time and chance overtake them all.

Time and chance... not predestination

Anonymous said...

Hahahahaha. Somebody has gotten triggered. It would appear your dispute, or problem isn't with me and the questions you raised. Your problem is with the Bible. I didn't put that in the Bible, neither did I put in the many other things that support it. The teachings of the Bible are plain for those who earnestly seek the truth and for some reason I don't think you are looking for truth. You are asking questions only the creator and the individual know the answer to.

Now then, as for what I'm doing I'm handling a snake. It was a snake that tempted Eve in the garden and you made an attempt to have me sin by passing judgment on people I don't know. So, now what are you doing?

Please excuse me Kingfish, I didn't intend for this to become a Bible study.

Anonymous said...

Here's my $0.02 on the theological discussion: God gave us brains, knowledge, science, and healthcare professionals. I believe he intends for us to use them.

Anonymous said...

You are partly correct. What you said wasn't worth the $0.02 and healthcare professionals are an invention of man, on those two you are wrong. You are correct in that all wisdom and knowledge flow from the creator.
God also gave a measure of faith to all mankind and a heart to believe. What are you doing with those?

Anonymous said...

Kind of full of yourself, 10:14, aren't you? Perhaps you have been endowed by the Creator with more than a fair share of knowledge and wisdom, for the purpose of illuminating our folly to the rest of us. Or perhaps, as I suspect, the following describes you well:

"Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall."

Carry on with your snake handling.

-8:31

Anonymous said...

So as soon as I ask questions I am labeled as triggered. Well, better than burned on the stake. The methods of the blind believers got modernized. What is still the same is their discomfort if they see someone not blindly believing...

Anonymous said...

Is Kingfish letting the Bible study continue? Alright then. What I was full of was banana pudding. Very good, from scratch, banana pudding.

No that really wouldn't describe me well at all. You don't learn at the Master's feet with a haughty spirit. What it takes is desire mixed with a healthy dose of humility and the leadership of the Spirit. If you were to see me in a public setting I wouldn't be drawn to your attention.

The Kingfish has been very gracious and I thank him for it.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
