Addiction Marches On

JPD probably saved someone's life yesterday.   A reader posted this message on Facebook yesterday:

I took this yesterday at one of the gas stations @ Northside and 55, at the pump. I never saw the needle, but there was fresh blood on her thigh so I assume she had just shot up in her leg. She was passed out for at least 20 minutes, with her car in drive and her foot on the brake. I watched multiple cars stop at the adjacent pump and saw multiple people peer into her open car window, but no one checked on her or called 911. I was across the street, but I noticed the car had not moved and I hadn’t noticed anyone get out. So I went for a closer look and found her as you see her in the photo and called 911. The car had Holmes county plates. She was quite skinny, with a variety of tattoos and appeared to be in her late 20s or early 30s. 3 JPD patrol units arrived a few minutes after I called 911, and the sirens brought her back to life. Not sure if this qualifies as an overdose. JPD immediately opened the driver’s door, put the car in park, and removed the keys. The first question was something like ‘what drugs do you use’. I think I heard her respond “fentynal”. JFD and AMR both responded as well, and she apparently was healthy enough to go go to jail. The 3 officers spent quite a while searching her vehicle, and they apparently found additional drugs and/or paraphernalia

The mother of a young boy is currently residing in the Hinds County Detention Center.   Props to JPD for responding and taking control of the situation.

I am a fan of Chinese history and it has taken me decades to study due to their long recorded history. Ten years ago I reached the opium wars. Interesting yo lesrn about how the British emptied the Imperial Chinese treasury of silver with opium from British India.

Now that China has robbed us of our factories they now have us hooked on Fentanyl, a modern equivalent.

Revenge is a dish best served cold like a century egg.

Little doubt that she scored her drugs at that station and couldn't wait to get her hit. Dealers like to do business where they can jump on and off the interstate easily. Kind of like the parking lot of the steak place on the west side of I-55 at County Line.

I've been trying to get some records on a drug dealing business nearby yet for some strange reason, the city keeps stalling.

Per review of the Hinds County jail docket, our sleeping beauty appears to be miss Megan Penelope Ford from Saucier, MS.

I don't know if any addicts are following this post, but I hope it might help someone go straight.

Thank you for the history lesson, 12:58. Lest we forget, whenever we find ourselves lamenting the sins of our own past, they are nowhere near as bad as the sins of the British Empire. Of course, I still love Churchill and Downton Abbey.

the city keeps stalling

It's almost as if you are getting close to something you shouldn't be.

I wonder if the status of Jackson as a Sanctuary City might have something to with it?

Very scary how easy it is to get stuff that will kill you these days. Don't fool yourself into thinking that could never be your daughter.

Came across similar situation on I70 90 minutes east of St. Louis just over a month ago. Man and woman, Pontiac Grand Prix, she was slumped over forward in the front passenger seat, he was half in and half out of the open driver's door. They were both out cold. A crowd of travelers surrounded the vehicle. Missouri State Highway Patrol had already been contacted and rolled in about 2 minutes later.

Who is managing the C-L's JJ Watch Desk today KF? Is it Fowler or Gates? Will be fun to see how they rip this one off.

Sad this young lady is not Happy with her life.
Drug Dealers should be stood against a wall & shot to Hell! I will be Happy to supply the ammo & serve on a firing squad if asked.
No mercy. No Peace for Drug dealers.
Build the wall & keep a high percent of this drug Sh*t out of the United States!

1:29 here. 90 minutes West of St. Louis. My bad.

Bingo brilliant person at 1:13, you hit the nail on the head.

Everyone knows the opioid epidemic is unique to Jackson and to other sanctuary cities like it. Only the brainwashed sheeple of democratic strongholds take heroin. That’s why rural republican areas, like Appalachia, have come out unscathed.

Next time, please be more honest about how intelligent your posts are by writing them in crayon.

JPD needs to locked this woman up and all these junkies. All these drug addicts from Madison, Scott and other counties flock to Jackson and are nothing but low-lives. They do most of the property crimes in Jackson trying to score their next hit... drive up to any vacant property in Jackson and you’ll find one of these devils stripping copper 24/7. For example, look at the Jackson Enterprise Center building on Hwy 80. They cross right over from the trailer park behind it and no one does anything to teach these people a lesson... It’s a darn shame!

@1:35 this was actually posted on the "Save JXN" facebook page yesterday.

It's not only drug dealers. Doctors issuing non-essential prescriptions just adds to the supply. My son got started from pain pills found at a friend's house in his mom's medicine cabinet. She had 90 days worth.

Anonymous said...

Not many folks are stupid enough to deal at a gas station....too many cameras.

Anonymous said...

Your son ripped off meds from his friend's mom and it is the physician's fault? Damn, you are screwed up.

"Your son ripped off meds from his friend's mom and it is the physician's fault? Damn, you are screwed up."

He would never gotten his hands on them if they weren't sitting there not being used.

Anonymous said...

He never would have gotten his hands on them if he wasn't trying to rip off meds from someone else's house. Whether the meds were being used or not, whether the quantity prescribed was correct or not, is none of your damn business. Sounds like your thief son was an addict looking for drugs to rip off before he found the stash.

Do we have this same outrage and pity when the junkie is African American? She is obviously from a single parent household, where's the welfare reform convo?

@1:42. What about the planes??? There are so many small, rural runways in this state. There’s not telling WHAT is being shipped and distributed out.

@1:58, Reading Comprehend much? A bit overly defensive?

KF said, the city keeps stalling

1:13 said I wonder if the status of Jackson as a Sanctuary City might have something to with it?

And you go off the deep end about heroin in Appalachia? Did it occur to you that perhaps Jackson is trying to prevent drug dealing illegals from being identified and deported due to the insane leftist ideology of the radical mayor who thinks he is a captain of a resistance movement? Maybe you think you are part of the same Resistance movement?

Not only do kids go through medicine cabinets but so do many "guests". I had a lady who I barely knew knock on my door one day and ask to use my restroom. She said she had been on a walk and had gone further than she usually did and begged to be let in. I knew of this lady and thought it was fine. I found out later this was a scam that she pulled a lot as a ruse to go through people's medicine cabinets. And by the way, she was in church every Sunday on the third row. Just sayin...

Please remember this when marijuana legalization comes up for vote.

Marijuana is a gateway drug, whether physiologically or psychologically.

It has the "attractive" promise of pain relief, and of making some rich, and adding to the state coffers. All are empty promises in the end.

Please consider voting against it when it comes up.

Anonymous said...

Maybe we should make opioids illegal and legalize marijuana. As a ff/met I’ve never once worked a od for weed but unfortunately have worked more than my fair share from opioids.

You mean to tell me that our fifty year old war on drugs has not stopped the flow of drugs into our communities? Color me shocked. We can't keep drugs out of prison, how in the hell can we keep them off the streets? As long as there is demand, we will have drugs, and as long as it's "illegal" there will be a black market and crime. Time to try something new and regulate drugs like alcohol. Portugal did it a while back and saw great results. Look it up.

Anonymous said...

As a conservative I wanted to cry when I saw all three republican governor candidates are against medical marijuana. Opiods fine but weed illegal? Really? For medicinal purposes?

Anonymous said...

Do we have this same outrage and pity when the junkie is African American? She is obviously from a single parent household, where's the welfare reform convo?

Another stupid hypothetical by the stupid troll who poses stupid questions.

The war on drugs is simply a way to spend more on special agents, hot rod cars, trips for training, etc. The war on drugs is also a great excuse to confiscate somebody's property, whether its a car or a wad of cash. The war on drugs certainly has not done anything to improve our standard of living because drugs cost 100 times what they should due to the black market and people are killed because of the money and others die rather than seek help (this young lady is a prime example).

But elected officials and LEOs have all drunken the kookaid fed to them by big pharma.

2:40 pm, see you in church Sunday wearing your Sunday best clutching your Bible.

To the weed-as-cure-for-alcohol-and-drug-problems crowd: It doesn't work. I tried it and I just wound up stoned, drunk, and hooked on pills. I don't have an opinion on whether pot should be legal. I just know from experience that it won't cure a drug and/or alcohol problem.

P.S., If your kid develops a drug problem from taking someone else's prescription, it's his own damn fault. (Hint - Anyone who steals someone else's prescription already has problems)

Sure, cameras are great deterrents. NOBODY ever robs a bank or convenience store anymore.

If you look at those pictures, you can bet she felt so good. Really does invoke images of 18th and 19th century Opium Dens. Doesn't it just make you want to chase the Dragon with her?

Choose a decade and pick a movie. Junkies are always portrayed as tragically glorious.

Very sad.

She obviously has a serious addiction problem. What a waste. Getting locked up in a Mississippi jail is one of the worst things that can happen to someone with a serious addiction to heroin or heroin like substance (oxy/fetanyl). Zero help while you're locked up and access to whatever substance you desire. Only thing jail will do for her is keep her off the road and away from being a danger to others, including her son. May be the best and only option for her and the law abiding public.

Addiction can happen to anyone. More common than we would like to admit. Destroys families, lives and communities. None of us are immune to it. Had a mother of a drug addled middle aged (upper white middle class) married couple rent the house next door to ours in order to get them out of her's. Took us and several neighbors (along with the local PD) close to 18 months to get them to vacate. Not my family, but certainly had a front row seat to the kind of destruction such horrible addiction creates for everyone subjected to 20 + year addicts. They have an absolutely zero give a sh!£ attitude when it comes to others. It's all about feeding the monster.

I am old enough to remember when crack hit the African American community in the early 80s. Lock em and throw away the key was the solution. I don't hear the same call now, we all know it's because this is a white people drug. They need counseling and sympathy. She will be back on the street in a week.

Ah yes, the old Black Crack vs White Coke race argument.

Remind us how in the 1980s when black gang gang bangers were machine gunning city streets in bloody turf wars from LA to NYC were getting harsher sentences than non violent yuppies that got busted with a gram of coke during a traffic stop in their BMW.

Yes, please give us that tired non-emotional purely logical argument again.

Like the TV ad says we will all be affected by this at some time in the future. Mine was last week when my 35 year old fireman nephew died taking a pill laced with fentanyl. His entire family was unaware. He just rec'd a promotion and Fireman of the Year Award.

Make all the jokes you want this hell is coming for all of us and our families.

Make all the jokes you want this hell is coming for all of us and our families.

CDC estimates nearly 49,000 opioid (including fentanyl) overdose deaths in 2017.

US Census Bureau estimated the US Population in 2017 at 325.98 Million.

Sorry for your loss but your prediction is absurd.

Anonymous said...

Interesting how KF not only whines about not getting credit from local news media for using his posts for stories and also embeds facebook posts from others but does neither for this very popular fb page, Save Jxn

@6:06 PM - he is in denial and is trying to make his kid look like a victim. The kid is either just a thief, or already had a drug problem, or both.

He was pre-disposed to do that.

Anonymous said...

How many of these users were not addicted to Rx opioids before buying them on the street?

Methinks most.

That means that they willingly and irresponsibly started shooting-up to get high, knowing that it is a felony.

For this "innocent victim" kid who stole drugs from a medicine cabinet - he too is a felon, not a victim.

Anonymous said...

9:31 Let me clarify, I did not mean to say all 325.98 million of us will be taking drugs. What I was implying is families will be affected. We will soon be able to know a family or be an affected family.

Sorry for my not being more clear.

Anonymous said...

9:31, Alcoholism/drug addiction is a family disease, and it causes a whole lot more damage to a whole lot more people than just "49,000 opioid (including fentanyl) overdose deaths" per year. If you think it hasn't touched your family in some way, you're probably the one who has it. The big lie is "I'm not hurting anybody but myself."

Anonymous said...

3:03..........are you really that stupid to think drug dealers wont deal around a gas station? PLEASE!!! Drug dealers will deal around anything anytime in front of you and your children. They don't care. They are trying to make a dollar. And the addict certainly doesn't care they are just trying to get high. Drugs are everywhere and that's just a fact

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
