WLBT's Melissa Faith Payne posted this video of a beatdown at Fortification and Lamar streets.
WLBT sent a reporter to the scene and reported a pugilist was sitting in the back of a police cruiser.

At least nobody got shot....yet
This IS Jackson, MS...thugs being thugs. And that, my friends, is the bottom line.
Why didn't the credible messengers step in and ask those misguided folks to stop their fighting?
Kids being Kids - Jackson style. Just be happy you weren't stopped behind them.
This is getting as bad as Disneyland. And as usual, the women come in for some pretty rough handling.
Extremely civil behavior for Jackson residents. I’m shocked someone wasn’t shot.
Shots were then fired

it appeared that UMC campus police even responded to the scene. I was in the area, and there was a very large response from emergency personnel. Sad to see this, and can't help but think that this is what no hope looks like
I drive a car that's 20 years old. It's a great little car, paid for, safe, relatively presentable.
So the first thing I noticed in the video was that both parties involved seem to be driving newer cars than mine. Now, I can't imagine that the people in this video have the self control and good manners required to hold down a decent job (I could be wrong, admittedly).
So I'm left wondering: how do the people depicted in this video get by? How can they afford cars, guns, clothes and the time to get together in the middle of the street on a Wednesday afternoon? Genuinely curious - because I can't imagine social welfare programs pay very well, so I assume they have some real income.
Maybe I'm doing life wrong...
@7:03 AM
While you arent completely wrong on all your points, I would like to inform you that a used Chevy Cruze and a Hyundai Elantra near 100k miles are two of the cheapest cars you can finance as they are basically at the end of their useful life despite looking relatively new.
In short they are disposable cars when new and worth even less on the used market.
"Credible Messengers"!
Yes! I forgot a bout them!
Where were they? On break?
I wonder which one of the city leaders or community activist will step up and condemn this type of behavior first? Antar, Stokes, The Kaz, BLM?
Must have been a rough day at the office.
@7:03 am..I too wonder how these legions of slackers that I see on TV 24/7 misbehaving pay for the stuff they are constantly throwing about. My favorite is the part of the daily "who shot John" report that states victim was "transported to the hospital by private vehicle". (Most likely in the presentable but disposable Chevy Cruze mentioned by 7:44 AM above) BUT, once said slacker arrived at the ER just who is it that picks up the tab for the next several months or even years of medical care the misbehaving yewts will require?
More 'Unity in the Community,' as the mayor calls another of his bulls--- initiatives
The last time i saw a beatdown this bad was when a rankin racist forgot where he was and called somebody the N word.
They afford things probably bc they’re drug dealers or something else illegal.
Typical day in the Bold New City. Nothing to see here.
"Broad daylight" means nothing. They are not concerned in the least with who sees them, hears them, or gets hurt by them. They respect nothing especially themselves. It has not always been this way, but they are being raised by a thug culture promoted by the media. And it will only get worse.
This is how high testosterone men behave. All of the chubby soy latte betas that post snarky anonymous comments and debate star wars and comic books wouldn't understand what it is like to be a virile male with real strength and stamina.
This is what peak male performace looks like.
9:56 lolol. The boys will be boys days are over.
Animals. They are animals.
Just another conflict resolution meeting paid for by taxpayers and antard ladumba initiative.
I bet these good people were on their to one of those beautiful Stop The Violence Community Awareness rally’s when this happened.
These fights are so confusing to me. I never know who is on whose side. One minute two of 'em are working together and then the next, one dude with the pants fallin down is punchin another dude whose belt seems to not be workin' so well either. Just like the Disneyland fight recently, too. When will National Geographic start analyzing these fights as animal behavior in the wild?
I''ll add to 7:03's wonder how that everybody walking the streets or at a bus stop have a 'smartphone' they're glued to. Not a flip phone, or a basic telephone, but one connected to the internet. I would think if Obama phones, they'd be cheap and simply for voice calls? Even the street people have them.
Thankfully, MS Space Force was watching this whole thing in case it escalated too far.
You want BOLD? You get BOLD. There's yer trouble.
Just open a new attraction at the Jackson Zoo & put gang guys like these in it
If you saw two dogs fighting in the street animal control officers would be their in a heartbeat capturing them by using a noose. I suggest the animal control officers get these dogs in the video off the street.
Raymond jail is a safe place in jacktown. At least the guards show up and stop it and then they take care of their medical bills. Pretty good deal.
To 9:56 a.m., the only solid shot I saw land was the one on the girl in the white. And she took it like champ.
For those of you who are bewildered by how people thrive in current Jack town, watch the documentary "Idiocracy" 2006. It was such a frightening movie by Mike Judge, that FOX killed it. Only released in 130 minor market theaters for 2 weeks, then pulled. It has gained a cult following. But be warned, you will laugh for the 1st 25 minutes, then when you realize the futureis already here, it gets scary. If you've never heard of it, read the reviews on IMDB.
@9:38 PM
Idiocracy was a asinine movie from a trashy director and that's why it wasnt marketed and got a limited release. It is only popular among the types of simpleton portrayed in the movie.
What was witnessed in this vulgar street fight, as well as the earlier Disney fight, are degenerates who never evolved. Not people who somehow devolved, such as what is implied in Idiocracy.
Wonder what's in that plastic bag in the hand of the victim ... well, loser. He doesn't seem to want to let go of it even in the middle of fighting. Must be valuable. Could that little plastic bag be what the fight was all about? Could that little plastic bag be a source of income for some of these street thugs? Of course that's rhetorical!
