The folks in Eastover and the Country Club of Jackson can breathe a little easier.
Capitol police arrested and charged Michael Champion with multiple counts of burglary. A Madison County grand jury indicted Champion for two counts of auto burglary and two counts of identity theft.
Capitol Police arrested Champion in March and charged him with felon with a firearm. Hinds County Court Judge Johnny McDaniels set his bond at $50,000. The defendant obviously posted bond. He was wearing his GPS monitor when apprehended this week.

Madison County Grand Jury? Huh?
We weren't in a state of panic. And, as usual, our criminals are not exactly masterminds! Most of us have the money and smarts to defend ourselves with security measures and insurance to cover loss and damage. We chose the daily convenience of city dwelling over the low risk of being a target.
The worse crime spree in Jackson came during the all white city government days ...a rapist and a couple of murders of the affluent.
Hinds county judges strike again. As a Jackson resident I’m just thankful the neighboring counties have judges that care. Ours suck
Good Lord - a felon with a gun committing burglaries wearing an ankle monitor. This week's representative for Jackson recidivism.
+100,000
Ankle monitors sound good but don’t work (obviously) Nobody at JPS or the courthouse monitors that crap
Yet Northpointe HOA turns off comments and won't approve posts.
Respectfully Judge McDaniel needs to go. He’s constantly giving ridiculously low bonds to repeat offenders, reducing bonds set by the Municipal Court judges, etc. This guy was an already convicted felon on an ankle monitor and in possession of a firearm, and he gives him. $50,000 bail, which is $5000 cash??? Good lord. I have $5000 that says this guy gets caught yet again. Thanks, Judge McDaniel….for turning them loose time and time again.
