Yet another band mom has gotten in trouble for alleged embezzlement.
The Desoto County grand jury indicted Krystina Thompson on July 10 for embezzlement. The indictment states:
between the dates of the 18th day of June, in the year of our Lord, 2024, and the 3rd Day of March, in the year of our Lord, 2024, in the County and State aforesaid, and within the jurisdiction of this Court, at a time when she was an agent or servant of Southaven High School Band Boosters, embezzle, fraudulently secrete, conceal or convert to her own use approximately $39,161.94, the personal property of Southaven High School Band Boosters , which property had come or been entrusted to her care or possession by virtue of her office, place, and employment, either in mass or otherwise
The police report provides more information:
An internal audit discovered the alleged embezzlement. The Southaven High School Band Boosters are seeking donations to cover the loss as they are forced to operate on a shoestring budget. That means no band camps, no band trips, and no out-of-state band competitions.

Somebody get out the corn and wheat shorts!!! QUICK! ! !
That woman is HONGRY!!
Hoist the mainsails and ready the harpoons mateys! Tharr she BLOWS!
I wondered where Mama June got off to.
“This one time, at band camp, I ate a tractor-trailer load of peanut M&Ms.”
A strange coincidence, but since Krystina’s apprehension, Snickers, Twinkies, and doughnuts are no longer mysteriously disappearing from the Southaven concession stand.
She didn't spend it at Weight Watchers.
Mississippi is the center of the "Bible Belt?" Could have fooled me.
She is now qualified to run for county supervisor, Congress-critter, or senator.
She didn't spend it on meth, but it's tough to beat the Twinkie habit and stop eating 50 of them per day, chased down with 50 sodas.
Embarrassing for her children
A girl can have a pretty good time at a candy store with $39,161.94 to spend.
Her idea of sacrifice is instead of eating the box of six Twinkies, I'll eat five Twinkies.
The police report provides more information:
Almost more information that a person should want.
"Sense that time it was discovered that..."
"I have sense reviewed these financial documents..."
I used to be a detective and work a bunch of embezzlements. It always happened when someone had access to money and unverified trust. Those two together are a problem.
Looks like she just beat the final boss at Golden Corral.
I'm surprised to learn that her 'sister thief' in Brandon served only A QUARTER of a five year sentence. That's one year and three months if my math skills are functioning. What about all that stolen money?
It's also alarming to find out that these booster organizations must have zero controls in place when entrusting one person as caretaker for the money.
Before I would contribute a dime to cover the loss, I'd want to know what controls were in place, and, if none, what controls are NOW in place.
Meanwhile, Jeanine Pirro informs us that, because of DC's permissive legal structure, when all 12 thugs who attacked Big Balls, are finally in custody, she will not be able to do much to them. "They'll be taking Yoga, and doing Arts & Crafts."
The woman in this story, did a bit of pilfering from a trivial entity. Big Balls' attackers caused a severe concussion to one of the most useful brains in the fight to save Western Civilization. Severe concussions have life-altering consequences.
Band Mom got 5 years. The DC Thugs will get yoga.
Is she so fat she can't open her eyes?
Also, does she have a neck brace on?
Hope she can get some GLP-1 in prison.
I'm just a 67-year-old who works all day in this hot summer weather. I wish I had $39,000.00 to pay my bills.
5:45 - Surprised the Brandon mom only served a QUARTER of her sentence? You might want to query your worthless legislator (and they all are) about that, next time he runs on his tough-on-crime platform. Lots of criminals convicted of more serious crimes are quarter timers, too.
Typically, booster clubs have no more than one person handling the deposits, another doing the ordering and one doing the cooking (if running concessions). Sometimes it's only one. Everyone else is serving the food, etc.
It's very convenient for schools to turn activity management over to these clubs, because generally, the clubs keep their money outside the schools' coffers and therefore exempt from purchasing laws, and it's one less thing for the Principal to manage. That is great if everyone is honest; not to good of someone is a crook.
But, one rule of thumb....if someone wants to exclusively handle EVERYTHING with the money by themselves, you better be watching him/her.
This troll stole $2600.00 dollars a week for 15 weeks and no one monitored it? No sympathy on my end except for the kids.
Me too, and all checks should require a double signature and no credit cards.
I back the blue 100% - that won't ever change -
Backing the blue though doesn't mean you can't point out that the grammatical errors contained in that police report. Goodness gracious, great balls of fire!
It’s 27 miles from Southaven Ms to Robinsonville ms ( where Casinos are located) $40,000 in 14 months probably gone to one of the many Casinos in that area. Not I don’t know for sure this happened but I won’t rule it out. I just wish she would have called me so I could show her which machines to play! I only lost $100,000 the last 2 years however I’m a baller in Mississippi standards. I made my money working 2 and 3 legitimate jobs the last 50 years, I can afford to give my money to away!
Surely that's her driver license file photo, not a mug shot. There's no height chart behind her. I see a lot of those kind of photos released where the alleged perp is smiling broadly when they ought to be bawling in front of a height chart. Just saying...
There may be some new policy - if you reference it while you're being booked - that you are in fact presumed innocent until proven guilty. So, you can refuse to have your photo taken in front of that height measurement wall.
There was no height chart but there was a width chart on the east wall. It fell to the floor when she entered the room.
I think you nailed it.
That belt just has a few extra notches in it...
She was released from custody because she couldn't fit through a cell door.
It's sad how often this BS happens with youth organizations. My AAU basketball coach embezzled from our 12U team back in the day. Don't think charges were ever brought, but a lot of West Jackson mommas got some street justice as I understand.
Didn't approve the comment because it included the daughter's name. Take out the name and approved. It was a good comment.
"She pleaded guilty in 2024 and was sentenced to serve five years in prison with another fifteen years suspended. She was released from prison after serving a quarter of her sentence." Gee, I cannot imagine why these things keep happening....
The ballsy thing about the Brandon Band mom's ordeal is her daughter had the audacity to create a Go Fund Me page asking for donations for her mom to get her life back together after she got out. It hit the Brandon social medias and they got BLASTED by literally everyone! And rightfully so as they have only received 4 donations and $135.

"Hey y’all, this is (redacted daughters name)! As many of you know, my momma has been away for 15 months and I was wanting to raise money for her that she can use for basic necessities and helping her acclimate back to normal life. I know that raising money is a big ask, but even the smallest donations would mean a lot to me and even more to her! So, thank you in advance to anyone who has the heart to give. I love y’all, and I know my momma can’t wait to hug all of y’all’s necks very soon!"
"Please donate money to us because the authorities took all the money that my momma stole from your kids' band"
Somebody suggested requiring two signatures on checks written by 'these types'. Problem with that is 90% of the money is cash donations or hot dog money, either kept by the 'treasurer' in a shoe box or deposited so she can withdraw it....for expenses, of course.
