No, we are not talking about the national debt or federal spending but what is happening in good ole Mississippi.

Commas matter
More data centers? I hope not, because all those do is add a couple dozen jobs while also massively increasing pollution and electricity bills.
Good for them. Hope it pans out for them.
$40 Trillion ? For 28,000 people! That's amazing!
Dammit, I hurt something rolling my eyes again.
Pandering. A good economic developer keeps his/her mouth shut.
Running for higher office in 3, 2, 1...
Reminds of the kids who apply to 50+ different colleges then crow to their local newsers that they received a gazillion in scholarship offers.
Maybe he is prospecting for the job with the Golden Triangle Economic group.
The way that pipeline is nickeling and diming landowners over fair market values, I'd be shocked if this totals more than 400k of impact.
Trey Lamar hasn't taken credit for this yet? Shocking...
Math is hard. And it's a she.
data centers are going to be our undoing. The amount of power and water they use and once running the paucity of real jobs after the tech guys come in and get sweet deals isn't worth it. When the power cost is passed on to the average utilities consumer people will figure out just how bad we are getting screwed so people can use AI to write papers and make deepfakes. Just because we can do something doesn't mean we should and AI will get out of control.
"$40 trillion in POTENTIAL capital investment".
I am potentially Tom Brady.
AI is slated to crash......bank on it.
All these data centers are going to turn out to be a Faustian bargain for the people of the state. We've been sold down the river once again by our legislators and governor.
They're predicting 100x the losses as happened during the dot.com bubble. In olden days, the politicians/bankers would hang for not knowing better.
LMAO the data centers are for MASS SURVEILLANCE. They will be funded by your own federal tax dollars.
This is the correct answer. California, like Canada and the EU, have all started legislating all manner of data privacy laws. While the 3 letter agencies are exempt, private big data surveillance must obey them. That is why every state is getting data centers like this. Keeping the data on Mississippians in Mississippi for when the Mississippi legislature follows the rest of the nation in passing some manner of data privacy laws. You people should follow something other than SEC football.
Does that mean all 28551 citizens will have jobs and prosper?
$4 trillion is equivalent to Japan’s total 2024 Gross Domestic Product
