There will be no showdown downtown in federal court today between Tracewood Apartments and JXN Water.
JXN Water claims Tracewood owes $910,000 in unpaid water bills since 2022. Tracewood claims JXN Water never provided meter readings or other documentation to justify the bill.
The docket in the Tracewood Apartments 2021, LLC v. JXN Water states:
The 8/29/2025 Evidentiary Hearing is continued at the request of the parties. The hearing will be reset for September 10, 2025 at 9:30AM.
So has the case settled?

If it's been continued, someone with walking around sense would conclude 'it's been settled'.
If the case has been continued, someone with walking around sense would conclude it's NOT been settled.
It appears some actual effort is being made by both parties to resolve the issue and more time is needed.
It's equally plausible that settlement negotiations are fruitful and both parties think they can reach an agreement in the near future.
Maybe they still working out the
details.
If it's been settled, why would the
hearing be postponed?
If you think $910,00 has changed hands--THINK AGAIN!
Just a guess, but it'd be that both sides and their attorneys took to heart and mind that a federal judge told them to work it out ASAP. I'd further guess that at least one attorney on each side knew he didn't mean, "Y'all just give it your best and if y'all can't work it out, y'all come on back and I'll gladly help for just as long as it takes for us all to come up with something everyone will love! Kumbaya and viya con Dios, y'all!"
Per Ted, an agreement was reached, and details will be disclosed at the hearing. Tracewood gets more time to pay but JXN gets more money,
I'm glad it was settled cause Jxn Water
needs the money.
