Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey issued the following statement.
On Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at 8:53am, the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call related to an unresponsive male at a house on Hwy 80 between Brandon and Pelahatchie.
After deputies arrived on-scene, they found 36-yr old William Earl Morris deceased in his residence suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Deputies and investigators with the sheriff’s office have been following up on multiple leads since the initial call this morning and will continue to do so through the night including several persons of interest.
Based upon the investigation, it appears that this was not a random crime, but that Mr. Morris was specifically targeted by a person known to him.
Due to the fluid nature of this incident and the fact that this is an ongoing investigation no further information will be released at this time.
If anyone has information regarding this crime, please contact the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department at 601-825-1480 or Central MS Crimestoppers at 601-355-TIPS (8477).

Everyone in the area better hope it is a "targeted killing" by "a person known to (the victim)." If it isn't that means some lunatic decided to pick a random house and kill whoever they found inside.
Here in Jackson, we have to deal with the violent youth that can't control their emotions. In Rankin County, deaths and crimes against persons are methodical and evil as fuck. In Madison, well, fuck your traffic. And that's all I gotta' say about that.
