Failed Canton mayoral candidate Comelia Walker wants a rematch in court. Ms. Walker challenged her election loss in the April 22 Canton mayoral Democratic runoff election to Tim Taylor by 43 votes in Madison County Circuit Court but lost yet again. However, the runoff loser is going to take her fight to overturn the election to the Mississippi Supreme Court.
Ms. Walker claimed voters were disenfranchised in the Trails of Madison apartments, Kingston Subdivision, and the Westside Trailer Park. The petition alleged Canton annexed these areas in 2020 but failed to enter them in the Statewide Election Management System (SEMS). The city allegedly did not update the voter rolls and the Canton Democratic Party Executive Committee did not correct the discrepancy.
The losing candidate argues the number of people affected was greater than the margin of victory.
Ms. Walker claimed there were 221 registered voters at the Trails, 500 voters in Kingston, and 100 voters in Westside.
All Madison County Circuit judges recused themselves from the case. It was assigned to Special Circuit Judge Judge Jeff Weill. Judge Weill heard it all in a trial lasting several days.
The learned jurist said it was clear "not one voter was denied the right to vote or was disenfranchised in any way." Circuit Judge Dewey Arthur denied a similar petition several weeks earlier. Judge Arthur held it was too late to enter the addresses in SEMS since that petition was filed the day before the election. However, the Court ordered the city of Canton to provide affidavit ballots to any residents of the disputed areas who showed up to vote.
Judge Weill denied the petition as he held the petitioner showed no evidence anyone was denied the right to vote nor could she provide any evidence of the number of affected voters. Circuit Clerk Anita Wray testified she had been working with the city of Canton for over a year to update the voter rolls after annexation and sent a notification card to each voter whose address was in the annexed area.

“However, the runoff loser is going to take her fight to overturn the election to the Mississippi Supreme Court.” I believe you mean Lawrence Blackmon wants it in front of the MS Supreme Court. There is quite a bit of CMU monies involved here that he and his family/Law Firm want to get hold of. She, by herself, is not bright enough to come up with this strategy.
Remember to twerk to the polls today.
Attorneys Angela Ford, Barbara Blackmon, Ed Blackmon, and Bradford Blackmon represent Comelia Walker. Who's footing the bill?

This is kind of like a credit card. I represent you right now for no charge.If/when you get in as mayor, you give me lots of city jobs/contracts. Get it now, pay for it later.
Attorneys Angela Ford, Barbara Blackmon, Ed Blackmon, & Bradford Blackmon Run it into the ground!
Ms Comelia Walker should become an influencer, she has the physique and looks for it. Can she play golf or party hearty?
Jeff Weill is an intelligent, virtuousy fair Judge after being the best Councilman to ever serve Jackson. God bless him and his family.
How sad and repugnant that the Blackmon's want to foist this completely inexperienced person, who was also involved in the Canton Public School District testing irregularities of 2023, upon the citizens of Canton to be their Mayor and head up city government. Walker makes Lumumba look actually qualified.
She strikes me as a female Lumumba.
So, we have an election denier. I was told democrats didn't do insurrectionist acts such as this.
Walker is the puppet; the Blackmons are the puppet masters.
I'm afraid 8:28 is right, and this is all about getting (back) to the Canton Municipal Utilities trough.
This is embarrassing for the City of Canton. The Blackmon’s should be ashamed but they aren’t because they’re greedy.
Wait till the video of her twerking at Top Golf makes the rounds.
She's going to court, not sending her minions to tear down the city hall. See the difference?
June 3, 2025 at 11:52 AM, you left out the word yet.
The twerk video just goes to show…Trash is as Trash does.
Can they not just have a “Twerk Off” in the town square and let the crowd cheer for the winner???
Blackmons are behind this? Must don't be no dog-fighting up in-air right now to defend.
