Allegedly stole $32,000 while on duty
The Pearl Police Department issued the following statement.
Although the wheels of justice may sometimes turn slowly, justice is approaching for Taylor Lofton. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: accountability is a core part of our mission at the Pearl Police Department. Accountability is not reserved solely for criminals—it applies to everyone, including those who wear the badge. In fact, as law enforcement officers, we are held to a higher standard. Upholding that standard is essential to maintaining the trust and integrity of our department and our relationship with the community we serve. To preserve the integrity of the ongoing investigation and the pending court proceedings, I will not comment on the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation’s findings at this time. We remain committed to transparency, fairness, and the principles that guide our service to this community. The Pearl Police Department will continue to cooperate fully with investigative authorities and provide updates as appropriate. Nick McLendonChief of Police
Kingfish note: Lofton allegedly stole $32,000 from a dying woman's house. The now-former Pearl Police officer allegedly pilfered the money during a call to the medical emergency. An MBI affidavit states:
Rankin County Court Judge David Morrow set Lofton's bond at $50,000.

Yet another example of the piss poor pre-employment background investigations done for MS LEOs. "He's a 'good ol' boy,' so hire him."
Just conducting an IQ test on this rocket surgeon would have eliminated him for employment.
"Accountability is not reserved solely for criminals—it applies to everyone, including those who wear the badge."
Ummm - he is a criminal.
11:17 - You don't say what in his pre-employment check would have disqualified him. He may have been clean. Do you know something we don't and if so, please share it. If you don't, you're just talking out your ***.
Who knows if a pre-employment exam of any kind would have predicted such. Temptation is the story of why all humankind is flawed.
Yeah, but how many Hispanics has he arrested on the interstate through Rankin county?
Absolute power corrupts absolutely. The officer will be treated with kiddie gloves in court because he’s an officer who abused the law and not a regular person. I’d be shocked if he spends a day in prison. It’s absolutely ass backwards.
I do know, but can't discuss personnel matters.
With all those first responders on site trying to resuscitate someone, what was the reason for the coroner to already be there?
LMAO 🤣 How is what he did any different than the Civil Asset Forfeiture that Bryan Bailey uses to enrich himself? Is it because a Niknar judge didnt rubber stamp his crimes the way they do for Bryan Bailey?
Yeah....they steal too. SMH
Guess he'll end up at Rankin County SD
I wish I could post a facepalm picture or emoji
Good candidate for chief of detectives at Niknar SD.
@1:04 If a Rankin County Sheriff pulls you over with $32k then yes, you forfeit it. You don’t have the freedom anymore to drive around with that much cash in America. Having $32k in your home is a different story.
