Want the scoop on what went down at the special session last week? State Representative Jansen Owen (R- Keg & Barrel) dishes the dirt on the Empower Mississippi podcast with host and all-around good guy Grant Callen. They discuss the session, the standoff between the House and Senate, and the conservative agenda in Mississippi. Enjoy.

Did they discuss how our "conservative" leadership pissed away so much taxpayer money on a special session because they didn't do their jobs during the regular session? I'm guessing not because every single one of them is chicken shit. They prefer to take advantage their "conservative" base's ignorance about how government and politics are not the same thing.Government is about serving the people. Politics is about getting re-elected.
Why didn't he discuss Speaker White acting like a 3rd grader and taking his toys and going home? The Rep. in the interview said he thought they left "to save money", but guess again. They were paid for the entire day they met from 12:01AM-12:20AM and then went home. Several of the changes the House made to the bills will have to be vetoed by the Governor in order to not wreck programs. I've lost all respect for the child-in-Speakers-clothing.
The income tax thing is just smoke and mirrors. You wait and see because the money has to come from somewhere. also the speaker has sold his soul to big Pharmacy and those that want more ways to gamble.
Oh yes, Speaker White (R-PBMs).
I could not believe (well I could actually) that he said they went home to save money!! BS! The second the clock struck midnight they got paid for the entire next day even though they didn’t actually work it. Also heard they got absolutely sloshed on the House floor waiting to gavel back in at midnight. The MS House of Representatives is completely unhinged. Where are the grownups?
In special session, legislators receive the same expense reimbursements they receive in regular session. In addition, however, the 175 members (including the lieutenant governor) will receive an additional $75 per day. It is worth noting that legislators receive $1,500 per month when out of session. If they had voted to remain in regular session, they would not have received the $1,500 for April and the $1,500 for May. MOFOS
