Horhn Wins, Parkinson Wins

An upset took place in Vicksburg as incumbent Mayor George Flaggs went down in flames.

Willis Thompson: 44.2% (1,572)

Are there any absentee or affidavit votes that have to be counted still in ward one

Anonymous said...

Foote's GOTV effort let him down.

Anonymous said...

Greene and Parkinson will both vote to increase the ad val millage. Just watch.

Anonymous said...

Any Absentee votes for Ward 1?

Anonymous said...

Northeast Jackson is now represented by Grace Greene, Shanda Yates and David Blount. All democrats.

Anonymous said...

187 absentees yet to be counted

Anonymous said...

hOLD THAT THOUGHT, THE FAT LADY ISN'T SINGING YET!

Anonymous said...

I hope all the Republicans who voted for Green realize she is a dye heart Dem.

Anonymous said...

Might want to check the results again for Ward 1

Anonymous said...

WLBT says it’s Ashby by 11 votes.

Anonymous said...

Incorrect.

Anonymous said...

Foote is now ahead according to Fox40

Anonymous said...

Foote has risen!!!

Anonymous said...

Jump the gun much?

Anonymous said...

Is there not a run off in a municipal general election? I've never seen a plurality in a general before.

Anonymous said...

WLBT is reporting differently for Ward 1

Anonymous said...

Ballot recount in 3, 2, 1...

Anonymous said...

WAPT and WJTV now reporting Foote with 1738, Greene 1728, and Barnes 1713. WLBT is showing lower vote totals than the other two. That race is too close to call until all absentee ballots are counted. Since mail-in absentees have until June 10 to arrive, it's going to be a minute!

Did the tax increase in ridgeland pass or fail?

9:34, dye heart? I loved Bruce Willis in Dye Heart, Dye Heart 2, and especially Dye Heart with a Vengeance.

I'm glad we won't have to hear about Zach anymore, now if we could only vote out Clay Edwards

Lumumba leaves office with no animosity no resentment said...

Shanda Yates is Independent, not democrat.

Anonymous said...

Is it really a “thrashing” if someone with a “D” next to their name gets 56 percent of the vote in Jackson?

Would like to see the precinct results.

Anonymous said...

Oh joy. We finally got rid of Lumumba lapdog Virgi only to pick up Lumumba lapdog Greene.
Jackson can't win for losing.

Anonymous said...

No surprises in Clinton but the turnout was abysmal.

Flaggs losing is a shocker and a step backward for Vicksburg.

Liquor in Pearl? I didn’t even hear about it in church Sunday.

Anonymous said...

Richard White appears to have won reelection as mayor in Byram. Hooray!

Anonymous said...

Agreed. Clay is certifiable.

Anonymous said...

I know Foote lost, but let’s be honest, Jackson’s only hope is to completely clean house. It’s gotten so bad in Jackson that people thought Foote was actually somewhat competent. He wasn’t worth anything. We will see how this new lady does.

Anonymous said...

The crook may have no resentment but the citizens have a lot of resentment towards the crook.

Anonymous said...

Shanda Yates is an elite limousine liberal. The white boarding school rich elite that looks down on working class ppl. The white St Andrews crowd in fondren votes her in

Anonymous said...

Foote lost a lot of us who came to understand that he was deliberately ill informed on issues and unresponsive to his constituents when they attempted to contact him.

Anonymous said...

7:20 am You are apparently very insecure and defensive with a boulder rather than a chip on your shoulder. Rather a lot of " rich folks" in Jackson and in Mississippi , in general, had working class parents who came to understand the value of an education.
Perhaps, the biggest value is learning not to rely on emotions but on factual information and learning how to distinguish fact from fiction. There is nothing " ennobling" about being rich or poor. You are either fair minded and ethical and willing to learn what you don't know or you aren't.

Anonymous said...

I love that these white men are living rent free in your heads everyday.

Anonymous said...

What is certifiable is acting as if you are forced to listen to Edwards.

Anonymous said...

Jackson's death warrant has been signed.

Anonymous said...

Foote is up by ten votes with 100% counted on the latest results on the WLBT website.

Anonymous said...

June 3, 2025 at 9:59 PM
It passed 72-26

Anonymous said...

Foote needs to be much more responsive and communicate to constituents. This is a major issue I have with him,

Anonymous said...

11:40 - wtf are you talking about? I'm not sure you have your people straight in your head.

Anonymous said...

June 4, 2025 at 9:05 AM
Realistically what can he do other than acknowledge complaints. Jackson doesn't have a City Countcil-Manager system. It has a strong Mayor weak Council system.

Anonymous said...

I did not make the comment at 11:40 but they aren't wrong. I've been surprised the Lumumba/Greene connection has not been brought up during Greene's campaign. But yes, it's a thing. It's been several years, but Greene hosted a campaign event for Lumumba in her home.

Anonymous said...

Violence and blight in Vicksburg has been on a steep rise for a couple years now.....and clearly the casinos haven't been holding up their end financially . Mr. Flaggs was on a roll until he wasn't.

Anonymous said...

I’m not surprised about the liquor in Pearl. They allowed the sale of that Delta-10 THC Hemp smoke stuff back during Covid. Nearly indistinguishable from cannabis. So basically, Pearl decriminalized weed in a roundabout way since the layman can’t tell the difference. And of course, the liver stained hands hate that shit so they want their booze!

Anonymous said...

@8:36 Exactly. He comes across as a redneck who I wouldn't want to emulate, but he's created a nice niche for himself. He most certainly has brought issues to light that the typical Jackson democrat voter can't deny. They have no intention of cleaning up their act, so he has an unlimited source of content. A train wreck on both sides of the aisle and it's hard to turn away from. Highly entertaining tbh.

Anonymous said...

Congratulations Ridgeland. You raised taxes. I don’t eat in Jackson and now I won’t support restaurants in Ridgeland. Enjoy your park.

Anonymous said...

I heard Taylor Turcotte, a few times on Chip Matthews a few wees ago on WYAB, what happened in her race?

Anonymous said...

What about all those misguided fools, like me, who thought Kim actually had a shot at being mayor? He didn't even take his whole street.

Anonymous said...

Flaggs blew Trump one too many times and it cost him. Add violent crime and his silly ties. Not surprising. He’s kinda dumb too.

Anonymous said...

I thought he had withdrawn and then he was on the ballot.

Anonymous said...

WLBT.com says with 100% of votes in that Foote leads Lumumba Greene by 10 votes. Have we dodged a bullet or will Foote and the Chokwe surrogate have a runoff?

Anonymous said...

You think Grace is a Chokwe surrogate?

Anonymous said...

9:50
So your $100 meal will now cost $101, and you’re going to boycott all the Ridgeland restaurants? Genius.

Anonymous said...

9:50
Pearl and Brandon both have an added tax on restaurants. Better go to Madison to eat(you will pay a lot more than 1or 2% to eat there).

Anonymous said...

It's spelled "die hard", Suzie B

Anonymous said...

Hate that about Flaggs. Liked him in the legislature and again in Vicksburg.

Wish Foote had won. Maybe it will be different once absentee ballots are counted.

Anonymous said...

@3:35 pm Try to keep up. Foote is leading by 10 with all ballots counted. There will definitely be a recount.

Anonymous said...

Foote is dead weight. If he wins or loses, his constituents lose.

Another tax in Ridgeland. Thanks, Gene, for moving County Line north (strip malls at Costco) and for the new taxes. We'll be dining in Madison or Gluckstadt, or Flora going forward.

Anonymous said...

Sorry. Didn't see the update.

Anonymous said...

If you can’t afford a time-limited 1% restaurant tax you need to eat at home. Ridgeland is fortunate to have affluence of restaurants to support expansion of parks & recreational activities.

Anonymous said...

Good! Ridgeland doesn’t need folks that can’t afford a 1% restaurant tax for expanding parks & recreation- and I bet you are a lousy tipper😡😡

Anonymous said...

Gotta pay for those worn out streets & utilities. And for all those folks that don’t pay their water bill.

Anonymous said...

@4:41 PM is a genius. He has figured out how to save $1 on dinner in Ridgeland by driving to Flora and spending $5-10 on mileage expenses on his F150/SUV. Why didn't we think of that?

Anonymous said...

Grace Greene hosted a fundraiser for Chokwe Antar Lumumba. One hosts fundraisers for candidates whose values align with your own. Grace Greene is the most dangerous candidate in this race, unless of course one thinks Lumumba has been a fine mayor.

Anonymous said...

Hohrn is going to cash in significantly more than he has been doing in the Senate for decades. Gravy train! Contract steering! New mayor, same as old mayor. Right? Suckers.

Anonymous said...

Did everyone see Horhn and family screaming High 4, High 4 at his victory party? Maybe not but you know that is what they were thinking. Now let’s see what cast of characters lines up to get his Senate seat.

Anonymous said...

Yup, big PERS payday for the latest empty suit Mayor.

Anonymous said...

The Ward 1 race is unbelievably close. Meanwhile in Pelahatchie one race for Alderman was tied, and they had to resort to the ole coin flip to get the winner.

Anonymous said...

I have no doubt that justice Gibbs is chomping at the bit to slide into another empty suit political gig

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.

Sonjay Poontang and his band headline the night with a special steel cage, no time limit "loser must leave town" bout between Alan Lange and "Big Cat"Donna Ladd following afterwards. Kamikaze will perform his new song F*** Bush, he's still a _____. Did I mention there was no referee? Dr. Heddy Matthias and Lori Gregory will face off in the undercard dueling with dangling participles and other um, devices. Robbie Bell will perform Her two latest songs: My Best Friends are in the Media and Mama's, Don't Let Your Babies Grow up to be George Bell. Sid Salter of The Clarion-Ledger will host "Pin the Tail on the Trial Lawyer", sponsored by State Farm.
