The Modern-Major General

Governor Tate Reeves issued the following statement.

Governor Tate Reeves today announced the promotion of Brigadier General Bobby M. Ginn, Jr. to the rank of Major General effective immediately.

“Major General Ginn has been a tremendous asset to our state and our nation,” said Governor Tate Reeves. “I’m thankful for his lifetime of service in the Mississippi National Guard, and I congratulate him on this well-deserved promotion.”

Major General Ginn began his military career in 1990 as an enlisted Soldier. In 1993, he was commissioned through the Mississippi National Guard’s Officer Candidate School and became a Supply Officer for Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 114th Area Support Group. In 1994, he was assigned as a platoon leader, and in 1999, assumed command of the 367th Maintenance Company. Since then, he has had many assignments, including commander at Camp Shelby and most recently, Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics.

Ginn earned a B.S. from the University of Southern Mississippi and Master of Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College.

Well done General.

Come on Tate. Did you have to ruin this guy's big moment by holding the photo-op in your grandma's tea room? Is there not an oak paneled library or something in the Governor's mansion?

MG Ginn is a great leader and well deserving of this promotion. He was my commander in Iraq and it was a great honor to serve as one of his platoon leaders.

8:11 - Army vet here. Thanks for your comment, as well as your service.

Would be great if his last name was "Major." Then he would be Major General Major.

7:59, there is no oak-paneled library in the Governor's Mansion.

Does he understand equations, both the simple and quadratical?

I don't know him, and he sounds like a good officer, but I have some questions. I Google his name and came up with stories about his promotion to BG (1-star) in *April 2024*. Now he's a MG (2-star.) So is he about to retire? How many MG slots foes Mississippi have? Is this a federal rank or a state rank?

This is his BG press release. https://www.dvidshub.net/news/469889/col-bobby-m-ginn-jr-promoted-brigadier-general

8:41, I am a former Captain, grandson of a Captain, and father of a Captain. My cousin named his son after great grandad - (first name) Captain (Middle Name) (Last Name). I would to see him be commissioned and see the look of people when he says "Hi, I'm Lieutenant Captain blank."

I also knew a Corporal Sargent (KIA - Vietnam, door gunner from Grenada).

Only in the wisdom of the DOD does a Major outrank a Lieutenant but a Lieutenant General outranks a Major General. Then, we have the Navy, where a Captain is a Colonel. We practice chaos on a daily basis.

Good Luck General Ginn!

Seems like a great choice. But is Tate standing on a box or is this guy 5'2"? Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Salute!

Congratulations Major General Ginn. And, thank you for your service.

reminder that this guy forced his subordinates to get the experimental mRNA therapy and dishonorably discharged those who refused.

@12:59 it is time for you nutjobs to move on. The military is removing the dishonorable discharge from their records.

It's not only the PERS bunch that shifts people into higher pay grades in order to enhance their retirement pay. It's rampant in the military.

@10:12 the MSNG just has the one two-star slot. It’s held by the Adjutant General. MG Boyles is on his way out, so MG Ginn’s promotion allows him to serve as the head cheese for the state’s National Guard, as appointed by the governor.

@12:59 swing and a miss, bud. The DoD as a whole “forced” folks to get the jab. By force, I mean required unless there was a medical or religious exemption. However, refusals were simply subject to administrative separation and an OTH discharge. Not a single soldier was court-martialed in MS for refusal, and not a single person got a dishonorable discharge. Either way, the DoD is allowing and soldiers separated for refusal to correct their records to upgrade their discharge characterization.

9:10am:
I agree the pink room is sissy looking for a military promotion venue, though it may be based on an original historical paint color.

Removing the OTH from their record is too little, too late. The fact is, they were discharged.

Similar to letting an innocent man out of jail after he serves ten years.

Would you have been more pleased if the photo had shown the guy doing forty pushups in a mudhole with Rambo playing in the background? Hell, it was nothing more than a gratuity promotion in rank in order to enhance his retirement pay.

Hope we make the best choice for the state on the new Adjutant General. There are more experienced 2-star Generals in this state. And, we have the largest National Guard. And, with more and more foreign disputes, we will need the most experienced, not those deemed good ole boys or big donors to Tate. I would prefer a 2-star General who was actually went through the process and NOT the one given it by Tate.

@11:55 clearly has no idea how this works. There's literally only one other 2 star in the state, MG Boyles, who is retiring, which is why MG Ginn was promoted to the slot....promotions in the military are based on several factors (years of service, time in grade, schooling requirements, availability, etc). This promotion wasn't "given" by Tate. I'm sure MG Boyles made the recommendation.

12:59, You have to have a Court Martial to get a DD. They just don't give those things out like candy. I remember the Anthrax vaccine program, had to start two different sets due to issues with the vaccine. It wasn't a choice to take it or not. Military life is like that, sometimes your choice is to do it or leave the service. Military service isn't for everyone.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
