The Justice Department issued the following statement.
A Flowood man was sentenced to 97 months in federal prison, followed by a lifetime of supervised release, for possession of abusive child pornography materials depicting minors, including some toddlers, engaging in sexually explicit conduct.
According to court documents, Timothy Daniel Steele a/k/a Timothy Daniel Gantenbein, 26, possessed thousands of images and videos of child pornography depicting adult men engaging in sex with minor children. Steele was indicted by a federal grand jury on July 13, 2021, and pled guilty on July 7, 2023, to possession of child pornography.
Steele was ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $324,876.39 to his victims and pay $5000 under the Amy, Vicky, and Andy Child Pornography Victim Assistance Act of 2018. He will also be required to register as a sex offender.
U.S. Attorney Todd W. Gee of the Southern District of Mississippi and Acting Special Agent in Charge Eric DeLaune of Homeland Security Investigations made the announcement.
The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and the Flowood Police Department.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Glenda R. Haynes prosecuted the case.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by U.S. Attorneys' Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet as well as to identify and rescue victims. Yeah-
Let's get that restitution payment out of the way first.
These moron perverts can't figure out that the FBI runs these porn sites.
Sick!! I'm NOT making excuses for this man, but you have to be some kinda mentally ill to have the urge to want to view that kind of pornography.
$325Gs ? Wouldn't hard labor for life be a more practical remuneration, the fruits of which could be sold or transferred as payments to victims?
The "check is in the mail" for the $324,876.39.
Was he locked up for the two years between indictment and sentencing? 8 years doesn't sound like a lot for this kind of stuff.
how do they indentify who the victims are?
He got less time that the goon squad and will be home in less than 24 months
I imagine hundreds of thousands of grown men and women view pornography on the internet. How does one ensure where the fine line is?

As was previously stated, the FBI runs these honeypot sites. They actually create the demand by promoting this stuff on other honeypot sites like 4chan and discord. The FBI has the largest database of CSAM on the planet. Often it is elites who create the CSAM and are rarely prosecuted (think Epstein island) and the FBI is 100% aware of who the victims and creators are. Did you ever see J. Edgar? The FBI knows what all the powerful sickos are doing. They don’t arrest the elites because the FBI controls and blackmails them. They use the CSAM created by the elites to set up low level perverts like this guy with sites he can find in google searches and alt-right image boards. Then they make highly visible arrests and parade them to justify the existence of the agency and their funding.
Meanwhile without FBI honeypots, these morons wouldn’t be able to find any CSAM because they are stupid and would instead just look at young girls on Nickelodeon and Disney Channel.
Indicted 2021. Plead guilty 2023. Sentenced 2024. AND this sentence, which should be a punishment, is not NEARLY enough. Makes me sick to my stomach- he and all predators like him.
For those people who don't believe that there are any victims in child pornography, read these three articles CAREFULLY:

@5:36 PM You are 100% correct.
I served on a jury that convicted a guy of possessing child porn. The dude wasn't accessing porn via websites or subject to any sort of enticement other than his own sick desire. He was exchanging images and videos with another individual via Skype when they caught him, but he had used other ways before that.
He had been collecting this material for over a decade and had several devices and hard drives filled with kiddy porn. As part of our duty as jurors, we had to look at copies of a few of the images from each device to ensure that the images were actually children - not young looking adults or even those of questionable maturity. The copies that we were given were of pre-pubescent girls engaged in sexual acts with adult men. Without going into details, I will say that there was absolutely no doubt that they were pre-pubscent, and the sexual content was very graphic. I wish that there was some way to delete that @#$% from my brain. This guy had been collecting and trading them since before he graduated college, which was before the various law enforcement agencies began prosecuting this sort of crime.
Don't pity this Steele guy. Any sentence he gets is too short. He deserves to be hurt for ever time he watched some child being abused or shared that abuse with others.

There will always been exceptions. But let’s use a more domestic example. Remember the MSU student who was radicalized by the FBI and the arrested her and paraded her on TV? They’ve been doing that since 9/11. Sure they’re plenty of terrorist psychos in Syria. But those a problem for the CIA. The FBI couldn’t find enough domestic terrorists to justify their funding so they started their own. Everything from violent neo-nazi groups like Atomwaffen Division, to campus Jihad groups. Remember the supposed plot against the Governor of Michigan? All materialized by the FBI. Just like how Jan.6 was a bunch of fedboys screaming and charging and hoping some dumb boomer hayseeds from Arkansas and Mississippi would follow them inside. And a few did!
@11:11
"Possessed thousands of images". This guy didn't come into possession of thousands of images by visiting a fake LEO site a few times. Maybe, he got a few there, and that's how they caught him. But, no one is going to plead guilty to this sort of thing if they thought they could mount a decent "LEO enticement" defense.
"Including some toddlers" If they are trying to prosecute him, the children in those images are very very obviously pre-pubescent. They are not adults, or older teens, or like that woman you know that looks like she could pass for 12. The prosecutors don't risk losing over questionable or indeterminate ages. So, get that out of your head.
And, sure, there have been conspiracies, but Everything is not a conspiracy. (unless you watch Fox News and read 4-Chan) I know that there is little fairness in the world, and you feel helpless. But, not everything that happens in this county and not every average white guy that gets arrested is part of some government conspiracy.
@2:28 PM
Research the FBI and MLK
Research the FBI and JFK
Forget the words “conspiracy” and “theory” because they invented that to slander anyone who questions the official government narrative.
And you are big time conflating this dudes crimes with what I said.
It is a FACT that the FBI sets up CSAM honeypots and shares this garbage.
It is a 100% fact that there would be a massive reduction in the trafficking of this garbage if the FBI would stop setting up these easily accessible honeypots.
You don’t think it is really messed up that they are making sites to share CSAM just to catch a few of the dumbest perverts?
Why aren’t they taking about how they arrested and breaking up international sex trafficking syndicates?
Probably because that would require some real police work and they can’t work from home looking at CSAM and larping as a chimo.
