Make Him Famous

A porch pirate struck in the Fondren today and it was all captured on video.  The victim gave JJ permission to post the video.  Let's make him famous.

The victim posted this message on social media:

Stolen off my porch today at 3:52pm clear as day pics of him and his truck, went to Char today and checked in with workers there and nobody recognized him…

Feel free to share the  video.

This won't take long at all...

Wouldn't be surprised if there is more to this story. This dude made no attempt to hide his identity, nor was he in a hurry.

I think this is Roll Tide Willie's first cousin, Roll Tide Billy.

I'm starting to think that guy really didn't go to Alabama.

Distinctive faux claw marks through the driver's side headlight should help it stand out.

He was way too patient for a thief. I bet there’s more to this. He looked like he legitimately wanted somebody to come to the door.

He is trying to use white privilege to poke around people’s property without getting shot. Someone tell him his neck tattoo is ruining the ruse.

What if he’s a neighbor who got a package delivered to the wrong house? Happens all the time. I agree he was not acting like a thief at all. Waited a long time

Look at all you amateur sleuths! Y’all the same ones that went after Richard Jewell. Clearly someone reported a theft and my spidey sense says it’s the same people who turned over the video.

He took one or more photos of the packages on the porch before he picked them up. I think @7:48 might very well be right. Calling him a porch pirate (accusing him of committing a crime) without knowing more than what the video shows might end up being actionable.

He wasn't waiting yall... he was making sure no one was home and the coast was clear.

Be the one yelling at me during a traffic stop about getting the real criminals off of the street.

No way this was an intentional theft. Dude was supposed to pick up something from an address - maybe even from the front porch - and take it somewhere. Got the wrong address somehow and tried to text the person when things looked strange and no one was home with a "Is this what you wanted? I thought it was ___." Shrugged and picked up the packages.

Now if the packages don't make it back, the dude is still in trouble, so I hope he doesn't panic when he realizes(d) his mistake.

He obviously was in the wrong, or the homeowners would not have published the film.

Porch pirating must be an equal opportunity crime in Jackson. Maybe he thought that he was in Brandon.

Anonymous said...

The mayor's "real time crime center" is on the case. Right?

Anonymous said...

He took way too long because he is experienced at what he is doing, IMO.

At the end of the video...he looks in ALL directions before he decides the "coast is clear" and THEN he bends down to take the packages. THAT in itself is suspicious.

Anonymous said...

Porch pirates spend a lot of time texting and put the "stolen" package in the bed of their truck vs. the cab?

No hoodie?

Nah.

Anonymous said...

It’s just a Char advertisement. Nice truck for such a petty thief.

Anonymous said...

How many times have your packages been delivered to the wrong address, let’s wait and see what comes of this before judgement.

Why didn't he take the pink flamingos??!

I can't believe nobody has said...

"ROLL TIDE!"

Roll damn tid lol.

Anonymous said...

Not his first time for sure. This looks like an experienced thief. I wonder whose truck he's driving?

Anonymous said...

If he is a non-resident thief he understands the prevailing psychology of Mississippi. He could rob an entire neighborhood and go back to Alabama free as a bird.

Anonymous said...

According to posts on Nextdoor Fondren he also pirated packages at nearby homes.

I always try to leave work ASAP for a few minutes when my Ring doorbell alerts a package delivery, but I realize most people don't have that luxury. They don't live as close as I do to my workplace, and their boss is probably not as understanding as mine. Wish this problem could be resolved before an incident (or incidents) ends (end) in tragedy.

LOL - Typical 3-toothed, Skoal dippin', knuckle-draggin' Bama fan.

Hail State!

Someone on Nextdoor knows the guy and gave the homeowner his cellphone to get more information, so I'm looking forward to hearing more about this story. WLBT was asking to play the video, too. (Before the guy in the thread said he knew him.)

Some of you people are missing a few bricks in your chimney.

The guy was NOT seriously knocking and ringing the bell hoping someone would answer. He had his little speech ready if someone did answer, such as: "My three-month-old German Shepherd was last seen wandering down this street and I wondered if, by chance, you might have seen him. He's wearing a red collar".

If someone answered, that would be that and he would thank them and leave. Since nobody answered, he was free to rubber-neck the street and neighborhood, lift the boxes and walk casually to his truck, raising zero suspicion if someone should catch a glimpse. I hope he lifted two boxes of Doo Doo.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
