Rankin-Madison District Attorney Bubba Bramlett issued the following statement.
Rankin County - Madison and Rankin Counties’ District Attorney Bubba Bramlett, announced that Judge Dewey Arthur sentenced Christopher Coursey to a term of twenty-five years for sexual battery involving two minor children. Coursey, 39, will serve 20 years of his sentence in prison and then be placed on supervised probation for five years. He must register as a sex offender and will have no contact with his victims. On July 20, 2022, the Brandon Police Department received a walk-in complaint about Coursey sexually assaulting two young children for the last year and a half. The child victims had a forensic interview at the Parker Children’s Center, which is a child-friendly setting where the child can safely tell their story with professionals trained to interview children in a nonleading manner. Additionally, both children were seen for medical exams at the Mississippi Children’s Safe Center.
The Brandon Police Department interviewed witnesses, reviewed phone records and text messages, and interviewed the defendant. The defendant confessed to committing some of the crimes reported by the victims. Based on the investigation, the defendant was charged with multiple sex crimes against the two victims. “We hope this sentence gives some closure to the victims and their families who have had to endure these horrendous acts,” stated District Attorney Bramlett. “We appreciate the Brandon Police Department, Parker Children’s Center, and Mississippi Children’s Safe Center for the part they played in ensuring Coursey will serve prison time for the terrible things he did to these two innocent children.”

20 years is a good long time to reflect. He won't change and nobody expects him to. He will have to be watched closely upon release to minimize his continued risk to children.
There is no such thing as "I learned my lesson" regarding these people.
We don't need to thank the P.D., Bubba or the counselors. The person we need to thank is the one who 'walked in' and provided the report.
Going to be a long 20 years in the clink. Don't drop the soap big homie!
Jail won't be fun for him-
10:40 - You are almost perfet; your first two paragraphs are good. But you miss it with your last statement. In this case, we need to thank all four: PD, Bubba, Counselors, AND CERTAINLY the walk-in person. Also, I would add the Judge for not being lenient in his awarding a sentence.
11:23 gets it.
The is no such thing as the very over-used word "closure," except when used by a vicitim.
How in the hell could this puke have access to 2 kids for a year & 1/2?
Does he not deserve forgiveness?
11:23 - What the unnamed person did took guts, real guts and risk and nerve mixed with a bit of fear.
What the rest did was simply their job. Not that they were not important, I just think in rank order, the initial person who walked into the police station is the most meritorious of them all.
Every time there is coordination of effort in closing a case, these people bust a gut to list each other and thank each other. None of them represent the real hero in this story.
You are at liberty to disagree with my opinion. Doesn't matter to me.
Aren't we all just perfect people I know this man he suffered with mental illness his entire life. He lost his mom a few years ago and my son who was his best and only close friend passed away soon after. If you proclaim to be people of God then you don't wish harm on him. What he did is unforgivable in your eyes but there is nothing he can do that our Heavenly father won't forgive and he still loves him. I pray that he finds healing while he serves his sentence and finds peace and gets the help he needs. For the person who said he can't change, Watch God ππΎππΎππΎ
20 years plus castration would be appropriate.
9:41 pm Please do not let him near children in your determination to be forgiving and your unwillingness to accept that your knowledge of who he is was flawed.
There is no evidence that sexual predators do anything other than gain expertise in avoiding detection which often includes pretending to embrace religion (which also later gives them access to more children) and by killing their victims. Indeed, a few have become " evangelists" and started their own cults.
You really should first learn more about child molesters. There are volumes of case studies and textbooks to help you educate yourself. The worst child abuser on my caseload was extremely charming and seemed a thoughtful, generous friend to all who met him.
Sexual predators choose professions and jobs that will give them access to a pool of victims.
GOD gives his position on pedophiles in two scriptures posted below.
Matthew 18:6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
7 Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!
Luke 17:1 Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!
2 It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.
@11:14
MDOC protects these people now. They have their own section in prison so general population can’t get to them.
Hello 9:41 - Zebras don't change their stripes; however, they all wish they were chameleons.
That you think he suffered from mental illness is irrelevant. It's also irrelevant that his mother died. Losing a parent has never in the history of the world turned somebody into a pervert.
And I'm sorry that you lost your son, but that too is entirely irrelevant to his situation, capture or conviction.
If the Lord had been inclined to change this man (or not create him), he would have followed His inclination already.
