This is why I’m a “not my monkeys, not my circus” kind of guy. Dude was minding his own business beating his girlfriend in the car while drunk like I’m sure he has many times before, then some “Good Samaritans” attempt to intervene and get themselves and innocent bystanders killed.

Look, this may sound awful, but I’m going home to my wife and kids so they don’t grow up without a father. Strangers’ bad life decisions are not going to factor in to that whatsoever if I can help it. Imagine if they hadn’t had done anything and minded their own business and kept walking. Likely the girlfriend would’ve suffered a bad beating but lived (which I’m sure wasn’t the first time, and she kept herself in that situation to receive another) and innocents wouldn’t have died. They’d be going home to their families instead of the funeral home.

Safety Rules to live by:

1) Don’t be in Jackson or some similarly situated 4th world country;
2) Mind your own business. No good deed goes unpunished;
3) Carry in case you fail at 1 & 2

He must’ve thought white people get away with murder in Jackson. Where’s the CCID judge now?

Call the cops, report the situation, keep walking.

Let the ones that have guns and armor deal with that shit.

Sad for the girlfriend who was getting beaten by a loser. Sad for the well-intentioned guy who got killed trying to help someone in distress. I am pushing for death penalty for any murder crime. Need to get this type of person out of society and send a message to others who decide to use killing to settle their problems. We value the lives of killers too much, and for too many judicial appeals. If found guilty, fast track appeal, then execute the guilty.

Enhanced carry is permitted at parades as long as you are abiding by the law and the parade route has pulled a permit. However if you are at the parade carrying a weapon and consuming Alcohol you can’t carry. Which makes the parade no fun lol.

The fairgrounds were packed with legislators and cops just across the street. The poor girl hit by the stray bullet was sitting in the back of a black pick up truck parked on the street.

Lead singer cussed the crowd, said “we’re never coming back here again.” They did one more song & they were gone forever.

Kingfish, I was also at that Collective Soul concert. After the lead singer went off about someone throwing the bottle or whatever it was, my brother and I looked at each other and walked out. I didn’t care if that jack-wagon ever came back or not. Sometime around that same timeframe, we went to see James Brown. Left quickly at that one too after all the worship chanting turned my stomach. I liked his music but I don’t worship any man.

Hate this for the Good Samaritan’s family. While the first commenter’s position is understandable, it is wrong. Evil triumphs when good men do nothing. The man did the right thing. Sometimes doing the right thing does not end well. If you stand by and watch a man beat up a woman and do nothing, you are a sad excuse for a man. If you are afraid to approach a situation like that, at least have someone call 911 and video it, and stand off a ways and scream at him to stop with your hand on your pistol. You are clinically insane if you think anyone who isn't a Republican extreme right winger doesn't want to see a murderer incarcerated or punished and I frankly don't know many Southern Democrats who oppose the death penalty.
I don't assume every Republican is crazy or a con artist or dumber than rocks or lacks emotional control ( especially anger management) based on George Santos or Jim Jordan or Margie Taylor-Greene. Nor do I think they are all criminals based on the long list of convicts Trump had to pardon!( read the trial transcripts and evidence presented).
But, then I'm not gullible and have a wide circle of caring friends and family. I can "play well with others" so I don't need to join any group or cult and pledge money or swear blind loyalty or pay to see them just to feel valued.
Do you really and truly believe that these politicians care if you prosper? Yes, and so did a lot of Germans and Italians and Bosnians and Argentinians ...all of whom found if they prosper ed at all, it was short and ended in catastrophe.
Your only hope is YOU and laws which are fair do not favor your party or the powerful. But, if you don't pay attention to the details, you'll be duped every damn time.

I would very much appreciate (perhaps from those posters who actually knew the Shooter), being told about his use of substances (since adolescence, as well as at the time of this tragedy).

Yes, he probably was predisposed to bad behavior, by life experiences (bad daycare, school bullying, a toxic family life ... who knows?), and by malnutrition (beginning with prenatal, and continuing with the sugary 'Standard American Diet'. But Big Media deliberately censors information about killers' use of substances, and, since this is a local story upon which locals are commenting, it would be nice to have input about substances;

Not just the big/bad drugs (prescription or cooked-up in labs), but also the supposedly-harmless "herbal" substance, as well as alcohol, would be of interest. And I, personally, suspect that tobacco and SUGAR help create the "perfect storm" of elements leading to a murder. Is this the sort of guy who drinks 2-litre bottles soft drinks? ...a quart of Tropicana, every morning?

Others can dwell on the moralistic aspects of the story. But I see murders as being the product of brains-on-fire. Clearly, this guy's brain was on-fire, and I want to know WHY.

He definitely will receive the death penalty. It might not come from a judge or jury, but it definitely will come from a fellow Parchman inmate. And nobody will care.

There is camera footage from four different angles showing he never touched his GF and that the “Heroes” jumped on him and the GF, putting a gun in HER face, before the defendant got his gun and started shooting. Stay tuned for more. Hey Kingfish how about a records request getting the videos? He immediately left the scene for safety and called law enforcement he knew personally to turn himself in. He wasn’t “apprehended” he voluntarily surrendered. Carried a gun because he works in Jackson and was robbed and shot previously.

Dont blame the Jackson Police. Blame the elected officials of the city of Jackson and Hinds county. THEY are the reason the city is in the shape its in.

I remember when I moved to the Jackson area in 1973, the St. Patrick’s day parade was instituted.It has managed to degenerate into a Sh*t show after about 10 years of success. People are robbed, assaulted, and if there any reason to drive on I 55 leaving the airport after sunset? Other than the fact that you can’t drive on the streets, drink the water, actually receive the water, lock EVERYTHING you own up, and watch your property values depreciate like the value of Bit Coins, for the life of me , I do not understand. It has gotten to the point that the residents are the ones locked up ( actually locked in).

I'm a female and I am telling any men out there, do not get killed trying to intervene. These women made choices. Let them deal with the consequences.

Most of these women will defend these monsters and even turn around and fight the poor good Samaritan. I will never understand women who put up with these men, any more than I will ever understand the monster-men that beat them.

I know lots of men in the South are raised to "do the right thing" but sadly, these days...the right thing is to call the cops and keep walking.
