The Capitol Police caught a trio of carjackers in Belhaven Wednesday. One of them was arrested and charged with murder as well.
The Department of Public Safety issued the following statement:
At approximately 7:06 p.m., Capitol Police responded to an armed carjacking that occurred on Gillespie Street in the Belhaven area. Around 7:14 p.m., Capitol Police officers and Hinds County Sheriff deputies spotted the stolen vehicle around Fortification Street and Lamar Street. After identifying the vehicle, officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop and the vehicle fled the area.21-year-old Ladarius Williams, 18-year-old Antione Alexander Gibbs, and one juvenile will each be charged with armed carjacking, conspiracy, felony evasion, possession of stolen property, taking possession of/taking away a motor vehicle, and possession of a stolen firearm.“Thank you to Sheriff Tyree Jones and his deputies for their cooperation and assistance with this incident,” said Chief Bo Luckey. “When we work together, we are able to combat crime and continue to make Jackson a safer city.”This case remains open and is still under investigation. Additional arrests and charges are likely.“There are no boundaries when it comes to crime and we are glad to be in partnership with other agencies as we continue to address our crime issues,” said Sheriff Jones. “Good job to all involved for swift response and getting these bad actors out of our communities.”
A Capitol Police affidavit states:
Did willfully, unlawfully, and feloniously by use of force and whHe armed with a firearm capable of inflicting death or serious harm take a motor vehicle (2022 Honda Ridgeline) from the immediate actual' possession of xxxxx xxxxxx. This occurred at 778 Gillespie Street...
Hinds County Court Judge Johnny McDaniels set Williams' bond at $300,000. However, Judge McDaniels denied bond for Gibbs as he called the 18-year old murder suspect an "extreme danger to the community." Murder suspect?
Capitol Police charged Gibbs with murder in the November killing of Doordash delivery driver Corey Price on Linden Place.

Capitol Police are doing all the policing in Jacktown!
One thing that works in Jackson! CP

Go Capitol police. What if they had the budget of Jackson? Humm
CP is taking it back. The officers they've hired are in it to win it. I know that's shit news to the readers here that have a hard-on to rip them apart. Unfortunately this is needed and from a former LEO mindset, I'll bet they didn't have to foot chase these guys long before they gave up if at all. Consequences are being established again but they've got to be consistent and lawful. This is the last battle for the streets of Jackson.
Gibbs was out on bond on the November murder? And back so soon in Belhaven?
Maybe this time the superior Judge might follow the lead of the city judge, and leave this piece of crap in the pookey - at least until a Hinds County jury of his peers finds him not guilty and turns him out with a proper blessing.
Who said he was out on bond?
Should have never been released.
If Gibbs was a murder suspect why was he not in jail? CP are doing a FANTASTIC job and Pastor Pickett should be THANKFUL & Grateful!
It could be read that way...ambiguous
JPD needs to be relegated to parking offenses only.
Job #1 for the Legislature and Governor is to set up a Capitol Judicial District and Capitol Prison to totally separate from the Jackson and Hinds County incompetence.
Reverend Pickett contact Sheriff Jones and get these young mens addresses and counsel their families. Maybe you can take the other Pastors that criticize how the Police do their jobs. Your job is to save these souls before they make life changing decisions or do you want to go to the next class at the Police Academy?
Pastor your tone would be different if it was your loved ones was criminally violated!
Make them drink the water while in custody!
Rev Pickett is a embarrassment
Kingfish,
WLBT article talked about last night Ted Henifin spoke at south Jackson citizens meeting on lack of water held by Aaron banks. The mayor is going to. E pissed on a big level bc the citizens said they blame the mayor and found out he was not honest with them on water situation
Uncanny that the violent offenders are handled with kid gloves.
Reverend Jack Leg Pickett. Where is his stable, I mean church?
Get out of Belhaven while you can!
without any insight I get the impression many stolen vehicles with armed gangsters are riding the Streets, even up and down I55. Not a comforting thought. May the Door Dash driver's family if he is guilty eventually get some level of closure.
Thank you, thank you, to to the men and women that are allowed to fight crime! To the Jackson Leaders let’s concentrate more on the young citizens that are trying to do right, and not focus trying to help and give excuses to the criminally inclined! Pastors are y’all listening! Together we can fight this crime element that is destroying our cities.
As stated before, if your families were violated, you the liberal pastors and politicians would be screaming, holy, hell naw!
Again, let the Capital Police do their jobs. And thanks to the Hinds County Sheriffs Deputies.
To the Mayor of the city of Jackson, bless your heart. A regroup is highly suggested. Chief Davis I know you’re saying High Four and I’m out of here.
Unlike "Pastor" Pickett, I will simply pray for the safety of these fine CP officers as they face the horrors of the ferals that have been emboldened by the useless Jackson Court system.
These men are risking their lives to clean up the lawlessness that the massively overpaid leaders seem to thrive in.
They are real heroes.
I placed "in November" at the end of the last sentence so it might appear they arrested him in November. I would have written "November's killing"
Police are paid to Police! Until one of yours is hurt by this crime element you will never understand the role and how Police do their jobs.
We all have a role and a place in this life, be an expert in your field. If you are not in Law Enforcement, don’t dictate or criticize how they do their jobs.
Let’s help create a safe environment and not make excuses for the criminal elements. That’s the courts job to figure it out, if rights were violated.
Pastor Pickett be an expert in your field! Tell the people the truth. Police y’all kids at home and quit calling your Pastor after a crime has been committed. “They did my baby wrong, chased him all over town”.
If he was not out on bond, Kingfish, why was he on the streets. Answer the damned question.
Looks like Capitol Police might not have totally bought into the, "Perception of Crime" philosophy.
The entire state of Mississippi is a hellish ghetto. The state Capitol is fitting.
I guarantee you criminals are thinking where the border for the Capital police is. We may need to move our operations down the road a little.
Way to go guys. Sorry they pull you over answer their questions yes sir no sir. Show them respect and in turn you will receive respect
