The Return of the Freeze

Auburn hired you-know-who as its next head football coach.  Sports Illustrated reported:

Auburn’s winding search for a head football coach ended with the hiring on Monday of Freeze, the Liberty coach who while holding an impressive on-field record was fired in 2017 at Ole Miss amid NCAA and personal scandal, a source told Sports Illustrated.

The 53-year-old Freeze, who has just one losing season in 12 years as a college coach, makes a long-awaited return to arguably the country’s most powerful league, completing Auburn’s overhaul of its football program with a splashy hire of a sometimes-polarizing figure and offensive whiz.

On the Plains, Freeze joins new Auburn athletic director John Cohen, hired away from Mississippi State earlier this fall. In an unusual circumstance, Cohen, a former Mississippi State baseball player and coach, plucked away the former coach at his alma mater’s primary rival, a long-rumored marriage that fills the country’s most lucrative opening of the 2022 cycle.Article.

State fan here. I could care less. Freeze will be another bottom dweller like Kiffin, only he will get the boot in three years.

I see this and don't care. What I care about is Prime possibly going to Colorado.

I think it's a good hire, or at least on par with the Lane Kiffin opportunity.

Sad to see Deion go to an undoubtedly smart program. Heck of a job by JSU for landing and keeping him.

First, it’s “couldn’t care less”, not “could care less” (sigh). Secondly, please let go of the little brother stuff. Enjoy being a State fan and FOR THE LOVE OF GOD get over the Ole Miss hate.

Auburn inserted into the contract that any and all of Freeze's pants, shirts, jackets or other pieces of clothing can have NO pockets.

Anonymous said...

he's one heck of a football coach. but its auburn. i give him 4 years max before they fire him...

Anonymous said...

Does the contract have a clause to shake him down and search him for burner phones each day? Will they give him a credit card with a $50 spending limit?

Auburn got a good coach. Ole Miss has a good coach. State has a good coach. Everyone should be pleased.

The contract has an ankle bracelet clause so they can keep up with him every minute. He’s scum and hooking up recruits with prostitutes, mom would be proud.

No doubt Freeze is a good coach, but I think the Auburn boosters
personally may know more about tracfone and dancing girls from Bogalusa.

I hope he got one of those fancy encrypted cellphones in his contract.

How long Freeze stays at Auburn will depend on two things, and two things only. Can he beat Alabama, and Georgia somewhat regularly. If, the answer is no, he won't be there long.

" What I care about is Prime possibly going to Colorado."

Gawd... I wish him well wherever he lands.
He did so much for JSU ! I'm surprised he's stayed in Jackson this long.

No matter his final decision, I'sure he will have safe drinking water
and not have to worry about auto or office burglaries wherever he may go.

Attn 5:34 Are you completely obsessed with the Ms. State Ole Miss “rivalry”? When, or if you ever graduate from OleMiss, maybe you can get a job that opens your naive eyes to the fact that in the real world, there are more important things than The red neckOle Miss rivalry vs. Ms. State Univ. Good luck when (or if) you ever make it into the “real” world.

Damn good coach

If State fans spent as much time focusing on their own coaches as they do other schools, they might actually land a top tier coach someday. Get over it and tend to your own small time athletic program.

I wish state would have hired freeze. Leech just hasn’t been impressive and the saving grace defense will only get worse under the pirate’s command.

The Auburn job is a death wish for any coach, sorry it had to happen to Freeze. Money is not the most important thing in life, a lesson he has not learned.

Interesting that when John Cohen hires for State, he hires Leach, but when he hires for Auburn, he tries to hire Kiffin. Different place, higher standards.

Ole miss still had an exciting season starting 7-0.

Auburn went from a Cadillac to an Escort

ALL . . . Barn! No ethics or morals to speak of with this hire. Winning matters more than anything. Anything.

Deion is going nowhere. He's topped out right where he is. No other program in the country needs a street-language, counselor to work with wayward youth.

9:06, dumbest post of the week and it’s only Tuesday. He would have hired Kiffen in a heart beat at state but Ole Miss already got him. Get off your moral high horse.

Miss’ssippi foo’paw isso very, very important because it’s so very, very small potatoes.

It’s refreshing to see so many people commenting who obviously have never made mistakes and hope someone fails. I am sure whoever you think is a great coach and never did anything questionable.

Freeze should do fine now that it’s legal to pay the players.

My dreams... they aren't as empty
as my conscience seems to be...

@9:14...

It's still not legal to buy them hookers.

With NIL they can buy their own hookers.
And drugs.
And fancy cars.
And vacations.
And jobs for momma.

Much easier for the coaches. Just give them money

Anonymous said...

Nothing moral about it. It's just that when you are hiring for State, a weirdo with a gimmick offense is ok. When you are hiring for Auburn, it isn't.

If true that he had to surrender his social media accounts, what will he use as his pseudonym for his burner accounts? JoeyHolywater, BrianKellyKilledaKid, MikeLeachscroniccough?

@9:36 AM
Most likely, they r. hahaha.

Does anyone really give a crop(a) about football anymore other than a place to bet on something....anything? Gone in a flash.

I assume state will also give Leach a raise and extension since Kiffin got one. He beat Kiffin in the egg bowl and also finished 8-4. Are the dogs going to step up?

"Money is not the most important thing in life"

No ... but it sure does help.

Ah, Burton: A mistake is turning left in a blinding windstorm when you should have turned right. A mistake is getting the answer wrong on a math test because you didn't use the right formula. A mistake is telling mom you forgot your lunch money yesterday when it was actually the day before.

A married adult calling hookers and whores is not a mistake. It's the willing, intentional result of deviant behavior and signifies psychological issues.

Remember back when Freeze was known to have told the parents of recruits that 'Mullen is an atheist'? Just wait til he gets loose on Auburn's dime.

No, that a sociopath.... psychological issues apply when you begin to actually think that you're a devout Christian while engaging in said sociopathic behavior - uh, wait - isn't that most of Mississippi's leaders?

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
