Improvement Continues at OBC

The city of Jackson issued the following statement.

The O.B. Curtis Water Plant again made significant gains overnight and into this morning. The total plant output has increased to 90 PSI. This is exceeding our goal of 87 PSI or better. The outlook continues to be positive. However, additional challenges as repairs and adjustments are made do leave potential for  fluctuations in progress.

All tanks saw increased storage levels overnight. Multiple tanks are approaching full. We no longer have any tanks at low levels. All of Jackson should now have pressure and most are now experiencing normal pressure.

Work continues in the plant today on both the membrane and conventional systems with city staff and mutual aid teams from Georgia and Florida rural water associations. Today, repair and maintenance work continue at the O.B. Curtis plant to increase water quantity and water quality. Membrane Plant Train #5 was restored to service yesterday which allows for Membrane Train #3 to be cycled to cleaning today. Today, the focus is on restoring the sludge plant to full operation. The work to repair the Anhydrous Ammonia tank leak continued through night. It is expected to be complete today.

If you are experiencing discolored water or no pressure please alert us using this online reporting tool https://arcg.is/0LDmjb. This will allow us to track any remaining issues and address them.

We are hopeful that we will be able to begin the sampling process midweek. This is contingent upon sustained pressure. We will need two rounds of clear samples to be able to remove the boil water notice. We will alert residents as soon as this happens.

I’m sure the City was going to take care of all of this before the State stepped in.
I veto these improvements. How dare the state take credit for this?

I remember how brave I thought Alan Sheppard was for going on that first space mission. I feel the same way about the first person who drinks the Jackson water after they say it is clean. Why not get some local prisoners in jails to be the official tasters.

I went from perfect pressure the last couple days to lower pressure this morning. What gives? I live near the plant.

"Work continues in the plant today on both the membrane and conventional systems with city staff and mutual aid teams from Georgia and Florida rural water associations."

Completely left out the state who is probably doing most of the work.

This is what it looks like to tackle a problem instead of just talking about it.

1. This was ghost written by someone not employed by the COJ, i.e. MEMA, etc.
2. Things are getting better now that there are adults in the room.
3. Has Chowke made it back from Ft. Lauderdale yet? If y'all believe that he didn't go there last night I have a bridge for sale.

Justin Vicery probably wrote it. He was at the CL and SH for years. He now works in comms at the city.

Well gol darn it the State will want people in West Jax to pay their waterbills. Water is a RIGHT. It's only "equitable" as our esteemed mayor would say

I’m getting the distinct impression that the 2 water plants have been producing at %50 capacity or less for years. Kingfish is there any way to determine this? It really hit me when Lamumbalot made the “brittle pipe” water leak comment a couple of days ago.

When you are stuck at the C-L you'll drink any kool-aid offered to you.

Didn't I read somewhere the entire city staff consists of two people. These two are probably the entire staff that messed up things in the first place. Maybe they should set them on a bench outside so the rest of the people can do the work needed.

I live in Jackson but left town last week to get away from this debacle. My friends up here where I’m staying tell me that Chokwe is definitely
lobbying for a plum Federal government appointment and will not run for re-election after the midterms. ....which is great news for the Jackson citizens.

@11:45 You've made my day!! Thanks for this news!

He'd be a great fit for Biden's team. He's certainly qualified to head up the Nuclear Regulatory Commission or some other high agency job that needs a programmatic organized deep system thinker.

😂 the lyingpress gettin PAID💲while kingfish holds out his hat for donations!
Y’all better be donating something, damn

If I remember correctly, until very recently Lumumba was telling his constituents that the water was safe to drink, and he drinks it himself. Total BS.

At some point, the dedicated work of a few real reporters must be developed into an oversight investigation report. Now that state and federal money are being used, maybe some body at that level can/will do it.

Whoever wrote the bulletin was just writing what he/she was told to write. That's how they keep a job. No doubt this writer was ordered not to in Luke state efforts to bail out this sorry city.

No, the plants normally produce at 85-90psi. If pressure drops below a threshold of something like 60psi a boil water notice is required due to possible infiltration, which has been the case with most of the boil water notices.

The mayor's comment about the pipes busting is just another part of his whole attempt to change the narrative. He is trying everything to avoid this administration's responsibility with failure of O.B Curtis. With his insistence that the flood inundated Curtis and yelling failing infrastructure (the pipes) and using a $2B number to fix things (that $2B is to fix the pipes, both water and sewer).

Obfuscation at it's finest and abetted by the media.

I have a question. Was Michigan (the state) blamed for Flint's water crisis, like Mississippi is being attempted to be blamed for Jackson'S?

Check out Antar's live interview on ABC's "This Week" this morning. The location wasn't disclosed, and hopefully Tate was watching.

I guess it’s true Michael Guest only uses NE Jackson for fundraisers bc I never hear from him in these type of situations. He represents ne Jackson

Has anyone heard of the plans for maintaining the plant when this is over? If the city gets to take over again, it'll be down in no time.
I pray to God this doesn't happen.

I don't expect to ever drink Jackson water fr the tap again, haven't for years, but would like to wash dishes with it and to filter it adequately for soup and coffee.

This mayor will never have sufficient credibility to sell Jackson water as potable.

Any word on what position he's gunning for? Also do your friends run in political circles?

The state is supposed to get about $429 million dollars from Biden's infrastructure bill dedicated to improving water, and sewer systems.

The appropriation of these funds should be watched very carefully, considering the history of elected officials in this state. These monies shouldn't be wasted.

The real long term problems with the COJ water system are yet to be revealed or addressed. Once the immediate ‘quantity and quality’ issues are corrected, the State (and FEDs I presume) will be faced with the funding issues in the infrastructure/pies and admin/accountability aspects. SURELY, neither group will return any amount of control over the funds for either to the COJ. SURELY.

So who is paying for all this ? The City ?
State ? Feds?

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
