Man Accuses D.A. of Pointing Pistol

A man claims the Hinds County District Attorney pulled a gun on him but the District Attorney Jody Owens vehemently denies the statement.

A Capitol Police incident report states several officers officers responded to an alleged domestic violence incident at the Electric Building on Pearl Street on September 3 at 4 AM.  Joshua Towns accused Mr. Owens of entering the building at 11:30 PM and pointing a pistol at him.  Towns said he was a visiting a female friend at the apartment.

No arrest was made the the Capitol Police submitted a report.  JJ obtained the report through a public records request.  Part of the report is redacted.

Mr. Owens responded to the police report and issued the following statement:

The Hinds County District Attorney’s Office is aware of the false reporting that has come out today, alleging that Hinds County District Attorney Jody E. Owens, II pulled a firearm on an individual and has been charged with misdemeanor, as a result. This reporting is patently false. The District Attorney has neither pulled a firearm on anyone, nor has he been charged with any criminal offense.

With respect to the privacy and safety of our staff members, the facts are that a member of the Hinds County District Attorney’s Office has been the victim of domestic violence. The perpetrator has no association with the District Attorney’s Office. As is commonly known in cases of domestic violence, a victim’s privacy and safety are of tantamount concern; therefore, we decline to release more information related to the matter, at this time. However, we can say that this allegation is, simply, an attempt to conceal the truth.

As always, the Office stands by all victims of domestic violence, and we will continue to respect the privacy of our colleague, as we do all crime victims. The Office understands that due to the recent high profile indictments and convictions, we will be a target of false stories and accusations, but we will continue to do the work necessary to uphold the law and represent the citizens of Hinds County.

WDAM reported Hattiesburg police arrested Towns for shooting several times into an apartment in 2017. article.

I don't think George Soros will appreciate learning that his wokester candidate brandished a devilish firearm.

Sometimes you have to shoot into apartments. Doesn't mean Towns is a bad guy.

If either of these punks had a father, he would’ve told them that bros come before hoes.

Anonymous said...

Come on y’all, Owens is light years better than the last guy.

"Tantamount" and "paramount" are not the same word.

This is what happens when the little brain calls the shots.

Yeah 5:43. Just ask Fox

Jesus Christ… the fact that folks believe that George Soros even remotely cares about a DA from Hinds County, Mississippi is just insane. Like what medication do you need or what medication have you not been taking?

@5:41pm - Winner.

Anonymous said...

@6:00pm - Gonna need you to be more pacific.

WLBT posted the complete report. Two things stand out Jody is wearing a holster but without a weapon and he claims the other party of the love triangle was drunk, but no mention of alcohol in the officer's reports. There is a whole lot more to this story.

5:41, Profoundly spot-on!!!

Antar now Jody, Polo's whole list of friends falling by the way side.

Sack up Nancy.

Soros’ PAC was one of Jody’s top donors. Just like a lot of DA’s in this nation. He doesn’t care about a specific DA. He wants them all. That’s how you steal elections.

Anonymous said...

At least the DA ain’t stealing from the poor

Kingfish said...

Not really. It allows him to influence the criminal justice system and also builds up a farm team. Ever notice how many D.A.'s get elected to higher office? Hell, half our own congressmen were D.A.'s.

George Soros might also be tracking all these comments. He knows where you live. He knows who you vote for. Hell soros even knows when you go no. 2. It’s all apart of his grand scheme. I heard someone on the street corner downtown the other day talking about how Soros was funding the homeless and wants as many criminals on street that he can. I mean the guy had receipts… it had Soros’ name on it. Wake up sheeple. Donald J Trump, Alex Jones, and Sarah Palin are fighting the shadow war currently to protect our elections. Some folks thought Giuliani was helping but he’s been kicked to the curb as a nonbeliever. That goes for Lindsey Graham too. Putins fighting the real fight. Soros was reportedly very involved in the Ukraine. Now Soros is gaining ground. What a shame. Our elections are the next Ukraine

@928 - yes, Soros was looking to 'buy' several DA elections across the country - for what reason, yours or what KF suggests - either or both could be the case.

But now that Soros is pumping his millions into Secretary of State elections across the country may answer the question - clearly he is looking to steal elections; probably while getting his DAs elected to higher office.

And 5:43 - you are correct, but you sure set the bar terribly low to measure from. Hell, I could have stepped over the bar that RSS left behind

🐑 🐑 🐑

Jody’s donors are a matter of public record. JJ even reported on it.

Kingfish said..."Hell, half our own congressmen were D.A.'s."

More than that! Depending on what you mean by D.A., don't count Bennie out.

In which case, please include both of our Senators.

Who goes around wearing a holster without a gun? How did CJ LeMaster get the full report but other news outlets got a redacted report?

It makes me sad that the average voter (like 9:46pm) feels we can't talk about this potential wrong doing, without also acknowledging that Republican TANF fraud is also wrong.

Jody Owens may be a POS.

Phil, Bret, Nancy etc may also be POS(s).

It's quite simple and I have faith in your reading comprehension if you really apply yourself, you too can stay on topic.

Of course he was armed. He likely hid the weapon when the police were knocking on the door. If he wasn't armed, then he stupidly left it in his car for someone to steal.

Since the Asst. Chief of CPD worked for Owens before prior I am sure there is much more to the story but the report only includes what Jody told him to put down. I was so hoping for one Law enforcement agency within Jackson that would be transparent.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
