There Was a Firefight

JJ obtained a copy of an audio recording of the Mudbug shootout last night.  It's only eleven seconds but it's bad enough as it shows what innocent families who merely wanted to enjoy the festival endured during several minutes of terror.

Hell, I can't resist.

How in the world were so few people shot? Thank goodness there weren't more, as awful as this was.

Anonymous said...

Unbelievable! This is what Jackson has become.

Kingfish said...

Probably because it was in the parking lot. I imagine it's because there were vehicles. Also, metal detectors probably don't prevent this as it was in the parking lot. Also open Carry don't apply to vehicles.

Don’t forget, there will be another outdoor entertainment opportunity this fall when the state fair returns. Get your tickets early!

Anonymous said...

Can somebody count those please?

Mayor, god dammit, get control of your city! Fire the damn police chief and pay the Sheriff his salary just like Frank Melton did McMillin.

We cannot continue this charade!

Mayor stay out of the policing business, please!

Mayor, I assume, you think yo shit don’t stink! Please stay out of the policing business! Just stay cute, as you are, and do photo ops.

The Bold New City, come to Jackson Mississippi where the dope boys rule. When you come, wear body armor!

Just in the news room, the animals at the zoo want a meeting with the mayor for a location change.

At this point, I'd be fine with one month of Marshall Law to clean up this crap.

Brilliant that the state built a brand new trade mart down there. This should be the absolute end of these "festivals" as well as the "state" fair. Its over.

Kingfish said...

Mayor? Commissioner of AG responsible for fairgrounds. He or promoter sets up security for events.

Anonymous said...

YES 7:44 MAYOR. Dumbass!!! Do you live in a vacuum? Geezus H. this is the tip of the iceberg. Good lord.

KF is a moron said...

Come on KF, blaming AG? Really? Unless I need a geographic lesson, COJ surrounds the fairgrounds. Also, I seriously doubt the offenders are citizens of the fairgrounds. How can you not blame Jackson? They allow thugs to ride around on motorcycles and cars (skid marks everywhere) and you don’t think this is related? You’re a lot dumber than you look, KF. And that says a lot.

BTW, still waiting on Lordbumba to put out a statement condemning the violence.

Anonymous said...

Just a preamble!
The summer is just beginning folks! Wait till July & August when the temperature gets 95 degrees & the humidity is 90%. The killing is just beginning!

Anonymous said...

7:44 the dope boys/ gang bangers didn’t know who is in charge of security for this event. All they know, it’s in the Jackson city limits and Hinds county where they are not held accountable!

It would have never happened in Madison or Rankin County, they know better!

The Judges and Law Enforcement in Madison and Rankin don’t play that shit!!!

These wanna be thugs know that!

Anonymous said...

The Jackson/Hinds County thugs, of all nationalities and race know not to cross any County Line with the wrong intentions! When they cross County Line they cut their radio down, sit up straight, get out of their vehicles and pull their pants up! They know how to act in certain environments that have expectations!

We need to have expectations of our kids! Teach them the right way!

Save their lives!

Mayor, you are the example, your kids don’t act like this. You teach them better! Be an example Mayor!

Poverty is no freaking excuse! We must do better!

The city with soul, but what kind of soul?

Anonymous said...

Has the mayor spoke about this or is he still in the da club in atlanta?

KF is a paid-for….. said...

kingfish is more interested in blaming the city for the non pickup of trash at the ritzy CCJ but gives the mayor a pass on jackson citizens shooting up the fairgrounds? Seems pretty clear Antar must have paid up. Real phonies are phonies even in the medium.

Anonymous said...

Just start having all events in Jackson during daylight hours!

Frontaire Strategies. said...

The difference in the liberal media and kingfish? Not much. They both pander to whoever writes the check.

This is Andy Gibson's problem. He cannot help what goes on around the fair grounds. But once someone steps foot on the property, it is his responsibility.

Anonymous said...

that audio sounds like a good opening day dove hunt

Anonymous said...

to 8;10.... so, no one has ever been assaulted or murdered in madison or rankin county?
you really should go home to your moma

Anonymous said...

It's going to be a long, hot, Summer, right?

Next.

This is the same trademart and fair ground where there is a gun show at least 10 times per year where the slogan is “ guns don’t kill people”. Keep being in denial about tighter gun laws. Only a matter of time before “rabbit” points the gun in a different direction.

Anonymous said...

I read that Andy allows guns on the property. The previous Ag Comm (Cindy?) did not.

Anonymous said...

Many, if not most, felonies in Hinds County could be prevented by putting the bad guys in jail and keeping there for full terms. Others factors, of course, are at play but the liberal judiciary is the biggest problem. This is true in most democratic run majorr cities and counties.

Anonymous said...

MS AG Commish is a yahoo and he’s an idiot for trying to have shows down there. I will never take my family to the fair or any shows down there ever again. No law enforcement presence present at all. AG Commish and team are responsible for the safety of the venue. But if they didn’t hire any officers or not enough than Commish and Promoter are responsible. Don’t worry folks 🤠! Howdy doody is gonna fix everything including the pot holes and poor water system In Jacktown

Close the fairgrounds. Tear down the coliseum. Sell the property and let the market figure out what to do with it. The state should not be in the carnival business.

Anonymous said...

On the bright side, one will no longer be involved with any such activities.

Jimmy K. Taylor said...

The ignorance of some people--yes the fairgrounds is located in Jackson but primary responsibility is that of the State of Mississippi. The AG Commissioner is in fact in charge....

Anonymous said...

Not a big fan of the mayor but this has almost nothing to do with who the Mayor happens to be at any given time. This is the breakdown of the nuclear family. Plain and simple. PLEASE....wait and have kids until both parents are financially and emotionally ready to take care of them. You don't have to be rich just have a steady income and some maturity. This simple tip would transform our city in a one generation.

Anonymous said...

@7:58

Our govt policies actively discourage the solutions you mention.
So yes... our govt is big part of the problem here- concerning the breakdown of families, etc. The govt encourages such.

Anonymous said...

I wonder if these guys ever go to burial of their friends

Anonymous said...

Let us be honest when it comes to our young society : 13 to 25 years old in this country whether they were raised right or not....color of their skin...rich or poor.......school shooters to thieves to gang bangers all see this world thru their phones and NONE cry over it. They are stone cold to violence and couldn't spell accountability if they tried. Blame Society ? Sure, to a point. Government ? Sure, to a point. These kids feel no love for you...they feel nothing for themselves.

Anonymous said...

Jackson apologists live in a massive denial bubble. Try as you may, the rest of Mississippi doesn't see this as a mistake of Gipson or the state.

May 2, 2022 at 8:48 AM -- You need to get to Jackson Eye Associates and have your myopia checked out.

Anonymous said...

Weren’t there multiple law enforcement agencies present? Didn’t law enforcement shoot someone in defense of the public? In 11 seconds law enforcement did what they could. Were the weapons used legally obtained and registered? I doubt it. This is a product of the lawlessness and gang activity in the area. AG did what he could, but thugs are gonna thug.

I'm still trying to decide if it's worth my time to read the State Auditor's musings on the brain drain.

Also who else thinks the Mudbug Festival won't help reverse any brain drain even though it got a lot of nationwide publicity?

Anonymous said...

"Just start having all events in Jackson during daylight hours!" Why's that, so a better sight picture can be obtained?

Anonymous said...

Ready on the left, ready on the right...

Anonymous said...

@12:04... do you REALLY think the guns involved in this crime were purchased legally and registered? Criminals do NOT use legal guns. They are stolen or bought from someone who stole them.

Anonymous said...

Where exactly does one “register” a gun?
I legally purchased every firearm in my safe. However, I never “registered” them besides recording their serial number and date/location of purchase in my own private ledger in case they are ever stolen.

Anonymous said...

I cannot imagine attending anything at the Fairgrounds after dark.

Or before dark for that matter.

Anonymous said...

The "Mud Thug Festival" lives up to the hype! Seriously though, I am a regular user of the rez on my boat. As I ride by the parks on the shore, I noticed they are frequented mostly by the same people that were at the Mud Thug Festival. Families and friends all having a good time grilling out, relaxing, flying kites ect.... My summation is that, the reason it does not get out of control with fighting and shootings is, 1)The parks are in Madison and Rankin Counties thus it will not be tolerated in the least, 2) LEOs are every where both on water and land, 3) and they close them down at dark!!!!!! It just goes to show you, Its all about where these things are located. Jackson/Hinds County= problems because of leadership, surrounding counties Madison/Rankin= no problem because of leadership!

Deja Vu. Was it about six years ago? Similar mud-bug event. Parking lot out in front of the Ag Museum Restaurant between there and Smith Wills. White man mugged, shot-dead, car-jacked. Was it ever solved?

Deja Vu. About five years ago. White man got the hell beat out of him and suffered fatal fist blows in Waffle House parking lot withing a rock's throw of Coliseum. Over a damned ring, some say.

Deja Vu. Greymont. Half a block due north of the coliseum. Motel. Man shot to death in parking lot.

Deja Vu. Wasn't a man shot to death at Homer's BBQ on High Street two hundred yards east of Coliseum parking lot entrance about five years ago?

Can't wait till the next Rodeo.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
