Investigation at Germantown High

A former Germantown High School teacher is under investigation for having sex with a student.

The Madison County School District fired the teacher recently after it investigated allegations the female teacher had sex with a 17 year-old male student.   The teacher is married.

The case has been referred to the Madison County Sheriff and District Attorney for a criminal investigation.

Happens in every school and has been for a long long time. Huh , Hinds Co. school system ?!

This shit never happened when I was in HS, damn.

10:12 ? I think the fun and games began around the early 70's when teachers became younger....closer in age to the students.

The number of conversations I have heard from all walks of life around the metro about Germantown are astounding. Apparently, it is a sh!tshow up there. Many people in the Gluckstadt area love the lower elementary schools, but loathe the fact of sending their kids there and talking about moving or sending kids to private schools. From this, the fights, to students having sex or other acts in school, it sounds like a free for all. If they don't get this under control, Germantown is going to ruin the area.

Good for him? said...

16 is legal in Mississippi.

before all the "hang'em high" crowd gets to commenting, why is it that a 17yo male is too immature to make his own decisions when it comes to sex and thus cannot consent, yet the same 17yo boy can grab a gun, kill someone, and be said to have possessed the required intent to be charged as an adult?

Anonymous said...

@10:43 not if one of involved parties is in a position of authority or trust i.e. a teacher.

Anonymous said...

@10:33 so are artsy liberal girls.

Anonymous said...

Did this happen in the bathroom with other kids who were taking and sharing drugs?

Anonymous said...

@10:43
It’s a crime for a teacher to have sex with a student younger than 18.

Anonymous said...

16 isn't legal if you're in a position of authority over the minor---like, say, his teacher.

Well according to what we have been reading about Germantown High School this comes as No surprise. What surprises me is how does paying close to $200 per square foot for a home and paying taxes for a shit show like this feel? Did you ever expect to pay that much per square foot and high property taxes just to turn around and realize you need to send your kids to private school? At one time it was a great place, but all good things must come to an end.

Anonymous said...

10:56 : OHHHHHHH YEAH.

Anonymous said...

11:05 - Yeah, because teachers NEVER have sex with students at private schools.

Anonymous said...

Some miraculous things happen to a young man at 17 that other males only dream of, until it happens to them also. Most don't want the female to get in trouble, so keep these magical episodes on the down low for the rest of their lives.

Our culture is reluctant to acknowledge the aggressively seductive behavior of women. After successful counseling, this teacher should be able return to work in another school.

Oh, the web of lies . . .

Southern Baptist?

The teacher in question was educated in the finest private schools the area has to offer. This is not a public school issue. It is a mental health issue.

Anonymous said...

The teacher is in the power spot an WRONG for taking advantage. I am not ignorant to biology and hyper sexual younglings. WE WEre ALL in high school and WE ALL knew the kids that were f^&%ing like rabbits to anyone that would drop trow.

Anonymous said...

So, Germantown High has a little Heidi Heidi Ho? Apologies to Cab Calloway.

Anonymous said...

The worst problem is that Madison County Schools made a mistake promoting Charlotte Seals. She's soft on the teachers and she's soft on the kids. She will intervene and won't allow bad kids to be sent to the alternative school. She's a figurehead, not a leader. You've got to be tough and no-nonsense. She enables and allows.

Madison Central is where the major drug problems are. That is a much lesser problem at Germantown.

Anonymous said...

She's not ugly but no "10." Average, but for a 17-year old, she is a 10+, at least according to his little head.

Anonymous said...

As a teacher in the county, I can tell you the drugs are coming through Flora. The middle class kids in South Madison county are all too eager to buy from these kids in Flora. These kids are held in almost God-like esteem. The white kids in Madison and Gluckstadt are starting to buy from the Flora kids at as young as 8th grade. The parents in South Madison do not want to acknowledge that their kids have problems because it will look bad to the community. Germantown parents have, for years, argued that their kids were better than the MC kids In all aspects- academics, sports, religion, morals. Yes Seals needs to crack down. This is reality slapping these parents in the face. Gluckstadt and Germantown have huge hurdles to conquer now but acknowledging there is a problem is the beginning.

New neighborhoods in the Germantown zone are selling for $220+/square foot. The developers of these neighborhoods better start paying attention. They are selling these homes based on Germantown schools being seen as superior.

Per my conversations with those in the know - Seals is a disaster. Discipline issues are up big. Test scores are down. She's getting a pass from the board because of COVID. Maybe its time we as a community stop asking the board to step in and fix the issues and just elect a new board.

Anonymous said...

2:21 : So all the GermanTown kids are just drunks then ? This finger pointing is odd as hell to me.

Anonymous said...

@2:56 You are correct that Seals is not getting the job done. I won't go as far as calling it a disaster, but the fact is that she isn't getting it done. You are also correct about her getting a pass from the board, but it's not because of COVID. There is another reason she is getting a pass. Getting rid of her would be bad publicity, and we all know why. The truth is that she's a good person and a nice lady. But she isn't performing. It's the truth.

Most Flora kids go to Madison Central. 2:21, How do you know dope is coming from Flora?

Anonymous said...

44% of Madison Central’s ‘22 Graduates made at least a 25 on ACT.

Only 27% of Germantown ‘22 Grads made a 21 or higher.

Not sure about % of dopers. Sucks that you have to be a helicopter parent just so your kid won’t eat a bag of fentanyl.

Anonymous said...

Why is everyone talking about kids drinking and doing drugs and not about the issue at hand which is that a grown woman had sex with a 17 year old boy? Just wondering.

Anonymous said...

I bet it was the student bragging, dang, he had his cake and could eat it, just couldn’t keep his yapping mouth shut.

Anonymous said...

Maybe it’s the culture at Germantown and MC.

Anonymous said...

There would be fewer scandals and tragedies if one parent stayed home and supervised their kids instead of chasing the almight dollar so they can live in a fake stucco home and drive two expensive SUVs - hint: conspicuous consumption.

Anonymous said...

Lord, between this and that lame a— “poet” English teacher they have, the schools falling apart

Anonymous said...

Solution: abolish alienation of affection lawsuits.

Then teachers could just tango with dad or waltz with mom instead of banging the kids.

Anonymous said...

If this is true, why hasn’t there been a press release from Germantown HS or the Madison County Sheriff’s office? You’d at least think there would be an email about the situation to staff/parents, but we’ve heard nothing.

Just another typical Madison rumor gone wild imo.

I see some major misconceptions about Mississippi's "age of consent" in the comments. As public service, below is the relevant parts of the statutory rape law. FYI, for the purposes of this statute, I believe "a child" means under 18.

(1) The crime of statutory rape is committed when:

(a) Any person seventeen (17) years of age or older has sexual intercourse with a child who:

(i) Is at least fourteen (14) but under sixteen (16) years of age;

(ii) Is thirty-six (36) or more months younger than the person; and

(iii) Is not the person’s spouse; or

(b) A person of any age has sexual intercourse with a child who:

(i) Is under the age of fourteen (14) years;

(ii) Is twenty-four (24) or more months younger than the person; and

(iii) Is not the person’s spouse."

Miss. Code Ann. § 97-3-65

If you're a 17-year-old boy and the female teacher from her position of authority says, "Do me or you're going to get a lower grade," you're not going to think you're being put upon.

This will be shocking to some readers, but, still, that is the reality.

Anonymous said...

6:56: This is the second time recently I have noticed a comment about alienation of affection lawsuits, in a conversation that really didn't seem to relate to that. Have you recently had a judgment rendered against you for indiscretions with the souse of another?

4:54 said "44% of Madison Central’s ‘22 Graduates made at least a 25 on ACT"

If accurate, and if the ACT resembles the ACT of 30-35 years ago, that is remarkable! Well done!

Anonymous said...

Ok, so while we are talking about statistics, 44% 0f this year’s Jackson Prep seniors scored 30
or higher on the ACT. With a 30, qall of them are eligible to go to a state university for little or nothing or to a private college with a significant scholarship. Thirteen of these 66 students made 35 or 36. They can write their own tickets to most any college. Just saying.

Anonymous said...

Wow - that's quite a comparison. A high school that has to take any and every student in a certain radius around it vs. a private school with an admittance test. Just saying.

Anonymous said...

But did those Prep kids get to go to elementary, middle, and high school for free leading up? And while in these schools, which are funded by the state, the GOOD teachers are doing remarkable things to get these kids prepared for college, just as the tuition-based Jackson Prep. These facts are great but have nothing to do with a POOR teacher who made even POORER choices.

I'm more interested in the Germantown high school student that got caught shoplifting on their band trip to Atlanta and is still in the band, and Lion's band, and school. It wouldn't be so terrible except that every student signs a conduct contract each year. But she is white and super talented... meanwhile less talented non-white students are kicked out of the program for missing a practice.

Anonymous said...

@5:35 AM, when it comes to bang for the buck vs MCHS, Prep loses big time.

Anonymous said...

This 5;35 a.m.

I don’t disagree with any of the explanations. I just responded with Prep stats because somebody opened the door to this topic.

Anonymous said...

I'm also interested in the high student who made a credible threat to blow up the school or commit a mass shooting, but nothing was done because his mother was a teacher at the middle school and she convinced everyone that he wasn't serious.

Anonymous said...

A stupid bet among testosterone loaded high school boys. Lots of attention, compliments, stalking. A terrible choice made by an adult that may ruin the rest of her life. Job lost, marriage in peril, separated from a child, facing serious charges. Was she wrong? YES. The boy will get high fives and bragging rights and move on, hopefully to have learned and will not take another persons life so cavalierly.

PSA: legal advice in the coment section is usually worth what you paid for it.

Part of what you pay an attorney to do is to be able to pick the governing statutes to discuss.

2018 Mississippi Code
Title 97 - Crimes
Chapter 29 - Crimes Against Public Morals and Decency
In General
§ 97-29-3. Adultery and fornication; between teacher and pupil.

Universal Citation: MS Code § 97-29-3 (2018)

If any teacher and any pupil under eighteen (18) years of age of such teacher, not being married to each other, shall have sexual intercourse, each with the other, they shall, for every such offense, be fined in any sum, not more than five hundred dollars ($500.00) each, and the teacher may be imprisoned not less than three (3) months nor more than six (6) months.

Anonymous said...

@12:16 I disagree. You make it sound like the boy won't be affected at all, and that he should feel guilty for ruining the teacher's life.

First, the teacher is the adult. If her life is ruined, she willingly ruined her own life.

Second, I know a boy who was really affected by a similar situation. So much so, that he took his own life.

5:35, those stats are not correct. Perp had 11 seniors at 35/36, which is Star Student territory (if at least one kid scores above 34, they are all SS). Great showing and likely the best this year. But, actually, the only school with 13 at 35/36 in a senior class has been Madison Central, a public school. That was last year. This year they had 10 to JP's 11.

Furthermore, the top 3 STAR students in Mississippi were all from public schools, including Clinton for the #1 and GERMANTOWN HIGH for #2.

And, again, Madison Central, a public school, beats out St Andrew's in SS and in National Merit winners. There is no comparison in terms of the top students in the Metro area. Perp is very close, of course. And about double NWR in 35/36s, but many many of the public school students at CHS, MCHS, and NWR are getting 30 pluses.

But who would pay 20K x 13 years for equal or lesser results? Money better spent on an elite grad school, for which you won't be getting a full ride. Or a top 20 undergrad.

Anonymous said...

Send your kids where you want to. Send your kids where you are able.

Mind your own business.

Anonymous said...

St. Andrew’s lives rent free in the head of too many Madison Central parents.

Anonymous said...

To 9:51am...sounds like you didn't make first chair! No one would bring that up unless you were jealous.
And anyone who is familiar with the GHS band program knows you are dead wrong with making that a race issue. Why doesn't everyone get back to the issue - a teacher had sex with a student. This isn't about "I'm more worried about....," or about MCHS or Prep (can't everyone be happy for any student who achieved a goal)...let's pray for all those involved and pray justice will be served.

Can I ask 1 question?? Why was this student allowed to walk in graduation???

Anonymous said...

Yes, he was allowed to walk at graduation.

Anonymous said...

Why wouldn’t he be able to walk? In the school’s and law enforcement’s eyes the boy is a victim regardless if he even knows he is. How bout this, your beautiful 17 year old daughter has a sexual affair with a 30 something male, or female teacher. Someone made that statement. Let’s go a little further and say someone posed the question of should she walk and signed it with their home address. How long would it take you to be on that fellas doorstep after he suggested your daughter be publicly punished for being seduced by a person 15rd her senior?? No reason to take families’ feelings into account if you can do it anonymously!! Just my .02

Anonymous said...

Why would he NOT be allowed to walk?

Anonymous said...

@3:30

Madison Central’s graduating class is about four times the size of Prep’s. When you consider class percentages and ACT scores your argument falls apart. I would bet the farm that nothing close to 44% of MC’s 2022 class scored at least 30
on the ACT. I would be surprised if the percentage was as high as 10. If more, I would be pleased to learn that.

Anonymous said...

Why has law enforcement not issued a statement? Or Germantown? Why isn't the news talking about this?

Anonymous said...

@9:24 AM - good question. Cover-up? Damage control?

Anonymous said...

6:06. MC reported 44% made at least a 25. Not at least 30. Your information is misleading. 20% made a 30 or higher. Maybe they teach what’s on the test.

Anonymous said...

9:24 & 10:14 - Maybe they want to have the facts straight before just making assumptions and causing folks like y’all to presume guilt before you know what happened.

To May 24 at 1:21 p.m.: My comment clearly stated that it was intended to clear up misconceptions regarding the "age of consent" in Mississippi, e.g. "16," as one commenter wrote. The code section I cited is in fact the correct citation for the "age of consent" in Mississippi, i.e., "statutory rape."

The actual crime with which teachers can be charged for having sex with a student under 18 is called "sexual battery," codified as Section 97-3-95(2). It carries up to 30 years in the state penitentiary, per Section 97-3-101(1), rather than the 3-6 months under the old fornication statute you cited (97-29-3).

You wrote: "Part of what you pay an attorney to do is to be able to pick the governing statutes to discuss." Consider this one on the house.

When will Superintendent Seals change the guard at Germantown High School?
Why is she reluctant? Is she paying attention? Is she busy on the charitable boards she serves on in Jackson?
The students in the county she serves here deserve better.

Y’all stupid, talking about some Germantown ruined the area like sit down it’s evey school at this point they want be the first and they want be the last 💀. Also for the drugs from flora comments. How do you know???? Did you buy some ???? Was it good??? Lemme know .

As a student at germantown high i can speak on what really goes on yes the fights and sex and all the stuff is real but like shit happens. Now when it comes to our teacher sleeping with a student people have every right to be pissed but don't trash germantown they cant help that a teacher couldn't keep her pants on and as soon as they found out about it she was gone. ALL SCHOOLS SUCK AT THIS POINT EVEN THE PRECIOUS MRA. Half the kids get vapes from local gas stations either by flirting or paying extra. So whoever that was talking about flora giving them drugs and stuff SHUT UP. After watching my peers i have learned that they get drugs from older siblings, college friends, or even kids in madison. So to all you karens runnin your mouths SHUT UP! Like how are u gonna trash the school and not the teacher who did it, and about the fights Its not the schools fault that parents don't raise their kids to act right.

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.
