Again & Again & Again & Again

A Madison County grand jury indicted former DHS Communications Director Danny Blanton in February for his fourth DUI offense.

The indictment states he was arrested on July 10, 2021 for a DUI.  He was convicted of DUIs in June 2021, May 2014, and July 2004.  He previously served as the Public Relations Director at Ole Miss but resigned the position in November 2015.

Drunks gonna drunk. If only the laws were much more stern on these tools.

I mean, there isn't much to do in Madison county besides drink.

2:21, Don't be too smug. The DUI law was amended this year to include the following language:

"The provisions of this section are fully applicable to any person who is under the influence of medical cannabis that is lawful under the Mississippi Medical Cannabis Act"

Seems like the perfect Public Relations Director for the UMiss crowd. (Come on, you were all thinking it!)

Worked for JSU for a while also. Has made the rounds.

2:46 : Who's being smug ? I do not drink and drive nor to I ride dirty. I have lost 2 friends and a cousin to fugging drunk drivers.

Anything after 3 DUI's should be mandatory life in prison.

Extensive employment history - How many times has he been told "You are a lush; quit or we will fire you for cause?"

The State of Mississippi does not tax alcohol enough to pay for the social costs. State leadership is too cozy with the powerful hospitality and liquor lobby. The guy needs Jesus.

7:51 Want to go back to the Prohibition days? No, the State is not liable for the "costs" people who use various substances and drive cause. The people who do that are. Where do you get the idea that government is responsible or liable for what people do?

Just can't help it with the last name of "Blanton(s)"

I am not a lawyer, nor do I play one on Tv. But my recollection is that the 4th go round is a felony; as in big boy jail.

to 3:44....wow, you are a vicious mother arn't you?

1:52, I'm about as small-government as you can get and still retain some government service (fire, police, road maintenance etc.) There will always be costs associated with alcohol - as in this case, the cost of the police officer having to arrest, housing in jail, court costs and the like. If a drunk driver caused an accident, the fire department might get involved. By placing this officer in the position of having to deal with a DUI, he was pulled away from another task, and the taxpayer has to foot the bill for making sure there are enough officers to deal with it all. Without alcohol, there would be fewer problems the government has to deal with. So, yes, increased tax on the alcohol is a reasonable way to recoup some of this expense.

We once had a town drunk who enjoyed riding his Harley up and down the street once he got good and juiced. My mother decided one winter night to help him do better so she waited on the street and when he came down thru she threw a brick at the dumb SOB. The nights got easier after that. Thanks mom.

8:51 thinks life in jail for a habitual drunk adult who has demonstrated he has zero interest in utilizing Lyft or Uber to prevent him from murdering innocent people, FOUR TIMES, is too mean.
And that is just the FOUR TIMES a cop caught him.

God help us with you snowflakes.

11:01 : God has already made its decision on us. Including snowflakes. Clearly the decision is to let us continue downward. No floods, no space rocks....no rapture......

937, there is already a connection without your solution of taxing the product more. And your suggestion is to tax thousands for the failures of dozens. Not small government as you claim to be - come back again when you can make a better claim of your beliefs.

There are fines included with the charges when arrested that go specifically to cover some of those costs. And the fact that the cop that copped him drunk 'could have been doing other cop chores' like trying to catch speeders - you know, those folks who bought gas at the local convenience store and used it to break the law - doesn't pass the smell test.

If your explanation of how you are a 'small government, except' justifies the government (you know, the small one you supposedly support) should be taxing this product more to cover this crime, please tell us what other products you think should be taxed to cover the additional cost of providing those services you find necessary. You don't have to include your increase of the gas tax - I've already provided that cop's pay in my discussion above.

Shame on the people behind your screen writing disparaging things about this man. Alcoholism is a horrible disease. It makes people do things that they would never normally do. He has obviously made mistakes that I am sure he regrets, just like the rest of us. He has fought for all of us to have the freedom that we enjoy today. He is former military and was awarded the medal of Honor. We cannot begin to imagine what he went through and everything he saw. Let’s spread kindness instead of hate. Can you imagine having your most embarrassing mistakes posted on this trash website for everyone to give their opinions about you and what you did? It’s horrifying. BE KIND!!!!!

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
