NYT Busts Killer Cuomo

It took awhile but the truth of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo's killing of senior citizens is emerging.  The Governor sent Covid-19 infected patients to nursing homes last year.  The virus spread among senior citizens.  Lawmakers and other parties questioned the policy.  However, the  New York Times reports the Governor changed reports and concealed the true nature of the disaster:

Top aides to Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo were alarmed: A report written by state health officials had just landed, and it included a count of how many nursing home residents in New York had died in the pandemic.

The number — more than 9,000 by that point in June — was not public, and the governor’s most senior aides wanted to keep it that way. They rewrote the report to take it out, according to interviews and documents reviewed by The New York Times.

The extraordinary intervention, which came just as Mr. Cuomo was starting to write a book on his pandemic achievements, was the earliest act yet known in what critics have called a monthslong effort by the governor and his aides to obscure the full scope of nursing home deaths. Rest of article.

Got to have a best-selling book to go along with that Emmy.  Facts can be such a troublesome thing at times but don't worry, he had a ready-made excuse: It's Trump's fault.

After the state attorney general revealed earlier this year that thousands of deaths of nursing home residents had been undercounted, Mr. Cuomo finally released the complete data, saying he had withheld it out of concern that the Trump administration might pursue a politically motivated inquiry into the state’s handling of the outbreak in nursing homes.

Um, was it Trump who sent Covid-19-positive patients to nursing homes?

But Mr. Cuomo and his aides actually began concealing the numbers months earlier, as his aides were battling their own top health officials, and well before requests for data arrived from federal authorities, according to documents and interviews with six people with direct knowledge of the discussions, who requested anonymity to describe the closed-door debates.....

As the nursing home report was being written, the New York State Health Department’s data — contained in a chart reviewed by The Times that was included in a draft — put the death toll roughly 50 percent higher than the figure then being cited publicly by the Cuomo administration.

New York’s total of 9,250 deaths far exceeded that of the next-highest state, New Jersey, which had 6,150 at the time.

The fight between the media darling and his Health Department caused many well-regarded New York public health officials to leave.

The tension over the death count dated to the early weeks of the pandemic when Mr. Cuomo issued an order preventing nursing homes from turning away people discharged from the hospital after being treated for Covid-19. The order was similar to ones issued in other states aimed at preventing hospitals from becoming overwhelmed...

Oh yes, we have to kill people to prove we don't discriminate against the disabled.  Hmmm.... it is said bigotry kills. Can anti-bigotry kill as well?

Health officials, nursing home operators and even some of Mr. Cuomo’s aides expressed bafflement at the governor’s apparent insistence on delaying the release of the data for so long, as none of the information released so far has changed the overall number of Covid-19 deaths in New York — now more than 47,000, including more than 15,000 nursing home residents.

Dear reporter: Why would it change the total number of deaths? No one disputed that statistic.  What is disputed is how many nursing home patients died, a subset of the "more than 47,000" victims.

But the July report allowed Mr. Cuomo to treat the nursing home issue as resolved last year, paving the way for him to focus on touting New York’s success in controlling the virus.

“I am now thinking about writing a book about what we went through,” Mr. Cuomo said four days after the report’s release, his first public comments about a possible book.

By that point, he was already seeking formal approval from a state ethics agency to earn outside income from book sales, according to a person with knowledge of his planning at the time....

Vanity is my favorite sin, to quote John Milton in Devil's Advocate.  If you know your policy is killing nursing home patients and you are going to great lengths to cover it up, writing a book to brag about your success is probably not a good idea.  Hubris personified.

State health officials could see from the data that a significant number of residents died after being transferred to hospitals. The state health commissioner, Dr. Howard Zucker, had been aware as early as June that officials in his department believed the data was good enough to include in the report, according to two people with knowledge of the discussions.

But Dr. Zucker testified to lawmakers in early August that the department was still auditing the numbers and could not release them. State Senator Gustavo Rivera, the chair of the health committee, suggested during the hearing that the data was being withheld to improve the governor’s image.

“That’s a problem, bro,” Mr. Rivera told Dr. Zucker. “It seems, sir, that, in this case, you are choosing to define it differently so that you can look better.”...

The exchange speaks for itself.  The article concludes:

Health officials felt the governor’s office, whose opinion was conveyed by Mr. Malatras, wanted to simplify too much. They worried it was no longer a true scientific report, but feared for their jobs if they did not go along.

Even so, an edited version prepared by Mr. Malatras did not remove the higher death toll.

That occurred later, after Ms. DeRosa and Ms. Lacewell became aware of its inclusion. It was taken out soon after.

15,000 counts of voluntary manslaughter, but the ruling class rarely pay for their sins. Only the little people pay the piper.

Interesting. One way of looking at this is that is just another example of that fine American tendency to kick a man when he is down. Perhaps a more sinister way of looking at it is that Cuomo has fallen out of favor with the Left because of his alleged conduct toward women. But since he steadfastly refuses to 'fess up and grovel and/or resign the Left is stepping up the pressure through its primary press organ, the New York Times. This is more subtle and might actually be more effective than bringing the old feminist battleaxes out in their wheelchairs to demand his resignation since the effect of the article will be to broaden the scope of the man's corruption, expose his hubris. Still, it is satisfying to see Cuomo swinging in the wind politically.

9:06 PM That was a fantastic reply on this subject.
I marvel at your in depth assessment!
You would be a shoe-in from Rush Limbaugh job.

Geronticide - the killing of the elderly or their abandonment to death.

Cuomo owns it!

Dems - kill the unborn and the elderly.

Let them eat cake. They dug this pothole.

When will Wash Post, NY Times, CNN and MSNBC admit their guilt in protecting and propping up this killer?

"That's a problem, bro." Classic.

Looking to see that as a headline to any network or newspaper. Hold on to your butt, Mr. Emmy winner.

Nursing home deaths due to Coumo? That's nothing! We are now being convinced he's a damn womanizer! To hell with old folks dying because of his actions, the feelings of certain WOMEN were hurt! What's that going to get him? A slap on the wrist? When will they roll out a transgender woman to say "Oh, well, he NEVER made any sexual suggestions to ME" to get him off the hook completely. It's a damn DIVERSION! Have you noticed the trend with the left these days? It's like they toss out a flaming bag of dog shit and see who stomps on it first, then react and call out the one doing the damn stomping, and it's continuous one after the next. We're rapidly losing those from "The Greatest Generation" simply due to age; I lost my father, a WWII Vet, 3 years ago. I miss him dearly every day but I'm damn glad he isn't here to see what the Country that he and his generation fought and died for has now become.

He’s not a killer, he’s a serial killer.

9:06 is SO correct!

Not in any way excusing his inappropriate

Difference.

Where were the social marshals when slick willie

Wonder what he'll do in his next term. It is NY.

The liberal progressive media take care of their own... until they don't. Someone at the top of the ruling class (central kommittee?) gave the NYTs their orders, which must be carried out or there could be an unfortunate accident.

He was the darling of CNN getting air time daily touting his handling of the crisis and criticizing Trump (I’m not a Trump worshipper). His CNN brother Chris praised his brothers efforts. My opinion then and now is he’s a pompous AO.

The arrogant hypocrite can't lie and bully himself out of his bad behavior anymore.

The MSM protected him until they no longer could, but in reality he's just another liberal politician. They don't disagree with what he did (this story has been extensively reported on conservative outlets for months and they refused to report it), but now the public is scrutinizing it so he's gonna have to go. Whitmer did essentially the same thing with the nursing home residents, though not anywhere on Cuomo's level. He deserves to go to prison for the rest of his life.

The silence from the left is deafening. Those that constantly called Trump and Kavanaugh nasty names with Justice Kavanaugh’s being a big dog and pony show with nothing credible are nowhere to be found. #metoo...silent. Rachel Maddow...nothing. I could go on and on, but this is why no one outside of liberals, like liberals. They are a walking contradiction.

Breaking! Bad behavior is not illegal. Sexual Harassment IS! Excusing this chumplin's behavior by dismissing it as, "Oh, that's just Andrew" makes you an accessory, morally.

Trump has never been accused of sexual harassment. Those two words constitute a crime, not a behavior. But, slick Andy will escape, un-bruised, just as his mentor, Slick Willie, did. And he promises to not do it again.

Is there anyone who thinks that Cuomo was merely hiding his crimes from a resentful Trump Administration? This worm was covered over from top to bottom by democrats and the media. Most of America heard the death numbers as far back as May 2020. But in their worthless attempt to finally boot Trump from office ( something they lied and tried to do since he came down the escalator) the liberal left buried the story and supported Cuomo and his Emmy. I find it hard to believe this snake was brought to his knees by simply trying to screw every woman in his sight. Democrats rarely see this as a character flaw. Otherwise they’d have to turn in half the party. But all of a sudden here we are all seeing morality never seen before. Will this guy ever see justice? Doubtful vipers tend to take care of their own.

I loved Cuomo's attempt at acting.

His "quaking voice", fake tears,
and his insincere (Mea culpa) should at least get him a
Golden Globe nomination.

Sleepy Joe has yet to hold a Presser, and now Cuomo understands that
the Left will indeed eat each other.

This Dude is desperate to retain the power that he now understands is slipping away.

What happened to the Left’s cry of follow the science? Science told us this was airborne and contagious with the elderly being the most vulnerable. So, why did ANYONE think sending sick patients back to nursing homes was a good idea? Absolutely criminal.

Between this coverup and the sexual harassment charges, I say...IMPEACH THE MF!

"I was elected by the people of the state. I wasn't elected by politicians. I'm not going to resign because of allegations." Cuomo. Boy if these standards were universal...

The hysterics posting here need to watch the Bill Maher clip.

While I disagree with the coverup of nursing home deaths, I question what the heck else the state of NY was supposed to do with thousands of long term nursing home residents. I guess the snowflakes think NY should have left them in hospitals for indefinite convalescence while the hospitals were filled to overflowing with Covid patients who had a fighting chance of beating Covid.

Seems to me that a child or relative of a loved one stuck in a nursing home during the first months of Covid should have brought mama, daddy, or grandparents home where they'd be "safe" from nursing home exposure. Instead, those people wanted the government to take care of their "loved ones" rather than shouldering that burden themselves. And now they are bitchin' about it.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required.
