Governor Announces Vaccine Improvements

Elderly to get vaccine next week.

Governor Tate Reeves is speeding up the distribution of Wuhan virus vaccines to seniors.  The press conference is streamed live below.

Governor Reeves admitted the distribution of the vaccines was going slower than everyone hoped.  He said the CDC focused on who should get the vaccine first, wasting precious time on prioritizing, instead of rolling the vaccine out.  Everyone over the age of 75 will have access to the vaccine next week.  Those over 65 will have access in two weeks.   His steps follow similar ones made by the Governors of Texas and Florida.

The Governor said 190,000 doses were allocated to Mississippi.  163,000 were distributed but 78,000 were given to CVS and Walgreens by the federal government for long-term care residents.  23,511 doses have been actually administered in Mississippi.    He said if the appointments are not filled, distribution will be expanded.

State Health Officer Dr. Thomas Dobbs said he expects another surge after the holidays.  He said hospitals just got the Moderna vaccine.  Another 23,000 doses will be given to private clinics this week.  He said over 80% of nursing home residents are getting the vaccine when available.

I normally can't get the videos to play on this website. Maybe including a link to them would be a good idea.

Funny how everyone wants the vaccine all of a sudden including those that were so wary. Nothing like a perceived shortage to cause demand to rise.

While much I don't agree with this is one I wholeheartedly agree with. They should start with front workers and the do long-term care facility residents and the elderly followed by those with compromised systems. Those are the most effected. Teachers as a wholesale unit in the second tier should not happen.

First thing he's done right in over a year.

typical blame the CDC for not getting the vaccine out when the state hasnt even given out all it was given.

clueless.

3:23 - I agree wholeheartedly with you. Front-line workers, then long-term care residents, then the elderly. These are the most vulnerable to the virus according to the reported numbers.

Tate is right to distribute this out systematically the way he is doing.

While I am anxious to see this vaccine program work, nationwide, I shudder to think about Tate Reeves playing a role.

Do we wait for the stringy-haired signer to tell us how to proceed, when, where and in what order or do we hope to get instructions on Jackson Jambalaya? We're in a war, for God's sake. Imagine Tate Reeves in uniform leading a charge.

3:23 - Don't forget the morbidly fat asses.

2:39. Go see how well it worked in Louisiana, today. It didn't. WAFB, Baton Rouge, has the story. Similar to Florida.

Mmmh, spend the whole day teaching kids, but will get the vaccine later than 65 year olds, most of whom don’t have to work and can stay home? I am also not young anymore... disappointing.

Poor Tater said...

Tate only understands one thing. That’s money. Maybe he realized that if enough boomers croaked bc of COVID, the whole boomer economy of MS would just collapse because those SSDI/SS checks end at death and most boomers don’t have minor children to keep that gravy train rolling.

@3:23. amen! That will generally only kill a few of the weaker frontline workers and all of the elderly. Idonically, none of the immuno-compromised, as they won’t suffer the cytokine storm when exposed to the real virus after taking this abomination

@3:24. Praise government! They are aiming to kill Mississippians quicker than a trip through Jackson!

Put the Junior League of Jackson in charge and we will all have it by the end of the month.

Anonymous said...

So, is it safe to assume we can add 'vaccinations' to the list of things that will require a photo ID? Will this somehow be claimed as discrimination?

Anonymous said...

4:05 - did you not listen and hear the statistics? Those over 65 make up a vast majority of the deaths in this state. If you look at what the CDC came out with all teachers would be in front of the 65-74 age group. This means that useless sociology professor gets vaccinated before my mother so that he can keep spreading his useless message on sticking it to the man. And how do you think the 65-74 age group will get their good, go to the Dr., or do other important tasks without coming in contact with other people?

Vaccine sites are needed in every county for the elderly for next week. Some healthcare workers had to travel over 100 miles round trip to get vaccinated.

We just left Dallas Ft Worth today heading back to Jackson.

There were billboards advertising Vaccination from Med Clinics..Pharmacies.. Hospitals ..so why are TX and LA so far ahead of MS?

Can we get something done here?

I'm not taking it. I don't trust it. It's reported that %60 of the medical personnel won't take it either. If true what does that say about this whole deal?

"It's reported that %60 of the medical personnel won't take it either."

Please cite your source for this statistic.

This is a great decision by the governor. He is showing courage to do it. Vaccinating the elderly (65+) is the single best method to lower the horrible mortality and morbidity of the virus. It is also logical and proven by all vaccination models. It is what is being done in the entire Western World and Israel.

Impressive guts on the part of the governor.

With any luck, Dr. Dobbs will quit over it.

It says you didn't read the article.

Anonymous said...

@7:00 that’s a decision you’ll have to make. I’m not sure where you get your information from and what exactly does (this whole deal) mean? I myself think the alternative could be much worse than (What does it say for this whole deal). I imagine if god forbid you contract this Chinese virus you may realize sometimes bad information from bad sources can be fatal. Perhaps you should do a bit more research from someone other than MSNBC.

@8:11
I’m not 7:00 but the 60% number was California Healthcare workers who are refusing the vaccine. Today CBS news radio reported that numerous health systems have offered a $500 bonus to their workers to take the vaccine. This is because they are refusing to take it.

This is most interesting when you combine that with the recent report of the arrest of a citizen journalist in the UK who was caught filming the empty hospitals around London. This is because the claims of overflowing ICUs are being used as the excuse to lockdown London.

Healthcare workers know it’s all a scamdemic and do not want to take the shot. They don’t mind the overtime in empty ICU wards where they can film choreographed dance clips.

I am not the poster at 7 pm, but an article in mid-December said 40% of doctor's would not take the vaccine, and 60% of nurses would not.

The latest info I have seen now says it is 50-50 for nurses.

It is amazing the quickness some arrive here to discredit what they perceive as an anti- vaccine post. I don't watch any of the MSM. That includes FOX. I am a reader,a ferocious reader. I come across articles or posts that trigger the memory of something I have read. That is what happened when I read of some medical personnel, in the state, delaying their receiving of the vaccine. This is a common occurrence across the nation. I'm not saying it is a solid %60 across the country, but it is in some areas. I will leave links at the bottom if, Kingfish approves this post. I ask you, are these medical personnel quacks because they don't agree with your view?

The decision is already made. As for contracting the virus, I could also contract cancer, or any number of other known killer diseases. I don't fear any of those. Life is fatal, no one gets out alive.

If you really want to know you have the same sources I do, the internet. I don't believe you are interested in the truth.

Everything I want to know about Wuhan, SEC clips, Potholes and PERS I come to Jackson Jambalaya for the final word. Every other source is just hokey, made-up stuff.

I am a reader, a ferocious reader.

Well, then, that certainly makes you a superior reader than the rest of us.

Please consider using the posting name 'Super Reader' or 'Ferocious Reader' going forward so that we can all recognize and benefit from the words of such a intense truth seeker such as yourself.

Does this mean that the "cutting in line" is over?

Anonymous said...

LA Times and NY Post? Seriously?

Anonymous said...

9:52 - It's always a good thing to read a variety of sources but it's rather impossible for a layman to claim 'this one is the truth' and 'this one is not', regardless of the ferocity of your search.

4:22 wins. Those women are ferocious!

Call me selfish, but I want my family vaccinated before it rolls out to prisoners. Especially family over the age of 65 and those who are high-risk (asthma). This is the first time I’ve really agreed with Tater Tot, but we all know he was just copying what other governors have done.

I’d also like to know the method of proving you’re high risk. Age can be done with a driver’s license or birth certificate. I wonder what will be required for the other categories?

"are these medical personnel quacks because they don't agree with your view?"

Based on viewing the legions of 250 pound nurses and techs on Lakeland Drive, scarfing down donuts and puffing furiously on cigarettes each day at 7 am, most folks are savvy enough to realize that a set of conspiracy minded CNAs, custodians, LPNs, techs, and even RNs does NOT a "medical personnel" brain trust make.

Sorry, but there are antivaxxers in Marin County CA as well as Brooklyn NY. Ignorance is not geographically restricted, much less occupationally. We have seen PLENTY of MD quacks here, as well.

Although one could conceivably be regarded as a "ferocious" reader, that adjective is more commonly associated with aggressive behavior. I think the reference in question is implying quantity of consumption, and thus, would be more accurately described as a "voracious" reader.

@ 7:00 pm - - Studies show that people usually believe something that begins with the phrase "Studies show."

It always amuses me to return to a board where I have made a comment, to see the insecure, and others with self esteem problems, attack what is only a simple statement. I addressed no one in particular, neither did I claim to have absolute truth. The simple minded couldn't help themselves. They saw it as their moral duty to put this upstart in their place. Scrutinizing every word, attacking every angle. You people are very entertaining.

I fully agree that ignorance isn't geographically restricted. The poster that wrote this is proof of that statement. It's always those that assume they know everything that can't learn anything after that. It is usually the most ignorant that have been stunted emotionally which are quick to attack the appearance of others but they continue to grace this board with their middle school girl outlook without regard to their own short comings.

I used the word ferocious to describe myself. The emotionally fragile couldn't restrain themselves. The word ferocious also means extreme or intense. If you don't like my description that's your problem and I will let you keep it.

Drawers in a wad, 1:28. Snatch them out with ferocity.

Screw the seniors said...

Jackson is the most populated city in the state. Now that people over 75 can sign up for the vaccine, currently the closest city offering the vaccine is Meridian or McComb. Many people over 75 are not comfortable driving a 3 hour round trip. This is crazy.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
