Health Department To Get More Vaccine

The Mississippi State Department of Health issued the following statement.

Today the Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) announces that additional COVID-19 vaccine was allocated to Mississippi this week.

The additional allotments will support ongoing vaccination appointments at drive-through sites next week and allow for a modest amount of doses to be shared with community partners. The additional vaccine will be distributed to community partners in a manner that seeks to address both geographic and racial disparities.

We anticipate that we will have an additional drive through appointments, in more locations, the week of January 25 based on vaccine forecasted to be available at the end of next week.

MSDH anticipates steady vaccine supply to support scheduled vaccine appointments at drive-through clinics, and second doses will be available for all persons who have already received a first dose.

The anticipated arrival of significantly more vaccine in February is in addition to the steady, modest supply that we are currently receiving weekly.

Kingfish note: Sauces deep within the mainframe of the Mississippi healthcare system said the allotment is 30,000 doses.

That February shipment is a dream. March is when we will get 125K doses on top of the usual 30,000.

yada yada. I've tried all day long to call both numbers, to no avail. Charlie Foxtrot.

"community partners" " geographic and racial disparities"

Nothing like having MSDH play the social justice game. Out of curiosity, has anyone been able to show that they have been discriminated against when getting an appointment?

I realize the number is somewhere around 16% but who's fault is that? Just like when this started and the virus was "racist", until it wasn't...

I want everyone to get vaccinated ASAP, but sending x doses to a particular group or location, just because... is dumb.

On Wednesday we had enough for everyone.

By Thursday we were out. (No more vax until February they said).

"POOF" . . . magically . . . we now have more doses available the next day.

No wonder people don't believe the gub'mnt.

Thank God himself!!!!! There is no other way Mississippians will survive this plague who’s primary symptom is no symptoms

Look at the MSDH web site. Tate lowered the age to 16. Being overweight is now a qualifying high risk condition. Lots of chubby high schools kids and their parents jumped ahead of the elderly.

My husband and I had our scheduled through st Dominic’s for the end of January....Thank you Ms Department of Health for pulling St Dominic’s vaccines to use. We were scheduled and had been confirmed

Tater Tot & the MSDH has screwed this up royal.

Mississippi govt. at it's worst.

The Mississippi COVID website is still Not Functional.

This seems like the whole MDES debacle all over again.

@6:43, had St D reported current information to the health department and Governor as repeatedly requested, perhaps the state would’ve let them do their own. But after 5 weeks of not giving up to date data, the Governor said enough with it and made sure the doses would get into arms. You’ll get yours. Sorry your provider corporate screwed it up.

OK 2:57 - lets make a bet. Public. Right here on JJ.

If you are correct and the state doesn't receive that shipment in February, I'll come on this site, with real name attached, and say I am a dumbass. That I'm totally stupid; that I have no f**king idea what I am talking about

But - if the state does receive that shipment in February as they say, you will do the same.

I willing to make this bet because I am sure of the facts. I have no idea what you are basing your statement on, but for the purpose of this bet, it doesn't matter.

Deal?

@7:20 - sorry you think it is screwed up. I on the otherhand dont.

Was the website overloaded? Absolutely. Just like the Employment Security website was overloaded when the feds through out the additional $600 to damn near everybody. But, after a few days, they contracted with additional people for their call center, and added lines to their website hosting, and it got fixed.

UMC, who's website it is (not Tater's, and not MDOH's) was jammed badly when the 65 plus group got moved up. The move certainly surprised them so they had no reason to anticipate the surge, but once it hit, they fixed it. Worked fine for me Wednesday, don't know why you say it is not functional.

And the DOH added additional lines to their call number - only took me five minutes to get through, and then was on hold less than a minute.

If 'screwing it up' means getting the doses distributed and used - I'll take it. Certainly better than keeping them on cold storage for several weeks while they slowly drizzle out - like the national contract with the drug chains seem to be doing with the assisted living allocations.

So Tater Tot is playing boomer-remover by moving young fat fucks and smokers to the head of the line. Oh wait, that is how Tate Tot put himself at the head of the line...fat fuck.

Who are “community partners”? I assume medical clinics.

One doctor told me that they won’t get much more vaccine because more whites go to their doctors.

Anonymous said...

Did the Guv pull the allotment from St. Dominic's because they were hoarding the vaccine?

Anonymous said...

@5:47pm - You realize that’s why this pandemic is so bad right? No, of course you don’t. Stop posting.

The only time one of these numbers answers is at midnight. And then you get a recording telling you to call back during 'normal hours'. Ahem...why can't they staff these lines 24/7? Much of the private sector works three shifts every day.

Health Dept didn’t “get” more vaccines.

Tate took vaccines from hospitals and redirected them to health department.

Got a text from my doctor that your vaccine appointment? It’s cancelled.

Now Tate gets to send shots to donors.

What a terrible governor

The new shipment will be a real shot in the arm for Mississippi.

The second shot is supposed to come 30days after the first one. How can that happen when you can’t get the first one?

I asked my 3rd grader what she would have done about distribution of the vaccines. She said she would have formed a committee of other 3rd graders and developed a plan that took in all the scenarios. One of the first thing they would do would be to request data from the DPS drivers license bureau to find out how many people fit the different age groups and matched with the amount of vaccine available . Over 80 first week, over 70 next period and then over 65 next and then available to all ages with serious health issues . She then proceeded to explain the theory of supply and demand—if you have 100,000 shots and 300,000 that want them only 100,000 will get them. I told her it was really about common sense and quoted MT “the problem with common sense is that it isn’t very common.”

I'm retired from the VAMC and I'm waiting for Joe to get in and do what he says. He wants to bring back retired medical personnel to help with his plan to give millions of shots in 100 days. I'll be more than happy to get paid to put what is probably no worse than saline into the arms of the panicked. Yes, I am a mercenary type.

@ 12:16 AM

I can only tell you this. I am a patient of St D in Madison with several serious "underlying conditions". I contacted my "doctor" a couple of weeks ago to find out the best way for me to get vaccinated. I contacted them through their sacred patient portal and got a short, terse two word response. Call MsDH. That was it period. For this reason I have absolutely no sympathy for them and their whining. Remember, there are two sides to every story.

This headline is completely false.
The Health Dept didn’t get more un-expected vaccine.
They are getting the almost 40,000 1st doses they knew they were getting on Tuesday.
BEFORE their false press release went out on Wednesday night.

@9:27, ask the 27 patients in Norway with “underlying conditions” how they are doing today (spoiler: you can’t because they died of adverse reactions to the poison)

Anonymous said...

4:54 What was their condition. Spoiler: they were terminal. Those at death’s door should not get the vaccine, which is the recommendation that came out of the situation you referenced. Please provide an accurate picture instead of pushing disinformation. The vaccine is overwhelmingly safe for almost everybody.

"And the DOH added additional lines to their call number - only took me five minutes to get through, and then was on hold less than a minute."

But like the Employment Security fiasco . . . just because you talked to a warm body (probably hired only hours before) . . . doesn't mean they knew what they were talking about.

Nothing at all against the folks trying to help out and earn an honest wage.

But the MDES training programs have sucked since 2005.
I've worked there since the 90's . . . so I know what it's like.

That agency operates under some of the most complex rules, regs, and Federal laws in government.
There is no way they can teach a new employee about everything within a day or two.

I'm sure the Dept, of Health is even more complicated.

" (they died of adverse reactions to the poison)"

UPDATE:

The sale on Reynold's Wrap ended at Kroger this morning.
But the good news is that generic tin foil is still available at all "dollar stores" up in Canton.

@4:54 PM - get your facts right. 23 patients who all received Pfizer's version.

Calm Down said...

How many deaths have been attributed to the vaccine at this point?

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
