Todd Mardis will have to serve his the sentence for his domestic violence conviction after Rankin County Circuit Judge Stephen Ratcliff denied his request for a reduced sentence.
Flowood police arrested Mardis for aggravated domestic violence on October 7, 2022 after he allegedly beat his wife on October 4. Mrs. Mardis suffered a lacerated liver, fractured wrist, fractured cheekbone, fractured ankle, two broken ribs, strangulation marks, widespread bruising, and patches of hair torn completely from her scalp. A home security camera showed him dragging an unconscious Kim Mardis by her hair across the driveway and through the flower beds into the home. He did not take her to the hospital that night but instead flew to Tampa with another woman the next morning. He was arrested at the Jackson airport when he returned.
The District Attorney said it was the worst domestic violence case he ever saw (short of murder).
Speaking deliberately to the courtroom, he said "I have reviewed the evidence. I have reviewed the video. I reviewed the video for close to ten minutes. I've seen Mr. Mardis viciously beat his wife, I've seen him slap, choke, kick, and throw her to the ground. Mrs. Mardis was nude by the end of the video because the clothes had been beaten off of her. "
The judge continued: "There was no video of the trip to the house but it appears she was totally unconscious when Mardis pulled her from the truck. It goes without saying it's not your fault you're not here on a murder charge, it's that egregious. She had a broken cheekbone, broken ribs, broken ankle, lacerated liver, and extensive bruising all over her body." He noted her injuries were so bad that St. Dominic Hospital transferred her to a trauma level unit at UMMC for better treatment.
Judge Ratcliff ordered Mardis to serve 20 years in prison but suspended three years of the sentence. He will serve a probation term of five years upon release. He will be eligible for early release or parole after serving 50% of the 17-year prison sentence.
The Court gave the defendant credit for time served in jail Rankin County Court Judge David Morrow revoked Mardis' bond after he got violating a no-contact order with his wife. Earlier post. Mardis was incarcerated for ten months when sentenced.
Mardis filed a petition for post-conviction relief in January 2026.
The petition argues the sentence was "disproportionate" to sentences for similar convictions in the Twentieth Judicial District (Rankin and Madison counties). Mardis cited the Frank Strickland case. Strickland pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in 2023. Mardis argues:
The Strickland case demonstrates imposition, by the Court, of a sentence of only nine (9) years to serve.for the same crime for which Petitioner was sentenced, for conduct more severe .than in Petitioner's case.

Oh No!
Anyway....
At the risk of upsetting his fanboys, let me say that animal does not deserve to ever move among polite society again.
What a scumbag!!!!!!!
He's an "animal" and will certainly do this again....UNLESS he comes to know God and is changed into a humble, caring, loving human being deeply sorry for his horrendous actions. THIS must clearly be shown if he is to be released into the general public once again.
Put his rage to good use and send him to Iran.
"Mardis is a first-time offender," in the stricly-legal sense of the term, meaning this was just his first conviction.
bet he's kicking everyone's ass in prison
Some aggravated assault cases deserve life in prison. This is one of them. Or turn him loose and let society defend itself.
Douuchebro is right where he needs to be.
Baseball players are generally assholes!
This asshole isn't worth what it would cost to ship him to Iran.
You hate to see it.
Welp, that takes care of that piece of crap for the next decade. Changing the subject… any news of the societal screw-up that is Jason Hulsman?
Can inmates have hair products?
Or is that something else in his hair?
I want to see what he looks like now without roids and tanning bed.
This was a brutal horrific crime. Hopefully he will stay in prison for a long time.
He has fans????
Cmon guys it’s just Todd being Todd! Classic Todd! What a bad ass!
Put him in a cage with a bunch of bull dykes and let's see how tough he is with women.
Was he a swinger??
First place I'd look for his fans is Coprophiliacs Anonymous.
Isn't there a local chapter?
Yea right
lol!
No I think it’s just him
Inquiring minds want to know how much Collette charged for a motion guaranteed to lose.
Some dipshits would draw on 20 at the blackjack table.
is this fool one of them?
Yes. Yes, he (and she) was/were.
What a colossal screw up. Great Family, great business he had it made. Was he always a bully and brute?
It's a wonder she is still alive. I hope she is well physically and mentally from the attack today. He deserves to live the rest of his life behind bars with REAL men who enjoy kicking A.. for fun and comfort.
Mardis does come from a solid family. I know them from church and Christian school from back in the 80s/90s. I don't condone anything he's done or anything I've heard about him. However, don't discount the Lord's ability to change hearts whilst he humbles us. That's my prayer for his him and his family. The Lord isn't done w/ any of us until we breathe our last.
The IRS (and probably some of his former customers) had a different opinion about his 'business.'
That's a dangerously-beautiful daddy! You can see how all those docs fell under his spell, and had him managing their wealth: looking into those blue eyes, listening to all his noble winner talk... having their narcissism massaged, while gazing at that thick bull neck...
I'm no fan, but it's easy to understand how he mesmerized so many. Beauty, when wielded by the unscrupulous, can be dangerous.
As for the incident, apart from wondering about medications (or
intoxicants, other than alcohol), I've been wondering if some sort of predisposition to Dysglycemia, may have intersected with alcohol consumption - producing some sort of near-blackout/fugue state. So, I asked DuckDuckGo, and here's what their AI told me:
"Alcohol consumption can exacerbate the effects of Type 2 Diabetes and Dysglycemia, particularly by increasing the risk of hypoglycemia when combined with diabetes medications. Heavy drinking can also diminish liver function, which is crucial for regulating blood sugar levels, potentially leading to higher blood glucose levels over time."
Alcohol being a fuel (almost a fourth macronutrient category: one for the foolish), I was wondering it it would blunt or exacerbate the effects of a hypoglycemic episode. There were plenty of horrible moments in my childhood, when the menfolk in our rural slum, who habitually consumed way too much sugar, would get drunk and beat everybody within sight.
I need to ask AI the question in different ways, but initially, it seems that those who're dysglycemic/pre-diabetic/diabetic, can have their hypoglycemic episodes made WORSE, by consumption of alcohol (the body burns alcohol FIRST, as I recall). But I'm only the MOTHER of some surgeons (and a biotech investor, sometimes). So, I'd love to hear from those well-versed in the intersection of metabolism and brain activity.
Is it likely that Mardis' brain was starved, while he was doing those horrible things?
3:32 Fancy talk and we’ll worth deep reading ..
But it was not Mardis first rodeo of beatings and bad behavior…bullying and B.S. Let this thug out and watch how quickly you read Kim Mardis OBITUARY!
@3:24 - You're a nutjob!
Thank you, 4:24, for sharing everything you know, about whether alcohol exacerbates or ameliorates hypoglycemic episodes.
Are you using drugs???
Didn't recognize him in white. My computer doesn't have an app to change the color to bright yellow. I'll take your word that it's him.
