Each meeting will include brief remarks from Chief Brackney, an overview of current public safety efforts, and an open listening session for residents to share concerns, ask questions, and offer ideas. Quote from Chief Brackney “I want every neighborhood in Jackson to know that their voice matters and that their police department is listening,” Dr. Brackney said. “These meetings are a chance for me to sit down with residents where they live, worship, and work, to hear directly about what’s working, what isn’t, and how we can move forward to make every part of this city safer.” Residents are encouraged to attend the meeting in their ward or any date that works best for them.

I doubt talking to people in churches will bring about any positive changes. The lowlife gangsters could care less.

Church-Tours, Neighborhood Nights Out, Meet the New Chief and Let Us Hear Your Concerns have been standard fair of every one of the previous (new) Chiefs for the past 35 years. That old definition of insanity comes to mind...
Wishing her the best, while preparing to be disappointed.
Which didn't happen under Harvey as he kept his chiefs away from the public as they saw the public as the enemy.
Love it when politicians hold "listening sessions" and then realize they can't fix the problems discussed so the deflect and deflect the public's attention to other things less important.
Public relations is the definition of police work for this Democrat leadership. It's all about appearance and delivery not substance and results. The citizens expect no results anyway. It's called jive-talkin'.
I bet the guy that posted the $200 dollar reward price on Jackson jambalaya for the information on his moms attacker would have liked to have me the police chief, apparently she was of NO help nor was JPD. This is pathetic (do your damn job and stop parading)
Hearing is nice. Doing is better. What is she doing to improve performance? Comments on this blog regarding property crimes suggest one area that needs immediate improvement.
Here we go again. For all is his (supposed) smarts the fact that John Horhn can't conclude on his own that Jacksonians have been dog-and-ponied to death tells me that he isn't very smart at all.
Can we ask her whether she'll walk from the job when she's told a severance payment isn't allowed by Mississippi law?
Big whoop. The mayor and the chief neither one can do diddly to lower JXN Crime. Physicians, heal thyse’fs.
Wow! You sound like you know everything about how the black community operates. You seem really smart. What are your thoughts on immigration?
MEMO to the Chief

RE: Listening tour
Chief, keep in mind:
[1] Don't ever attempt to dupe us with the word 'perception' or the phrase 'perception of crime'.
[2] Drop the Dr. bit. Your academics in this job don't mean squat.
[3] Action talks, bullshit walks.
[4] Dogging the suburbs and our former neighbors who have left for the suburbs is a lose-lose proposition of deflection. See #3 above.
[5] If you aren't prepared to be as mad about Jackson crime as we are then go ahead and tender your resignation today.
Right? I can’t stand it when politicians ask what I think either.
You're going to listen to the same community that raises these hoodlums into the little terrorists that they become? I don't give a damn about your listening session. I want a JPD officer on every corner arresting every thug who sneezes wrong. This Chief is going to be a disaster.
The only way to stop habitual criminals from habitually committing crimes is (especially when the have multiple offenses) when they are arrested for a crime PUT THEM IN JAIL AND MAKE THEM DO THE TIME . There are no short-cuts or easy ways out !
Does she really need to parade around to hear everyone’s concerns? She should do what she was hired to do, make Jackson safer. Jackson needs action, not a lot of talking.
I will ar least reserve judgements until I hear what she has to say. I am not sanguine though.
@8:28 AM - Here is a PSA for you. The expression is "COULDN'T care less."
Here is another free PSA...it's "...standard FARE..."
S.A.F.E.
Stop And Frisk Effectively.
Curfews, Double-Stop Roadblocks (Catch 'em in the Roadblock, or Get 'em if they avoid it), Go get thugs, Take their illegal guns, Put them in jail with serious, well documented charges while they wait for fast, thorough, adjudicated prison term.
Their parent(s) has/have already failed their "baby", he's a gun toting, carjacking killer hoodlum now, without a conscience.
To all the comments: it is BOTH AND.
Yes, she does need to go out in the community to hear everyone's concerns and integrate into the community. That is foundational to accountability. Our police force being tied to our community is a good step.
But like everyone says, we need action and outcomes and results. I hope it happens.
The Bee Gees even wrote a song about her:
"It's just you jive talkin'
You're telling me lies, yeah
Jive talkin'
You wear a disguise
Jive talkin'
So misunderstood, yeah
Jive talkin'
You're really no good."
Meet the new (dr.) chief who is even worse than the old chief.
@9:20 not sure why you link the “black community” and “immigration” but yes you should self-deport to any country you think is better than the USA. Please hurry
@April 13, 2026 at 9:58 AM - That's racist.
Stay tuned for Cocoa with the Popo.
I was under the impression that to be hired as chief of police you would already know how to do the job. Asking the people who are committing the crimes how to prevent crimes does not sound like a very smart thing to do.
