I parked downtown for a meeting with a Hinds County supervisor. Meter wouldn't accept a chip card. A forty-five minute meeting cost me $24 and change. Zero stars. Do not recommend.

Stokes has a point, and I had never thought about it. He brought up elderly or anyone on a cane, etc., made me think of my mother. She doesn't have chip card, walking to another meter wont work. Just hadn't thought about it. You're perfectly able and still got screwed.

The parking meters/kiosks are a disaster. The signage sucks and if you decide to pay by scanning the QR code, it is not at all user friendly. And you can’t park for longer than two hours. The already declining downtown lunch crowd is about to be extinct. Blame the meters!

I never really took the time to understand Stokes and brushed him off as a blow hard. Lately I’ve been paying attention to him and now I get where he’s coming from. I now actually believe I’d vote for him as Mayor. I’ve lived here my entire 64 years and as a downtown business owner I now truly believe he has the city’s best interest. I’m a white ass republican and I can’t believe I just admitted this.

Several people have mention the Republic of New Afrika several times and it has come up on a local podcast that the discussion lately has been that Chock sr was the person who shot the FBI agent and killed Officer Skinner in 1970. The person who went to jail was not the actual gunman. That I can believe because this cult had their sights on Jackson for a long time. It’s all adding up if you can look back on the events that shaped its existence and why Bennie Thompson does not want to have anything to do with Lumumba jr. He wants to distance himself from that crime. Now, when will everyone finally quit calling that cult leader by 3 names? We used to refer to our mayors as Mayor Davis, Mayor Danks and Mayor Ditto. I’m glad to see the FBI cleaning house and I’m hoping that somehow someway the EPA can file charges on Lumumba for the 4.5 billion gallons of raw sewage that has been dumped into the Pearl River that has contaminated all drinking water sources in many towns in Mississippi and Louisiana along with the fishing industry being damaged. Folks, this is real and needs to be addressed very soon. I’m hoping that somehow someone who has the power to bring forth an investigation into that matter will do so.

When the technology of a parking meter requires me to use a credit or debit card or an app on my phone, count me out. However, from listening to the parking meter Rep Lady, it sounds like one could still use a dime or a solid quarter to feed the meter. So from that standpoint I really don't see the issue of removing them, unless the whole point of the upgrade in technology was to make it difficult in order to collect a much more lucrative fee from the fines. But then again we're dealing with people that don't pay a water bill.

Now, if you want to keep Rukia's constituents busy, a couple tubes of JB weld and a roll of solid quarters randomly glued to the sidewalks of downtown Jackson, preferably near the parking meters would keep them busy and give them some exercise therapy.

Once I read the details of the contract Rukia "received" - wink wink to her brother - to have 4-5 parties at the airport (if I remember correctly) for about $100,000 to entertain elected officials and other politicals was being expedited, I was DONE. Sold my home in Jackson where I lived 55+ years. She was paid to "organize" functions that might get her brother some favor and make huge bank for doing little. She wasn't catering/working at these - she was just "organizing". Heck, I'll organize 50 events for a fraction of what she was paid. She is a flaming lunatic and may be worse than CL. She runs "nonprofits" that she def. profits from. It's so sad that the people that think these 2 are on their side don't know they are being robbed blind.
