"You Have to Change to Expect Change"

Coach Prime used the shooting death of rapper Takeoff to teach his team some valuable lessons.   Check out what he had to say as he laid down the law on his young charges.

This is what a "coach" can do that other teachers cannot. Young men are compelled to listen and follow. Deion realizes he occupies a special position in the lives of many people especially these young men and he's making the most of it. JSU don't normally get a break, but they sure got lucky this time.

Jackson State and the City is really lucky to have this guy. He is a great example of how to live life and teaching major life lessons to these young men.

ahhh yes the invaluable lesson of not shooting another person over a dice game

This reminds me of Coach Kinnison at DSU and Coach Reeves. You mean more to Coach Prime than you will ever know. His love for you speaks volumes of Who Coach Prime is. Listen please and heed his word. God has great plans for you. You are Loved JSU!

He needs to take his show on the road to the locals.

@1:03 PM If someone has never been exposed to values and thought processes you think of as common this is life changing advice. Some kids come from homes so broken that the average person not in law enforcement or social work can't comprehend it.

@1:39pm: approx: "Some kids from homes too broken to comprehend."

What's worse are those who, despite their upbringing, emulate thug culture because it's heralded by rap and video trash.

Yes, its sad that such a simple lesson as "dont shoot people" is required to be verbalized.

But now that we agree that it IS necessary...good for him for trying to fill the void that so many sperm and egg donors could not manage.

Good luck Coach! We appreciate you.

Coach Prime is dishing out some life changing wisdom, I pray that these young men take heed to what he is saying! God Bless him.

1:39 Even if they don't come from "broken homes" athletes are often so spoiled they live in a fantasy world thinking they are "special". Many get into serious trouble because they think the world will bow down to them. Coming from a guy who has experienced it all, this was a good locker room speech. Thanks Coach Prime.

Kingfish: Please allow this post.

Listening to the man some of you call Coach Prime, I'm trying to decide if his delivery and word structure more closely resembles that of Stokes or a prison ministry guy who spent 25 years in the slammer. Is it effective with a bunch of youngsters who, at one time, were pretty close to prison themselves? Yes. Is this transferrable to a major university where not everybody comes from a disadvantaged, one parent household? NO.

He is no second coming and he is NOT God's gift to Jackson. He is nothing more than a school counselor taking a bus load of boys to Parchman for 'the tour' - you remember those tours that were intended to scare shit out of kids. Is that essential for the lives of these young boys to get on the right track? Yes. Should this have to be a primary concern and pre-occupation for a college football coach? No? But, sadly, in this circumstance, it is. It's 'reform school 101'.

ANY talk of a new stadium is just idiotic. Jackson has so many more important things that need to be addressed.

1:42 has a point. I think Prime is good for JSU. He’s good for Jackson. But he’s one person and he can’t fix the problem homes, bastard children, and rampant crime that is destroying Jackson. He’s a football coach. A good one so far.

But I’d like to see in ten years where his players end up. Some will ply in the NFL. Others will have productive lives and be good citizens. But I can bet that many will take a stray path and ruin their future, at a much higher rate that the average college student.

Want to “fix” Jackson?

Maybe Prime is on the list.

But he’s not in the top 10.

Start with unwed moms, violent males, no fathers in the homes, absent leadership in the city, bad schools…I could go on and on.

But there is only so much Prime can do. Everyone needs to find other mules to hitch their dreams to.

Get him out of JSU and into the mayor's office. He might be the one guy who can beat the idiot mayor we have now.

Prime Bling Neon Sanders will eventually be just another footnote in the novel "Slide to Oblivion - The Destruction of a Once Beautiful Capital City". He came, He saw, He tried, He left.

@ 8:33 - Jackson doesn't own the stadium.

Coach Prime outta preach to the crowd during every halftime, with the concession stands closed, and TV should be required to broadcast it if they show the game.

8:38 Don't miss the point. Deion was being recorded talking to his football team, not the city of Jackson. His message was to a large group of young men who are at a crucial stage in their lives. Most of these young men are the same at Ole Miss, MSU, LSU, Alabama, etc. whether you know it or not. They can be leaders for good or they can be followers of bullshit. A coach like Deion can be the spark... That's enough.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
